You could buy an experience at www.dubaiautodrome.com. The single seater experience looks like fun. Have a look at the offer/voucher sites for massages etc . A meal out. Time Out had some fabulous vouchers in last weeks edition, choose from a restaurant in there. Arabian Ranches Golf Club has a Fathers Day meal planned I am sure other places do to. An IOU foot massage, lie in, designated driver etc etc. Also take a look at expatechodubai they have some ideas on their web page. It depends on your budget and location for some of the above. edited by Queen Bee on 14/06/2011

All I have eaten is eggs! Been three days now and I am just starting to feel a little better. I have watched so much TV my eyes are square ;-) DH is out tonight so I have to fend for myself for dinner. Soup out of a tin sounds like an option either tomato or mushroom is always a good "poorly" food choice ;-)

I have only had take out from the Orient Pavillion and we enjoy it. I cannot comment on dining in but I live by the rule that if food is delicious on take out it can only be better dining in the restaurant. Note- that they donot serve alcohol.

Look for my ex wardrobe on Facebook or www.myexwardrobe.com. They have sales of high street and high end label clothes. I think their next sale is in July.

I am maybe not the best qualified to give advice on this but what I do know,a nd please someone correct me if I am wrong, is that you will need a degree to even get in the door of most companies. There are and have been numerous threads on here with regards to different job websites and recruitment companies and I think there is alot of frustration in dealing with these. I cannot offer any more advise other than keep checking the jobs on EW and keep networking. Good luck :)

I hear you. I have been a housewife for nearly 4 years. And if I could turn back the clock I would have been more productive with my time, but, onwards and upwards. :-) What are these jobs asking for that you dont have? Excel, word, spreadsheet expertise? If so enrol in a class either online or have a look at Knowledge Village website they may have classes there. Start a hobby that you could maybe turn into a career. I also think it's who you know in Dubai and not always what you know. I am, after my wasted 4 years, looking at starting an TESL course and also looking to into excel, word and spreadhseet courses. Also I want to learn a language. I have no idea for what purpose I will use the latter but it's about time I started using the brain cells I was given as they are depleting by the second :\:

Cobone.com have an offer on at the moment. The deal is you get a lifetime membership with Shop and Ship for USD 17.50. Do you think I can take my receipt from when I joined almost a year ago and get a rebate because I wasn't told there would be a sale now? ;) ROFL! :);):)

I am sure I read that 2 of the main rides were not working? The waterflume and the G Force ride. When we went approx 3 weeks ago we queued for the flume twice and twice got turned away because of maintenance issues and the G Force was closed for approx 10 mins as there was in issue too. The fastest rollercoaster had a two hour wait and the other one which was supposed to be a dual rollercoaster only had one track operating. We visisted with Go Nabit vouchers too but and we were not happy if we had paid full price I would have been livid. Gosh, sorry. I don't want to put anyone off buying your tickets, if you have little ones the rides for them looked like fun so it is much better than paying full price. But just to make sure people are aware of what awaits them ;-)

Yes it seems we can get our cat looked after in her home enviroment plus have someone water the plants so it seems the best idea. Can you guys reccommend any pet sitting companies?

Okay so all the tv channels are freezing even after I have unplugged the box and it has restarted itself. This must be the problem when recordings start hence no recording to watch. Looks like I will be ringing DU tmr. Any one else having the same problems?:(

I knew I couldn't be the only one throwing the remote at the TV! The trouble is we don't even get a recording to ff or rw just nothing at all. I have googled this and did find on the JBR Communtiy website a discussion re a similar problem but in 2008. Here is the cut & paste solution for some peeps. Not sure it is relevant here but you never know, I am not very tech minded so alot of the info below goes way over my head :-) Quote - DU eventually came round. they unplugged the wireless...turned of the power from the fuse board for the du box.(r3 breaker i think) 5 mins put the power bk on and it worked. If not I strongly recommend an email to customer services with your acc number and contact number under it. be firm in your wording and when the engineer calls save his number and phone him every 30 mins without fail normally gets results.- Quote. and alsoHi Guys, That solution is only a gimmig if you have a permanent issue. The problem is that the main entry box is distributing IP's: - TV channels: need per program one IP (if they take the first and last IP it is around 100) - WIFI : will take the connecting IP and it will start changing for security reasons, until it has a conflict with one of the TV channels IP. - Also according to how many computers you have plugged in first, TV will freeze as you are no allowed to more that 2 incoming IP's. To solve really the problem, the guys behind a computer in the DU technical center have to refrech the IP'S. The ideal solution if you do have several computers is to instal 2 WIFI's: One in Maid room and one in Dinning or false ceiling. But be careful as this means more signals waves araound you. If TV image freezes from time to time, just remove the power ( black color) for 1 minute and it satrts again. I also advise to put the porgrams you like as first and you will avoid navigating around all channels and IP's. Quote. Quote -

I have to agree. I tried Gladys's last week and I was very happy with the result. I went for a Mani & Pedi. Tools sterilised, polish has stayed put and it took approx 1 hour. I am so happy to have an alternative to Tips & Toes. As Beauty Lab and Caricature are way below par. The only problem I may have in the future is getting an appointment as they only had two chairs for mani & pedis!!!!! So try to keep it quiet ;) edited by Queen Bee on 26/04/2011

Hi Hun Yes I went for a pedicure last Thursday. I used them as a last minute need for a trim as our lovely friend pointed out that my toenails were obscenely long ;-) Good points - Avaiability at short notice, 60 aed so not expensive, quite a good choice of colours but not extensive, clean salon, nice staff. Bad Points - It took one hour and 30 mins for a pedicure ONLY, tools WERE NOT sterilised after use as one staff member took the tools off my girls tray(just on tray not in any solution) and just started using them on another client, the hard sell from the hairdresser as I was sat trying to relax. Would I go again? Probably not, I shall stick to Tips & Toes in future. x

Hi Egg I have had curtains and chiffon (spl) curtains made for my terrace apt on Motorcity. I had curtain, chiffon & pole on both windows plus chiffon for the entrance way to the living area and it cost me in the region of 6000aed. Prices will vary depending on the quality of material used. I used Joseph from Aleena Curtains mobile 0502829870. Ihave always used Joseph since moving to Dubai 3 years ago and I have never been disappointed with his work. Give him a call and take a look at his samples.
