I inquired about ballet classes, and my understanding is that all the professional dancing schools like turning pointe etc take from 3 years old, however, if you want a more casual one, they have ballet classes at kidsville. There is lots of info on here for ballet schools as well. good luck

Regarding Cocoon's island, well, when I was touring it, I saw two male workers fixing the tiles of the classroom ( with some kind of glue) while the kids were eating their lunch in the same classroom!!!! That shocked me! My child attends the uum suqeim branch of Children's Oasis. edited by Proudmama012 on 09/07/2012

I also second Children's Oasis, fantastic teachers and very warm environment. I toured almost all nurseries, and I like Children's Oasis the most:) My child never cried there from day 1:) I am a very overprotective mum and this nursery has given me peace of mind!! The problem is with Children's Oasis is that waitlists can be massive, so you have to write down ur child ASAP and be flexible with their timings until you get a place. As for the other two, I did not visit rising stars, but I toured Cocoon's Island and I advise you to stay away from them! Good luck

I delivered with Dr. britt and I highly recommend her. I think if they made a mistake with your booking with Dr. Britt, then you should ask them to change it, it is your right!

I hope it works for you Helen cause unfortunately it did not work for me and we are getting separated. My advice is that in case it does not work for you, do not blame yourself, and make sure you tell yourself that you did the best you could. some things unfortunately do not change. Good luck.

We used the BOX a few months ago, and they were very good. I highly recommend them. the storage area is air conditioned, and there is 24/7 camera. They also come to your house, and pack everything for you, and also deliver and unpack for you. They provide cardboard boxes, and wrap the furniture very neatly. Customer service is very good, and you will be given your own contact person in case you were overseas ( we were) and need to check on your belongings. edited by Proudmama012 on 25/06/2012

To be honest, if i were put in that situation, I would absolutely have no problem to be the breadwinner! that's of course as long as the DH does not put all the load on me, by making me take care of the kids and work too!!

I did not experience the same situation ( I am sorry to hear and I wish you all the best in your current pregnancy), but I also second Dr. Britt Clausson. She delivered my baby recently and she was so good on all levels. She is very knowledgeable, experienced and very supportive..You will be in safe hands with her. Good luck and wish you all the best..

I really do not get some people on here! There are millions of Expats living in the UAE and you do not really know who the OP is, so what makes some of you so sure that the identity will be revealed if you do not know the OP, or her friend! she just asked for advice because she is concerned about her friend. Not all of us have enough social support, and are very confident of our opinions that we do not ask others' point of view. For the OP, I think your friend should tell her husband that she and the baby are his responsibility, and she is the only one who has the sole right, where she wants to have her baby..She should not leave if she does not want to...

I think sending your child to nursery at this age is a totally personal choice. However, having said that, I think that it is a not bad idea..I also waited with my first till she was 2+ but i will send my second baby much earlier. If you talk about the bugs, she will catch them anyway whether she is 1 or 2 years of age as in both cases their bodies are not yet immune to all the foreign dirt coming in, so it is kind of inevitable i am afraid. If they do not get sick at nursery, they will get sick at school, so pick your time:) lol..Others are right they will get sick a lot at the beginning, so if you plan on working later on, it is better to send her while you are still at home because it will be very difficult to work when your child starts nursery.I honestly had no luck with baby groups, but I am also a shy person, so it did not work out for me.Not that my social life is better now that my DD is at nursery:), but i guess it is easier to make friends when your DD is at nursery or school and you get invited to birthdays etc etc..I personally think a nursery is a very good option for the social development of the kids ( my DD had speech problems and her language ability started booming when she joined nursery) and also for the moms who have no other options for babysitting..

I tried both, first labor without epidural and second labor with epidural...Yes it is painful but I also agree that such pain is not for everyone. Saying that, no I did not feel any less joy by taking the epidural! personally, I would take the epidural any day:))

Hi Proudmama, I saw from your earlier post you were with Dr. Britt at City? I am also seeing her - did the epidural hurt when they gave it to you, and sorry to ask but did the stitches heal up ok? Just my sister in law had an awful drama with her stitches, they had to be re-done a few times and she was in so much pain... Sorry for the personal question - hope you are not offended For the epidural, not really. the pain was just for a second:) the anesthesiologist was really good. I had no problems afterwards, and I managed to pee 2 hours later:) my stitches healed up fine. They gave me some voltaren which i took for a few days then stopped. Dr. Britt saved me from a potential c-section and stitched me up so neatly:) love her..I had a stressful pregnancy and delivery and she was so good to me, so cannot stop praising her!

I had natural birth with my two children, and thanks to the care I received, I only had a few stitches each time, and mind you, my last one was 4 kilo baby! I had an amazing doctor who delivered my baby safely with only a few stitches:)) I cannot say anything about C-section, but i do know that you heal faster with natural delivery ( I was driving 2 days after delivery:)) C-section however is an operation..As for delivery pain, you can always have an epidural ( it is a god send) I had my first without an epidural and gush that was painful!!

