I had a very awful experience with one of the named clinics on here about four years ago. I attended an appointment for bikini laser treatment and when I came out there was officials from the health department waiting outside the room. They asked me a few questions then went in and spoke to the person who did the treatment evidently was not qualified to do this and was a dentist and had been prosecuted before for having dirty equipment and was subsequently prosecuted again this time for not being qualified, so please be careful, don't do what I did and think they are qualified just because they advertise it, check properly.

This should be on the front page of 7 days with a reward leading to information of who did it. This country wants to show the world its a place where people can come and enjoy themselves, but behind the scenes animal abuse is happening on a large scale, disgusting things like this go on and nothing is done about it. Even owing any sort of gun should send alarm bells ringing, if not an animal then it could be a child or person thats injured through a stray bullet or shot. What is the government doing about it... nothing, but turning a blind eye.

Ive been in Dubai five and half years now, and everytime I go back to the UK (I come from Norfolk for all those on here who have been talking about the East Coast and know Gorleston and Lowestoft), and return to Dubai it becomes harder to return. I love the countryside, the coastal walks, Norfolk Broads, I guess Im more of a country person than city. Having just become a Nanny for the second time and very elderly parents the urge is even greater, I think our time is coming to an end here. I met my DH here which is something that Dubai has given me and Im grateful for that. But DH has been here 23 years so is able to judge Dubai, he has seen many changes and is now disliking the place by the day. It has given me an insight to living abroad, but more so how much our families mean to us, trying to juggle this can be very hard for people and this is becoming far more important than living and working here for us.

We had the same thing happen to us in May. The cat arrived at the door, meowing and wanting attention, she stayed around. She was in good condition suggesting she either belonged to someone or had been abandoned (which I think was probably the case), had her ear clipped which meant she was neutured, went to the vets to check for a microchip but she didnt have one. We gave her some food and water and a pillow outside to sleep on. I would suggest putting posters up and flyers under peoples gates to see if anyone owns the cat or knows whose it is or take it to the vets to see if there is a microchip. I did that initially but no one came forward. We have now had her microchipped, vaccinated and she is part of our family and is a beautiful, loving and friendly cat.

I live in Al Badaa which is in walking distance to Satwa in the winter months. It is central to both the North and South of Dubai, easy access to Sheikh Zayed Road, Al Wasl and Beach Road. Dubai Mall is a short taxi ride away as is the metro for Financial Centre and Emirates Towers. The properties are well maintained in this area.

I have used Eternal Med Spa twice and they offer touch up up to 3 weeks after the initial session. They are expensive though. Would still need more sessions at similar price even though there wasnt as much to take off. Now trying The Dental Spa which is cheaper but they dont do the touch up afterwards, will see how this works out.

I hadnt planned to adopt a cat but with one ending up outside my door in pretty good condition with ear clipped suggesting she had be spayed and belonged at some stage to someone (think she was abandoned). Had me trawling the streets trying to find out whose she was with flyers and posters on lamp posts finally ended up getting her microchipped and taken her in. She is the most adorable little cat you can imagine. We named her Willow. She sits on the settee watching tv. Comes and goes through the cat flap we have put in the empty maids room with her bedding and food. Put her in there at nights to make sure she is safe. These things we do because we care. Some people are so cold and unloving towards animals it is so sad. They dont choose their lives on the streets, people who have animals should get them neutured/spayed as soon as it is possible to do, that way there wont be all these strays. Willow will come with us when we leave here, thats the responsiblity we have not to abandon her like she was before.

Thats great news, well worth all the effort being put in from alot of kind hearted people. Wish there was a lot more around to save other cats in similar situations. Thank you for the update.

We have recently had a female Arabian Mau adopt us. We tried to get her a permanent home, but now have had her microchipped and vaccinated (she was already spayed). We think she was probably abandoned as she was in a good state of health. Im sure she would not get along with another cat in the home as before we think she had been bullied by some of the other cats living in nearby villas. However, she has attitude and sulks if you tell her off for something (just like a child!!). As the Arabian Mau is what they seem to call 'local cats' you might find that as she has been in contact previously with others like her she will protective of her food as they have to fight for whatever they can get when they are on their own. Its so nice to hear that you want to give another kitten/cat in need a home, wish there were more like you. Good luck

Well Im heading off tomorrow, but before I go am taking the cat to the vets to get it microchipped and first injections. Other injections due in 3-4 weeks. We are not keeping her but thought this might help in re-homing her if everything is up to date and trying to be responsible for a defenceless creature, shame alot of other people cant do the same and throw them out on the streets when they get bored or leave here. I applaud anyone who takes on stray animals and tries to give them at least some love and attention while they can. Luckily this time I have a kind neighbour who is willing to come and feed the cat until my husband returns. Hopefully will be back once my mum recovers from major surgery. Bye for now.

