Snack constantly!!! But small snacks so that nobody really "notices" ;) Crisps, crackers, ginger biscuits, suck on hard boiled sweets, fruit...any crunchy worked for me, and i suffered with horrendous MS :/: And YES to the ginger tea, which many people drink for health reasons, so it should not make anybody suspicious really!

my husband knows that my body is not great, he just loves me the way I am. And there is your answer ;) Rather a man who loves you the way you are, than trying to get you to change and be "someone" else and compare you to those "skinny" women that hang around the pool! Be proud that you have such a wonderful husband ;)

Have you checked in the bookstores imolinar? Most book stores sell Pregnancy Journals, you will find it in the "Parenting Section"... Kinokuniya in Dubai Mall usually have quite a range to choose from, i've bought all my pregnancy books and journals from there before!

I had heartburn - sometimes painful and sometimes it felt as if my throat and chest was on fire!!! GAVISCON! Albeit, only soothed for while, it is safe during pregnancy and you can drink as much as you want :D Not sure if this is what you have, but very well sounds like it :( And if it is, it will go as quickly as it came once you little one is born ;) ETA: If it is heartburn, Laban also helps! I drank loads and loads of the stuff! Especially at night just before going to bed as this was always when it was at it worse edited by plumie on 13/01/2011

Plumie, overfeeding is difficult in a breastfed baby, as they come off the breast when they've had enough. That said, it can occur if mum has oversupply or a fast flow, or sometimes if a baby with reflux spends more time at the breast for soothing. It is possible that your little one was just having a bad day and needed a lot of comfort so was feeding more than she actually needed nutrition-wise, and so was just a one off. (Edited to add: a growth spurt can very occasionally result in this, too.) *Hugs* I hope you work this out. Having a baby in frequent distress is awful :( edited by BFC on 13/01/2011 BFC - Thank You so much for taking the time to always reply with such detailed posts!!! Yes - i think today she was having a really **off** day and it was a mixture of many things! Finally got her to sleep from 5pm - 7:30pm and then she had a really good feed! It started off a bit shaky, (pulling off the breast after 3 minutes and crying) but we eventually got there and i tried the compressions and boy did she gulp it down when i squeezed :) She managed to stay on the breast for 30 minutes (and quite content & relaxed), which was the longest she has fed, in one session, for the whole day! And the Sling - i managed to get one from a friend today, so will DEFINITELY be giving it a go!

Nil - just trying to understand your post - why would [i'>YOU[/i'> think that it could be harmful to cut your hair during pregnancy? How do [i'>YOU[/i'> think it could affect your baby? Or like Shellly has said: maybe you mean colour?

Plumie you said in a previous post that your DD was on infant gaviscon? Did this help? **SIGH** helped for a bit, but then made no difference :\: Maybe i should persist, as i only used it for 1 week...i guess my patience threshold is dipping really low as i try something and then expect changes immediately! BFC - scratching explosive diaper of my worry list then, seeing that it falls into the normal category for 4 - 6 week old babies :)

I wish i could go to the BFQA Meeting on Sat, but with the roller coaster we are on at the moment, it is very difficult to plan anything as DD rules the Palace right now ;) I had a friend over when the "big throw up" happened and she said, not even she has seen anything that bad yet (and she has a 6mo DS) :( Looks like it is HUGS for both of us :)

Franschoek - quint little French town and one of my favorites! :D Very easy to drive to, safe and very scenic! Through the vineyards & beautiful mountains! Take the N1 out of Cape Town, follow the Paarl signs, once you reach Paarl, take the R44 turn off and then follow the signs to Franschoek! Slim chance of getting lost, so safety should not be a concern! Enjoy

What is nappy output like? 3-4+ dirty nappies a day along with plenty of wet nappies indicate sufficient intake - which is not in question - but the colour of the nappies may give clues. Typical poos are mustard-yellow and "seedy;" a foremilk imbalance may result in green-ish, possibly frothy ("swamp monster") poos. Question re: nappy output! The past week or so, DD is only filling one, max two nappies a day! And when she does - it is explosive, runny, mustard in colour with no texture or "seeds" in it! Why is this and is it normal? DD is 5.5 weeks & is EBF! If this is a foremilk/hindmilk inbalance how can i "rectify" it? Today - she had a rather explosive throw up :( Not flying/spewing out, but like an open tap it ran out of her mouth! She has had a real cranky day and am afraid i could've overfed her :( Is this possible? She has fed so many times today, my breasts never really had that "full" feeling... What could've happened today? Thanks BFC!

