I have the feeling that the mentality here is "fake it till you make it". Then of course it's up to you if you want to do it or not, it's a question of principles and also what situation you are in at the moment. If a was desperate for a job and needed to support a family, I might have accepted. Otherwise, I'd wait until something more appropriate for me comes along.

Is Bertolli 36dhs better than Carrefour 18dhs? Is there really a difference? Extra Virgin Oil first cold pressed is best and may explain the difference in prices. It should say on the label. Do not use for cooking as when heated, it becomes toxic. Use cooking olive oil (if you can find it). I personally use Virgin Coconut Oil (from the Organic shop in DM) which can be heated safely and does not leave a coconut taste in your food. I buy the Greek Extra Virgin Oil first cold pressed from Park N Shop. It is cheaper than Bertolli and tastes very nice. Sorry to disagree with you, but what you're saying is not true. Otherwise we will be all intoxicated after eating at Italians restaurants in Dubai since they use extra virgin olive oil in their kitchen. I use extra virgin olive oil for everything, Italian only, you can find some good ones at Ripe's Market and at Park n' Shop. I pay around 30aed for a 750ml bottle.

Hi Nadiya, My nutritionist gave me green tea to loose weight and detox around 10 years ago and I haven't left it since. I have it 2-3 times a day. You should have one in the morning for breakfast, one before lunch and one in the afternoon, but not after 6, otherwise you won't be able to sleep. I'm buying the Rabea one here, you can find it in Geant or sometimes C4. You can have whatever you want with it. Drinking green tea has a lot of health benefits, if not ask the Chinese!

What kind of bike? There's a shop at the Gold & Diamond Park that sells very good quality ones. Otherwise, there are some shops in Satwa, that are OK.

No, I don't have children so it was adults only trip. Yes, we stayed in Yerevan, you can fly flydubai from here and there are several nice hotels there. From there there's a tour company that organizes sightseeing tours all over the country: http://www.hyurservice.com/eng/ We took one to visit some monasteries and lake Sevan. The Opera and ballet theatre is quite good and we were able to get ticket for the opera Carmen, for very few dirhams. And the Genocide museum is a must see. There's an amazing place to eat Armenian traditional food: http://www.dolmama.am/ and a lot of good options for food and drinks in general. We didn't have any problems regarding electricity or heating, people are very nice although most of them don't speak English. It's interesting although sometimes you can feel as if they are still in 1920's.

I just came back from a short break in Armenia and I'd like to recommend it for all of you that like culture, history and a break in Dubai weather. It's just a 3 hours flight away from us and it's a wonderful place to visit. PS: I'm not Armenian.

I book everything online, it's easy and I prefer it because I can customize the trip myself. I find Dnata and most of the companies that operate from here quite expensive. For flights you can check: www.skyscanner.net And for hotels I use www.expedia.com and tripadvisor to check reviews. The Thorn Tree Forum from Lonely Planet is very good for advices as well.

Is anyone else experiencing a 'smoke' problem in their apartment? In the afternoons/evenings and in the middle of the night -- we get an awful lot of smoke (cigarette/cigar) inside our apartment and we can't tell where it is coming from. It doesn't seem to be coming from the hall or our balcony. Any idea? -- Any one else with this problem? It's quite distressing with a baby especially! Yes we get it too sometimes in the laundry room and toilet, no idea where it comes from, but I guess it comes from the neighbors upstairs.

Cote d'azur is lovely, although it will be a bit crowded at that time of the year. If you fly into Nice, then you can rent a car and head to St Paul de Vence, Antibes, Cannes, Grasse, and if you have time I really recommend the Iles d'Hyeres, amazing place.

Any supermarket cakes are a no-no for me. Just sponge and cream..not the real thing. But that's just me. I happily go with Limetree, Paul's, maybe French Connection (Shaikh ZR) or many more that I don't know of. Shakespeare maybe? Go for something nice for your b-day :) 260 aed for a carrot cake :\: I know it's good, and I love it myself, but isn't it a bit too much?

Mazaraa is delivering again to JLT now, they just called me to let me know that this week's produce is available at this new organic shop at Al Seef Tower, and the prices are very reasonable. Do you have more info on this? ie where, when prices? I have heard about it before I think This is their website: http://blueplanetgreenpeople.com/index.html I will go tomorrow and I already know they have strawberries this week :) Thanks, I have called them and will check it out tomorrow. I went to pick up some stuff today. They have carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, cauliflower, eggs and cherry tomatoes. They ran out of strawberries though :(

I am totally biased because I am a long-time customer but I personally would recommend Purely Pearls. They advertise on here and often attend the bigger breakfast events such as the Breakfast at the Burj. Check out: www.purely-pearls.com I thought pearls were expensive? How come the pearls on Purely-pearls website are quite inexpensive? Maybe they're not so pure ;) pmd: While I realize that comment... "Maybe they're not so pure" was likely made kiddingly, I think this company is actually very committed to selling GENUINE CULTURED PEARLS. In actuality, they sell their product on to shops and consultants around the world and if you buy it from them direct, you get a great price. They have been making a new design of a breast cancer bracelet for years in the UAE and donate thousands of dirhams to cancer charities here. Unless you are making reference to some sort of grievance (and it doesn't sound like you are), then I think it is unfair to make the implication of "not so pure". Funny how people quesion the authenticity of something because it is not as expensive as they think it should be. This is part of the world was the center of the pearling community a hundred years ago but now it is essentially a diamond and gold place. The pricing of pearls in the brand name shops and the gold souks is absolutey ridiculous - just ask anyone who has ever travelled to China (the pearl capital of the world). I was just kidding, in fact I love pearls and I'll check out the place myself!

I attend adult ballet classes at Sharmila and she's a great teacher. I've been doing ballet all my life now and I wish my previous teachers were like Sharmila, and she seems to get along very good with kids as well.