Hi Sue, did ask around at his office, some have cats already so unable to help. Have managed to ask a neighbour for time being but she is going away after first week of July, so will have to rethink before that what to do with the cat.

Thanks JS, yes time is running out to find a permanent home for it. Been indoors again today watching tv and sitting on the sofa... seems to be getting very trusting as before seem to run away whenever anyone moved suddenly. Would make someone a lovely pet once it gained their trust. Is a very clean cat.

Hubby wont be around either. Back in a week, but then off again. May have someone who could pop round once a day, but still doesnt solve the permanent issue. Tried to get it round the back of the villas where there is food left out (they know we are doing this!!) but it keeps following us back to our place, which is near a busy road which is a worry. Oh well, will just have to leave it and hope she gets on ok if someone can pop round thats all I can do.

Thanks JS, I really wouldnt want her to go to a pet shop, especially if there are dogs there as she gets quite frightened of noises, she wouldnt survive staying in a cage she likes her space. I contacted DARC they cant help, lady said she cant take anymore cats. Didnt offer to put on facebook either. Feline Friends Ive put her details on there too. They again cant take anymore on, but were more helpful and have my details. She is now inside watching TV again!!

I now have a date Im leaving Dubai to go and look after my mum... this Sunday and still not been able to find a home for this little cat. Been in contact with all the organisations and just been told unable to help. Such a shame as it really doesnt go much further than our garden and not sure how it will cope.

Hi Sue She looked a bit thinner when we came back. Neighbour will feed her while we are away but that isnt going to solve the ultimate thing of finding her a home, especially when leave Dubai. She wont survive without the neighbours help, she doesnt seem to go out of our garden hardly at all now.

Im the friend who has this cat. Found in our garden in Al Badaa a month ago. It is now getting to the stage where we are just going to have to leave her to her own devices outside our villa as due home very shortly for mums operation. Unless someone could adopt her or foster her with the view that Feline Friends might be able to find a home eventually for her. It breaks my heart to see her having to do this as she loves attention and having people around her alot. She would suit a home where she is the only pet and like to be able to pop in and out of the house not continually indoors. If anyone can help let me know please.

Cat I think is sorted now. Think she (we think its a she) has been going from villa to villa and we think when other cats move in at those villas she maybe bullied a bit so goes and looks for another place to look appealling and cry for food. No chip but speaking to near neighbours she has been fed by a couple of households behind my villa, explained we will be away so they will keep an eye out for her and feed her if she needs it. What nice neighbours.

Its the fact we are going away in 2 days that is the urgency to find its home if it has one. Unfortunately we will just have to leave it outside and hope if finds some more people who are happy to feed it for the time being, there are a couple of people who leave food out for some cats.

Hi Sue Your are one side of Al Wasl Park, Im in 49 St. other side. Thanks for the offer of food, just brought some dried food as tin stuff goes too hard outside, also left water out for it. Did want to encourage it too much just in case it has a home very nearby, but in the end it has been hanging around all the time for the last 3 days. will take a picture and put it on dubizzle and try on here too. Although affectionate dont think it will allow us to pick it up to get it to the vets.

Sue B, I think you live in my area Al Badaa. Wonder if you have heard of anyone around here who may have left this area and gone without their cat, or has lost a cat. I have one who has appeared within our villa garden, seems in good condition, has a clipped ear, white with tabby markings especially down its back and black rings and tabby tail. Looks maybe a year old, very affectionate. We are travelling alot so cannot take it in, but obviously would like to reunite it with its owner if its lost.

Sorry to hear about your sister in law Sandgirl3. Im due to go home next week as my mum is having breast surgery, with results to follow, its not easy being so far away at a time when they need so much support. I count myself lucky and can travel and look after her. I wish your sister in law well and hope that after the surgery she will make a good recovery.

Al Hamra is lovely. City Hilton is awful, needs refurbishing, bad check in service took over an hour and the room wasnt ready, room smelt of cigarettes, took ages to get towels at the pool, food awful and when we went to complain about things staff attitude was dreadful. Drove to the Beach Hilton that was very nice. We are debating about the Cove, have a Rotana card which we have had for a number of years and it still gives us good deals on meals and accommodation.

My first EW event apart from the coffee mornings it was great fun. Was still finding sequins and glitter stuck to me when I got home!! Thanks to EW, Bab Al Shams, Ford and the ladies for making it a good day.
