No, it's not a holidays at all. It's just duties. In fact, I've decided not to go home this year and stay here for Ramadan, that will be a real holiday.

I think they are very rough here, every time I go I come out of there almost crying. I'm seriously considering to start doing it myself instead of going through that awful pain. They should be paying us for the pain they cause us...

I have read A thousand splendid suns and I loved it. I haven't read the Kite Runner, but I tried watching the movie last week and I couldn't finish it because it was too hard for my taste, I couldn't stop crying :(

Go for the Lira, and withdraw a lot of them, since you'll love it there and there are soooooo many things to buy.

Is it really that much different from our home countries? Do any of you come from a country where most of the produce you eat has not traveled several hours? Yes, it's very different. In my home country we also eat seasonal, so you won't find oranges all year round.

It's so hard to be green and vegetarian in this country. On the subject of local production, have you seen any fruits? Yesterday at C4 I was able to find local tomatoes, lettuce, cucumbers and mushrooms. But no fruits :(

Scouse Brow anyone? [url=http://fashion.telegraph.co.uk/news-features/TMG8997240/Scouse-Brow-a-beginners-guide.html'>link[/url'> Just today I tried the eyebrow stencil, they're doing a promotion in Marina Mall and Dubai Mall and you get to try it for free. I'm actually not impressed by it. On the same subject, I've noticed that some local women, and some other Arabs, wax off all their hair from their eyebrows and then get them painted. Can someone explain the purpose of this? Sorry if it's a dumb question...

Brown rice is great, I've been eating it for 10 years now and I never buy/eat white rice. Brown rice's healthier and for the environment as well, since it doesn't go through all the process that the white one goes through. However, I let it sit in the water for 20 minutes before cooking it, since it takes longer to cook than white rice.

I go every year to Cannes and the south of France, if you can, rent a car, if not you can easily move around with trains. We usually stay in a hotel in the promenade in Nice, but this year I'm considering renting a small house or apartment. If you can, try to do a day trip to Ile Saint-Margerite from Cannes, it's lovely and the beaches are beautiful. You can also try airbnb.com for apartment rentals.

I emailed Alliance Francaise 2 days ago and received no reponse so I put a message o their FB page and they deleted it!! Any ideas on how you're supposed to get details/current time table? They're not looking very professional so far though from what I can tell the actual courses are good They're a bit lazy when it comes to reply e-mails. I even tried calling many times and nobody seems to pick up the phone. Anyways, try with this e-mail: [email protected]. She did reply to me. Good luck.

Am planning a trip to Jordan in April, the first week, not the second as it's Easter holidays and some hotels are sold out already. Have been told that one night in Amman is enough so will do that, then 2 nights in Petra and 2 nights on the Dead Sea. The Movenpick hotel at the entrance to Petra has come highly recommended by a friend and their hotel on the Dead Sea is supposed to be very nice too :-) Was also told to hire a driver as there are police checkpoints in certain areas so the driver facilitates that for you plus he knows the routes and you can sit back and enjoy the trip even more and not have to worry about car hire. One night in Amman is more than enough, there's actually not much to see/do there and it can be a bit boring, there's a restaurant called Wild Jordan Cafe close to Rainbow street that it's perfect to hang out and also nearby another one called Books@ Cafe. The Movenpick in Petra is a very good choice, their food is excellent. Make sure you do the night tour in Petra, since it's a very different experience. Enjoy.

Went to Nepal last year in Feb and to Jordan in May, weather was a bit cold in Nepal and lovely in Jordan. You can fly with Flydubai to Kathmandu and to Amman. In Jordan the best thing to do is to hire a driver, that way is easy to move around and it's not very pricey. If you would like to go trekking in Nepal, there are different travel agencies that will organize the trek for you. Both places are amazing.

I used to work on the ships and I love cruising, accidents happen once every blue moon, although virus happen more often, almost every ship gets a virus during one season. If you want to see many places in one trip, cruising it's still the best, and cheapest, option.

I sometimes use a driver that charges 500aed for the whole day. Otherwise, they can go by bus and use local taxis there. Or go by taxi, it's around 180aed one way.

Where my DH's from they celebrate Valentine's in June :\: so he always forgets about it in February. However, last year he prepared a special meal for me, with champagne included. This year, I already got a card, I'll buy him a small present and I'll prepare his favorite meal and dessert. It's nice to have an excuse to celebrate love :)

The Ripe Market it's quite good, I don't know about the kids part though, but there are a lot of small vendors of craft and food, the Ripe's boxes and the Raw Coffee it's as good as it gets in Dubai. I go almost every Saturday.

*Waving out* Hiya SD! Food would be a bit spicy. Leg space is not all that great (mm ... very little I would say) and the seats are not that comfy either (I am comparing it with Emirates. Never used Gulf Air so not sure.) And as about Mumbai Airport it is ok for an Indian Airport ;) Jet Airways is supposed to be the best in India. Have you been to Delhi airport? There's no way you can compare with the Mumbai one. The Delhi airport is big, new and clean, almost like Dubai airport. However the Mumbai one is small, old and dirty. I had the worse stopover ever there.

I'd suggest you report the driver to Aramex, they tend to be very careful with this things as it can really affect their reputation. Even a message on Twitter will do it.

My Mum's looking at a flight between Dubai and Bangkok but just wondered if anone had feedback on the airline please. Not forgetting my TIA..... ;) I flew to Bangkok through Delhi and Mumbai with them. Tell your mom not to expect anything amazing and to be prepared for a lot of curry and spices in her food. Also tell her to watch her back for the landing, as the pilots tend to be a bit rough. BTW, if she can avoid to do connection through Mumbai, better, as the airport is awful and the lounges are even worse. You're welcome ;)

It's a difficult situation, but I guess my mother would have encourage me to chose for myself and to make a decision taking everything into account. Ask your son this question: in 10 years from now, would you regret not having pursued your dream of studying in the US? If the answer is yes, then he knows the way. And nowadays it's easy to stay in touch through Skype, so he will still be able to keep in touch with his girlfriend, if it's true love, distance will make the heart grow fonder.

Happy birthday :) Can you politely inform your DH that since he was clearly too busy to buy you anything himself, you have gracefully decided to save him the time and trouble, and will be using his credit card to buy your own gift / weekend away / massage, as you are sure he would have done had he had the time or inclination... :D Yes, please, do it. Get a full day for yourself, with spa and dinner included. And don't forget to stop at the mall! Have a fantastic Birthday, you deserve it.

Unfortunately I don't know who my landlord is, I have his name on the contract, but I've never seen his face. But I find it very strange that we are not able to get the owner's number nor from the agent or the management, there's something fishy about it. Security changing again, really?