How else are we going to stay sane :D mommyjulz - i once posted a thread about "how much laundry are mummies doing once their babies arrive"...before my DD arrived! Ok, i am pulling my hair out. DD is 5weeks old and the last few days have been really rough with her not wanting to sleep. Then she finally gets to sleep only to wake up crying 5mins later. The 4am feed last night turned into an hour and a half screaming match. Nothing i did comforted her. This has been happening on and off for the last two weeks. She grunts and groans as soon as i put her down like she is in pain. Took her to the Dr and he said its just wind. I have done everything he has said still to no avail. Now the only thing i can put it down to is maybe caffine in my diet. I eat very healthy and the only vice i have is a few diet cokes or coke a day. I know not very healthy but its my only thing to keep me going with a toddler and a new born. If i have one its always immediatly after i express to try and ensure its out of my system 3 hours minnimum later. Any other thoughts ladies? My mind is thinking possible silent reflux?? But wanted to rule everything else out first? Anyone else had any experience with this? I could've written this post Leshell!!! And our DD's are the same age! So you are not alone :( I had a read through the Kellymom link which BFC has posted and am going to try experimenting with a few positions as see if there is any change... ps. I have no caffeine in my diet! And have pumped DD full of Gripe Water, Infacol, Infant Gaviscon - anything that i thought could relief her of whatever was unsettling her, but still no significant changes :(

I suffered from this for a few weeks, until it eventually cleared in the second trimester, around 16 weeks. The stuffiness is caused by the high amounts of estrogen during pregnancy, which causes swelling in the mucous membranes of the nose. Everyone is different and yours may not last as long as mine did, but i know how irritating it can be :(

Thanks KB, your post has helped loads! However, DH is a "no-go" on this one so will just have to bit the bullet and hope that the "it's a phase and will pass soon"...passes soon! DH is of the belief that it is normal for babies to cry/fuss/scream/feed and not sleep for hours on end! The Pediatrician confirmed that she has a touch of reflux and has all the symptoms of a colic baby :( I am hoping that her reflux does not worsen to the point that we have to give her meds, hence i started researching Cranial Osteopathy! Thanks again for taking the time to write and happy to hear that you had such wonderful results xxx

A book? DH has read so many books on pregnancy, but all written from a "man's perspective" and in words which they can understand ;) Light hearted and funny! The Blokes Guide to Pregnancy What to Expect when you Wife is Expanding Fatherhood - The Truth Or his own "special" burp cloth? I bought DD a onesie from H&M which says "I Love Dad" with matching socks! DH loves it when she wears it, he almost has that proud look upon his face! It's unisex as it is in white with red and black writing on it! When i was in H&M a few days ago they still had in stock! If DH is into gadgets, i bought DH an Itzbeen. It has a button for diaper, feeding, sleeping and one for any meds which you may need to give. So it tracks the minutes/hours since you last did any of those. DH loves it as men can be very hap-hazard when it comes to these things, so whenever i ask "when last was DD changed" he pulls out the Itzbeen ;) [url=http://www.itzbeen.com/'>Itzbeen[/url'>

Christeen - it's hard, and i have been there! The day we found out i was expecting, i cut down to 2 a day. I was not yet prepared for cold turkey :\: 1 week later, DH had a very sad look in his face, and asked me "for the health and sake" of our unborn child, to please stop (he is a smoker as well)! That was all it took, as i could see the hurt in his eyes! I guess until you really hear the words, it is very easy to live in a world of "denial"...and YES - seeing the heartbeat and seeing your miracle move, might just be the kick in the back side you need ;) It will come, you will see! If you want it desperately enough, your mind will take over and that will be! Your pregnancy hormones will be in over drive and you may even go off them automatically!?!? Best of luck x

