The restaurant at the Organic Cafe has great food, but the staff are badly trained and unprepared. Having lunch last week: Me: Does the pumpkin curry comes with rice or should I order it separeatly? Waiter: We don't have rice maaaam. Me: Hum, strange, I have had rice here before. Waiter: No maaaam, we don't serve rice. Me: So, what can I have with my curry? Waiter: Maaaam, I will bring you some extra bread. Me: Oh well.... The curry came with rice... And I am still waiting for my extra bread. For some nationalities rice is bread. LOL

Probably Dubai Internet City metro station, but you'll need a taxi to go from there to the monorail.

Hi ladies, Does anyone know of any 1 bedroom apartments coming up for rent in the next month or so. Maybe you know someone moving out soon? Somewhere close to the metro would be ideal. Please help me. I'm fed up chasing estate agents like a headless chicken! We're moving out of our apartment in JLT, Green Lakes, right next door to the metro. I can ask how much the rent would be if you're interested!

Take My Junk....or try Cash Converters as others have suggested on here. Have you posted on Dubizzle? Maybe put up a sign in your building? Let your colleagues/friends know? I have posted in Dubizzle but it seems a lot of people are leaving the country at the moment too so there are several ads for furniture! I will contact Take My Junk.

Why don't you try something different than a hotel? Last time we went to Paris we rented a lovely apartment through airbnb.com and it was very affordable. In Rome I try to avoid hotels too, they are usually old and outdated. Try bedandbreakfast.com for some nice b&b to stay. From the airport you can easily get into town with the train (14 euros) or with a bus (4-6 euros, depending on the company), you'd get drop off at Termini Station and from there you'll be closer to your accommodation. You could easily see the major sites of Rome walking, but you'll need to take a bus to go to the Vatican. Don't miss Trastevere at night, I was there 2 weeks ago and had some amazing dinners, especially at a place called Cave Canem. Last time I went to Prague, I stayed at: http://www.aiquattroangeli.com/it/ it was well located and very comfortable. You can also walk to all the major tourist attractions and treat your kids to the best ice-cream in town at http://angelato.eu/. Enjoy your trip! There are 3 amazing cities to visit.

If you are interested, we're leaving the country and we're selling our amazing bed. It's a king size spring coil. The brand's Continental. We bought it from C4. It's one of the best beds I've ever had.

I totally understand you, I'm 20 years younger than you but I'm very respectful when it comes to clothing in Dubai (my mom says I dress like my grandma when she sees me, hehe) but even like that men stare at me as if they've never seen a woman before in their lives. It's very annoying. I thought about buying an abbaya but since I'm not Muslim I didn't want to offend anyone. So I just wear sunglasses ALL the time, that way I feel I'm being less stared at.

Morning Ladies. We're leaving Dubai at the end of August and during our time here have acquired a lot of stuff/furntiture. We are planning to ship some of this back to the UK and giving some away to charity but would like to try and sell some stuff too. Is anyone aware of there being a company here that will make an offer to buy all of your funiture in one go? It will save a lot of hassle rather than me having to do write ups on websites! Any help or guidance would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Did you try Cash converters? How did it go?

I remember checking some prices last year and there was no difference between the duty free and the actual shop. I'd suggest you buy it abroad, the prices are cheaper and sometimes you can get some free goodies as well, whereas here you don't even get a good costumer service. Anyways, here's the list from the Dubai Duty Free in case you want to check it and compare prices:http://www.dubaidutyfree.com/content/upload/documents/44-59_DV%20Listings%20JUL13.pdf

The brand is Imperia, I brought it straight from Italy: http://www.imperiapasta.com/ It lasts forever, my grandma has had hers for 30 years I think. It can make spaghetti, tagliatelle, the sheets for lasagna, fettuccine and many more. I was thinking to sell it at around 150aed but we can discuss it, of course.

