Really depends on how much money he wants to spend - when I went DJ shopping with someone last last, every men's clothing retailer in Fashion bit of Dubai Mall did them, but the prices were as you would expect. They did look dead s e x y though!

Yes, have had both my last jobs through websites (Gulf Talent especially) - recruiters have contacted me through here. As loranaji says, don't give up, but do make sure the CV posted is FABULOUS. I can't tell you the amount of CVs I reject as they have poor written English and bad grammar (and this is from native English speakers!), or ones that run to over 2 pages - you just get bored. Make sure the CV is a 'teaser advert' - make the recruiter want to call you as you sound perfect for the job, without giving everything away.

Yep, it's all to do with fluctuating hormones, and from personal experience, painkillers don't help much, although my UK GP got me to take ibuprofen and paracetamol at the same time (half dose of each), along with caffeine (just an ordinary cup of coffee) as that helps with quick absorption. She said if you look at the ingredients list on the more expensive painkillers, they generally have this combination of drugs in, and that's why. Sorry, I'm not much use, but just wanted you to know you're not on your own with that one. The only positive thing I can say is the older I get, the less often they happen!

No reputable agency here, or anywhere else, will ask you for money. They get commission from clients when they place you, so please don't send them any money, especially if you haven't even had an interview with the company WITH the job. What are you after? I know quite a few people with vacancies (genuine!) at the moment, so may be able to help...

Love the Greens! When I was with DH we were in a large 2 bed + study in Street 2, paying 84k in 2 cheques. I'm now in a fully furnished 1 bed (utilities included) for AED 65k (one cheque). Great facilities, wonderful location, plenty of parking and 15 min walk to either metro station (on the very odd occasion that I've used it). Have always felt very safe there. You will pay more though if you just want to rent for 6 months - when I was looking in January and not sure on my length of stay, anything less than 12 month contract pushed the costs up significantly.

I'm sure you'll get lots of different recommendations, but my current favourite is the newly opened Rivington Grill (British) at Madinat - great food and service, and they've just opened about four floors of terraces where you can sit and have a drink before and after. The higher ones have stunning views over the local landmarks, and you're just at home there in a cocktail dress or jeans. Failing that, Madinat complex again, Al Hambra (Spanish tapas) in Al Qasr hotel, with several places within a few footsteps to be able to sit and take it all in - all with beautiful service and food.

From personal experience... Dr Alex gets very booked up as she's SO good, but twice I've made appointments in the future, but tell them you'd be very happy with a last minute cancellation, and both times I've got one and been in to see her within a week. You might have to give them a call daily though. Both Dr Houriya and Dr Alex are people who made me feel that, even if I got the worst results/prognosis possible, I'd be in the best hands there were. Weird to say, but they both make me feel 'safe'. <em>edited by pinks on 12/04/2012</em>

Dear Scruffles - I went through exactly the same just over a year ago, and it ended up with me having a lump out last November, but the waiting for tests and then the results are just awful, but there are lots of here who completely understand what you're going through. If you do need suggestions of who to see, then again, you'll find lots of recommendations on here for Dr Houriya Kazim at the Well Woman Clinic (http://www.wellwomanclinic.ae/team_kazim.html) - she's a specialist breast surgeon, and is WONDERFUL. She puts you at such ease and explains everything so clearly. Can't recommend her highly enough. Big hugs, and please let us know how you get on.

I could refer you to my earlier posts, but GET THE PROFESSIONALS IN! They can spot one at 20 paces, and found them where I wouldn't have thought they'd gone, and also told us where they wouldn't be. Very reassuring. Also sprayed the offending suitcase so it's usable still. A complete pain in the *** for a few weeks if you do need them to spray, but better than going to bed wondering 'what if'... ETA ...and THEN you can come round for drinks with the bunny : ) <em>edited by pinks on 09/04/2012</em>