I need to have hope that i will still be sane enough to make baby Nr 2, 3, 4... ;) Shaf - i was a walking time bomb around that stage! DH had nerves of steel and the patience of a saint with me - he never had a choice! But had good days and then bad days...and now - all forgotten already! Great news... which means I have ducked home this arvo for more clothes and supplies and I'm back to hospital today for my "real" rooming-in and fingers crossed, 48 hours of that and we're all home finally together as a family! I have spoken with the NICU Dr's and nurses who ALL find it very unusual to have a preemie baby that doesn't like bottles! He's gonna be a mummy's boy! :D **[b'>LIKE[/b'>** All the best Meals x

Another BUG lover here :D Practical, durable, the lightest stroller on the market and very easy to travel with!!! Many people argue, that you wont get the full use of the BUG in Dubai, well it really depends on the lifestyle that you live! We love taking DD for walks around the Lake and in the area. It handles well on uneven ground and also when navigating through narrow isles when out shopping! And the colours are cool as well ;) Not sure what "wr"? means, but i am guessing "where"? You can test drive or buy it from Just Kidding in Al Quoz, Mothercare Dubai Mall and Bumblebee Dubai Mall! We test drove it in the shops here and bought it in Europe as it is cheaper abroad!

{{{HUGS}}} to you LD! I know everything seems gloomy and grey today, but i thought i would just share this little poem with you that might get you through those really **tough** moments! [i'>You have so much more to look forward to...[/i'> * Giggles under the covers every night. * More love than your heart can hold. * Butterfly kisses and Velcro hugs. * A hand to hold, usually covered with jelly or chocolate. * A partner for blowing bubbles, baking cakes * Someone to laugh yourself silly with, no matter what the boss said or how you performed that day * finger-paint * play hide-and-seek * catch lightning bugs * never stop believing in Santa Claus. You have an excuse to: * keep reading the Adventures of Winnie the Pooh * watching Saturday morning cartoons * going to Disney movies, and wishing on stars * You get to frame rainbows, hearts, and flowers under refrigerator magnets and collect hand prints set in clay on Mother's Day, and cards with backward letters for Father's Day. * taking the training wheels off a bike * removing a splinter * coaxing a wad of gum out of bangs You get a front row seat to history to witness the: * first step, * first word, * first bra, * first date, and * first time behind the wheel. You get to be immortal. You get another branch added to your family tree! In the eyes of a child, you rank right up there under God. You have all the power to heal a boo-boo, scare away the monsters under the bed, patch a broken heart, police a slumber party, ground them forever, and love them without limits, So one day they will, like you, love without counting the cost :)

Hi LJB this might seems like a stupid question but after I read your post I got confused...I am also delivering at City in April, but wouldn't my doctor be delivering the baby, not a midwife? Yes - your Dr will be delivering your baby! I think what she meant was, you get to meet the midwives who will take care of your afterwards!?!? I did not do the ante-natal classes, but delivered at City and my Dr was there all the way!

I bought all my maternity pj's from M&S! The best ones are the button down ones if you are going to breastfeed! Easy access ;) I bought satin sleep shirts and then also a 3 piece soft touch pants, top & gilet set. The 3 piece was super comfy as it is the pants was the yoga style, so non restricting and easy to wear!

I can't believe that DD was 4 weeks old yesterday!!! Already - aaahhh!!! And becoming a little person with a personality ;) It certainly has been a challenging road thus far! We have no angel baby here! Think i must have given here everything under the sun already for her crying/screaming tantrums :( Finally onto Infant Gaviscon as it looks like she has a touch of reflux :( There is a wonderful Paed at The Meadows Clinic - he has a natural touch with babies and even makes you want to giggle when he speaks to them! And she also seems to be a little guzzler! Weighing 4.6kg, and birth weight was 3.6kg (3.4kg when we left the hospital) - so it looks like we have no problems with getting all the fatty hind milk :D How are the two of you getting along?