Thanks The Dangerous Blonde, your words are very kind. Yes, as you imagined I don't have kids and since I'm still in my 20's I'm not planning to have kids ATM. I'm considering a move to Singapore, it seems to be an interesting place to spend a couple of years and I loved it when I visited there. I'm also starting to believe that degrees are overrated. After all, it's a matter of skills. Thanks a lot!!!

Thanks for all the helpful recommendations. :) edited by Asti on 01/06/2013 I bought mine from New Look, River Island and Primani (back home) Both River Island and New look deliver to Dubai and even with the delivery charge they are soooo much cheaper than buying them here Warehouse and Dorothy Perkins have a few too as I bought a couple in MOE Debenhams last week. There's a Grazia Insider card that you can get for free that entitles you to 20% off in New Look and some other stores. It's not bad, but it might be still cheaper to buy them online.

You should also check the Rijksmuseum, it was reopened last month, after being close for a long time. The Albert Cuyp Street Market is a fun outing too. And if you are interested in beer, the Heineken Experience is a great experience. edited by pmd on 20/05/2013

Hi PMD...if you sending stuff back..i think its best to check with the company who is shipping your things. the one we using is packing and shipping..its not more expensive but as far as i know it is better to let them pack and itemise the boxes...just sharing but of course its up to you how you do it. :) I prefer to pack my own stuff. Don't like the idea of other people going through my things, plus since I'm a bit of a freak control, I feel nobody would do it better than me, haha. I've checked with the company but they charge 50aed per box.

Hi, We're leaving Dubai for good in July and are still debating how are we going to manage to take our stuff to Italy. The plan is to take as little as possible, but over the years we have accumulated some stuff and it probably won't be enough for 2 suitcases. I'm not familiar with shipping companies so I was wondering if it's worth it, how long does it take and how much does it cost? TIA

Mine is real simple, I keep my face soap free and do the oil cleansing method with castor oil and olive or coconut oil twice a week. Once a week a homemade facial mask of turmeric powder, milk cream, rose water and honey. Rest of the body gets it nourishment with plain olive or coconut oil. Aloe vera is my sun block when I plan on spending the day out. Nice, I like your style ecochic!!! Thanks ladies, all the ideas are amazing and love the fact that they're natural too. edited by pmd on 08/05/2013

Why would you want to become vegetarian? Why not? People become vegetarian for different reasons: religion, health benefits (prevent sickness, keep your weight down), environment, spare animals, save water, save money. The list goes on and on...

A plant-based diet is the way to go, congratulations!!! I made the mistake of being a "junk food" vegetarian for some time until I switched to veganism and cut down on dairy and eggs. But, since you're just trying to become a vegetarian, I suggest you try to eat as many whole grains as possible, especially the pasta and breads. Juices and smoothies are both a great way of incorporating nutrients and vitamins. You can get some local ideas from this site: http://uaeveggies.com/

brought carefully the other day at the supermarket, 3 reusable bags full of veg mostly 900 AED nearly fell on the floor ! so yes the cost of everything has increased significantly lately, pity i dont see a pay rise for either of us coming anytime soon! edited by Mrsbrown nz on 15/04/2013 Were they all European-grown vegetables? some as they where berries, however alot where local... plus i buy all the time from Ripe... edited by Mrsbrown nz on 15/04/2013 There are cheaper options than Ripe for organic and local stuff too, since Ripe sells a lot of imported items as well.

You can just go to Hatta/Oman border and re enter the country with a visit visa, provided you have a passport that allows you to do so. Had to do the same last month and there were no issues whatsoever.

I think living in different countries, especially in different continents helps a lot. Then you'll only see each other once or twice a year and that's it. It will be different I guess when I have kids, but for now, that's how it's working out. I don't like the fact that she gets tickets to visit us before consulting with us before and sometimes she even goes, uninvited, on vacation with us, but since I don't want to create any problems, I just put up with it. But I'd never like to live in the same country as her though.