I hate to disagree with everyone, but cranberry juice can make matters worse when you've actually got a UTI, as it's very acidic, and if it's sweetened, then the sugars again can make the situation worse. Chamomile is natural urinary tract disinfectant so drinking strong chamomile tea (I know it can taste revolting!) by making it with two tea bags and leaving them to stew can very quickly help - if you have any chamomile essential oil, then this is one of the very few you can apply direct to the skin, or, 4-6 drops mixed in with a teaspoon of oil of any type, it can then be massaged into the skin above your bladder. And use a hotwater bottle! I think anyone who's ever had cystitis and the likes is clenching their thighs whilst reading - you poor thing! ETA the chamomile treatment was originally recommended to me by a gynae/urinary specialist, and I often find that drinking it strong when I get the first twinges will often stop the need for further treatment <em>edited by pinks on 01/04/2012</em>

Hi - all the hotels on Yas Island are less than a 10 minute drive/cab ride from the airport. I work right next to the airport and occasionally stay on Yas for team nights out if I''m having a drink and can't drive back to Dubai, and you can get very reasonable deals - as long as it's not a concert night! We generally look at the deal websites (laterooms.com etc) and then call the hotels direct, and can often get a cheaper rate. Not sure if they do airport parking (the actual airport parking is hideously expensive), but, if they don't, you can easily leave your car at Etihad Plaza round the back where the crew that live there park, and then get a cab from the cab rank.

Hi Kateh Hard to help without seeing your screens, but... (a) are you on your home wireless network (not 3G)? (b) if you do have a v p n, do you have one that works on both a laptop/PC AND a mobile devise (it needs to be a PPTP one, which your provider should be able to swit h you to if you have a different configuration), and (c) check you dont have th v p n switched on on any of your other devices, unless you have mutiple contracts, as (and I'm assuming you've got a paid for one), they'll only work on one device at a time. Failing that, treat yourself to a trip out of the country and install Sk ype on your iPad as well!

I was going to say Ted Morgan too! I use Rachael and Louise at the Palm branch. I had exactly the same problem with my roots (I'm dark brown, well, I used to be!) and hence within a few days the colour goes lighter than the rest. What I didn't realise that there are different strengths of permanent colour, and for people like me and your Mum, they can use a colour formula that's for very resistant grey hair. It's L'Oreal, same price, but it lasts and looks good.

You don't need a VPN (although it helps!), as mine works fine over here. It has occasionally disappeared - sorry if you've tried this already, but have you checked that it's turned on under Settings? If not, check you have 3G turned off, check settings again and sometimes this allows you to turn it back on.

I've got my own iPhone, but buy the AED 99 post-paid package from Etisalat, and add on the 1GB of data for AED 100 per month. This is masses of data - I leave 3G on all day (my wireless isn't working at home right now) and I never get close to using it all, and I use FB, Skype and Hotmail on it prolifically, so I think you'd need to be a very heavy user to need more data than this. I did think that du offered better packages but have had my number for too long to want to change, but Etisalat have upped what's included in the package a few months ago, so I now get 150 local minutes per month, 50 international minutes, and 100 local texts included in the price, so think it's pretty good value. ETA The only thing I pay additionally for is the odd international text, but this adds a tiny amount to the bill each month, and by calling *121*1# you can instantly see what minutes and texts you've got left, and by texting 'data' to 1010, again you get a message with your remaining GB sent to you straight away. <em>edited by pinks on 03/03/2012</em>

If you want to arrange it when you arrive, there is a government run taxi/driver kiosk (as well as lots of other ones) in the airport, and they have published rates in a big book to all the hotels. We got one there when we arrived to take us to the first destination, and then negotiated with him for the rest of the trip. You soon get an idea of what to bargain for, but remember to see the vehicle, as they range from luxurious minivans, to teeny weeny cars with very small engines!

That's a real piece of string question! Can you let us know your children's ages, what you like from holidays generally, and which weeks are you going. There's obviously the Olympics (tickets still available), and there will be some fabulously 'English' things going on, especially around London, with the Queen's Diamond Jubilee - but flights will be astronomically expensive... www.visitengland.co.uk would be a good place for you to start.

Table 9 at the Hilton creek - superb and a beautiful selection of veggie dishes. If you phone ahead and warn veggies coming they will, I'm sure, make sure there are some good options for you. Stunning food and service and you get o go into the kitchens and meet he chefs. I second Table 9 - they have two tasting menus as well, one meat and fish and one purely vegetarian. Great selection of food for all tastes, and the bag of homemade sweets to take home is definitely worth going for!