I gave birth at City Hospital recently. My doctor was Britt Clausson, she is amazing!! she delivered my big baby naturally with only a few stitches:)))) For me, it was mostly a hit and miss with the hospital. My delivery was really good, I was very well taken care of, but the aftercare was not..however, other people have had wonderful experiences from A to Z. to be honest, i think it depends on your luck! edited by Proudmama012 on 13/06/2012

Thing is that most of the women you see in such clothes are actually Arab and Muslim!!! That's quite a stretch! How do you know their religion and nationality? Because I am half Arab and speak fluent Arabic..Arabs know each other:))) Maybe religion is a bit a stretch like you said, I think what I meant to say is mainly related to Arabs whether muslims or christians cause in essence the Arab " dress code" has nothing to do with religion. Muslim and Christian Arabs share the same conservative values. edited by Proudmama012 on 13/06/2012

Thing is that most of the women you see in such clothes are actually Arab and Muslim!!! Whether tourists or not, they are very aware that it is a Muslim country!! Thing is in many Muslim countries, the law has no say in what women wear; however, almost all women cover up for fear of extreme sexual harassment. Here in Dubai though, sexual harassment is almost none existent, so women feel free and more confident...

Just Kidding store is the official distributor in the middle east, so they handle the warranty issue. However, if you buy the Bugaboo from abroad, then you will not get the warranty with them. you will have to do that where you bought the bugaboo from. edited by Proudmama012 on 10/06/2012 But the warranty is with Bugaboo for 2 years, not the shop you purchased it from. I know this is Dubai. But it would be interesting to see what Bugaboo would have to say if they knew one of their official distributors was not playing ball. The cost of the original product is irrelevant, if it is under warranty, Bugaboo will pick up the cost of the repair not Just Kidding, except maybe staff time handling the process. Lucky this isn't the case for other distributor's, like when I took my Nikon camera, which I bought in the UK, for repair in Deira, or when I had to get a Miele guy to come out and service my washing machine, which I also bought in the UK! edited by Scribs on 10/06/2012 yeah you are right, but maybe they have a deal with them. I do not know..I bought mine from abroad a few years ago, and they were willing to help me when i needed something fixed, but then i was told later that they would not provide warranty if the buggabo was bought from abroad!

I was told by Just Kidding staff themselves that they won't cover warranty if your bugaboo is bought from abroad. They did offer warranty before, but not anymore as the difference in price between bugaboo in holland and here in dubai is quite big!

Well, I have been eating there since they opened, and I find the food delicious and the people to be really nice and friendly! Regarding your complaint about the pizza slices, they make a very big size pizza, so of course it won't be freshly made, and that is pretty obvious as it is on display. However, if u order a normal size pizza, it is freshly made. Try the salami pizza, it is delicious! the bolognese pasta and capri salad are amazing too. yes, it is not cheap, but in my opinion cannot be compared to oregano. Taglio is so much more delicious!! edited by Proudmama012 on 08/06/2012

I have just phoned Dubai Taxis and I got the following information: Taxis in Dubai can carry babies on lap if they are in the back seat. It is not necessary to travel with a baby in a car seat in Dubai. Some ladies taxis have a baby car seat when if you book one of those 'they might come or they might not come' so you cannot really rely on this service In Holland it is the same too. you are allowed to travel with the baby on your lap in a taxi; however, it is illegal to do the same in your own car!! so very conflicting!! I know about the Taxi service here, that is why i always take the car seats, and you do not have to pay for weight, when checking them in, so win win situation:) Oh so some airlines take car seats at no extra cost....dou know if etihad do as well? No sorry, I know that Emirates and KLM do not charge for checking in car-seats. Call etihad and ask.

It is infanrix that is high in aluminum that our doctor offers. I believe in spacing out vaccines and not doing combination shots, but you should double check the combination shot is not tripedia as that one contains Mercury. is tripedia, the name of the vaccine?

Does anyone have any advice on the safest brands of dtap and polio vaccine that are offered here in Dubai? I would have liked to use daptacel and poliorex as I heard that these were the safest but cannot find anywhere in Dubai. If anyone has any knows would be great as my daughter pediatrician only offer the dtap with too high aluminum and the polio vaccine I had never heard of. Thanks. I am sorry I do not have the answer to your question, but I wanted to ask you about the name of the brand that you say, has too high aluminum in it as i am in the process of giving my two months old her vaccines too? also, is it Dtap and polio in the same vaccine?

I suggest you tell them if they start talking in a way that it is God's will, just say that islam also says " Al weqaya khair men al 3elag" which means that prevention is better than treatment. I think if you start with showing videos, it might be taken the wrong way, so I suggest you start by mentioning real stories that happened in the UAE. Also, if you communicate with them via e-mail, you can always forward them those videos, but make sure you send them to a number of people so that they do not take it personal. Sometimes the best way to spread a message is by sending it indirectly and in a discreet way. Hope this helps.

The culture is to buy gold. Hope this helps But that is for baby girls right? If the boy is muslim gold would be a no-go. Not really, it applies to both baby girls and baby boys! they are not bought for the intention to be worn, but gold is viewed as a valuable present in the Arab culture..

Dr. Britt delivered my big baby last month naturally and with very few stitches! During the delivery, I had a rather difficult one and she kept checking on me all the time. I felt I was really in safe hands. She is very professional, knowledgeable and what I loved about her that she tried her best to get to know me as a patient and she always asked my permission before doing anything whether during the prenatal appointments ( ie ultrasounds) or even during the delivery! She even remembered everything I requested for during the delivery without even writing a birth plan! so yes, I totally recommend her:) Hope this helps
