If you have the choice, DESS is a far better school.

I moved my children from Horizon to another school and realised how low the academic standard was at Horizon across 4 year groups. Wouldn't recommend it on the academic front. There are other schools that focus on the whole child, sports and not at the expense of academic standards. edited by pocketrocket on 10/11/2013

I sat next to an unaccompanied minor a year or so ago on aflight to Manchester with emirates. She was 9 years old and the the staff were an absolute disgrace with her. The steward informed me that she was an unaccompanied minor and would I mind keeping an eye on her, I informed her surely that was her job. When they gave out colour pads etc they completely by passed her. When refreshments were served they never asked her, so basicly just ignored her and the same when the food was served. I had to press the call button three times to actually get a steward to inform they she hadnt been given a meal. I asked t speak to whoever was in charge of cabin crew. I informed them of what was happening and NOTHING CHANGED. Not once on a 7 hr flight did they come and check that she was alright. Small things like showing her how to the ICE system. It was absolutely disgusting service from Emirates so I would strongly recommend you use another airline. I felt so sorry for this girl. I can only assume that the crew thought she was my daughter. But even so it does not excuse there absolute failure to ensure the safety and well being of this child who had been placed in there care.

Are there many primary schools here then that don't have a year 7 with automatic entry? I can think of JAPS and Horizon. Also secondaries without a linked primary that they guarantee places to? I can think of DC and maybe JC if it's no longer lnked with JPS. JPS is still the feeder school for JC

I have not had surgery with Dr. Whatley but I have attended him and he is very personable, explains everything and seems very experienced, if I had required surgery I would have been very comfortable to do it with him. Good Luck. Thank you :-)

There is a possibility I may need to have some knee ligament damage fixed via an arthroscopy has anyone had any dealings in this area with either Dr Whatley and Dr McKillop at Medcare Hospital? Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Cant speak for Safa but I've had experience with Horizon school which is the sister school of Safa and JPS. If Safa is like Horizon I would say hands down JPS. Academic standards are far far higher, excellent teachers. Classes are about 24-27 which is the same at Horizon so wld guess thats the case at safa. Communication is excellent, just enough homework. PE at JPS is good aswell.

Hi I've had one child go through all the way and my another one in FS1 now. The headmistress is just amazing I cant praise her enough. Miss Heidi who does the baby class is fantastic. The next yr group I cant comment on as the teacher who had both my kids has gone back to the UK. FS1 is great and is to my knowledge the only one in Dubai that is more like a british prep pre-school. They play and do phonic number work etc. Also french three times a week. Its much more then what they wld do at my son's primary school. Classes are small. They do regluar trips. Put shows on every term which are excellent. Really cant recommend the place highly enough. Good mix of locals and expats. My son has a life threatening nut allergy which they have taken very seriously and have been really helpful wiith. If u have any doubts go speak to the Head.
