Hi ladies, I am looking at purchasing the Insanity DVD set from Amazon. Due to the cost I thought I would check first if anyone has the DVD's gathering dust in a cupboard and would be willing to sell them to me? TIA

I have been looking at buying TurboFire, has anyone done this workout before? I am also interested in the PiYo but am I right in saying you can only get this through a PiYo instructor and not online? I am pretty new to Chalene Johnson but I find her pretty inspiring ( in an over the top American way ) ? edited by Queen Bee on 20/07/2014

Hi, We live in a compound villa in Al Sofouh 2/Internet City. 4 bed villas, maids room outside, 1 shared pool, communal gym and gardens. 24 hours maintenance and security. We have a decent enough garden area and patio. The villa compound is called 32 Villas Tecom behind the Gloria Hotel and DU building. We pay 205k in 4 chqs. The LL is the Sheikh of Um al Quwain . And so far so good. The only negative is the mosque which is close by and can be a little noisy and parking on a Friday is ridiculous, but, other than that the neighbours which I have met all seem nice and kinda keep themselves to themselves. There are plenty of children in the compound so great for the kids to meet new friends. It is a nice compound with garden areas that are looked after

Sorry to hijack on the back of posters request, but, my son is in a similar situation and he is also looking for a job. Ladybirdsarethebest, could you please email me details of the position you have available? My email is TIA

My friend moved to KL last year. She used Move One for shipping her furniture and her beloved cat. She was delighted with their service and she found it so easy as they dealt with everything for her. She was especially happy with the way that they helped her with all the documents etc for her cat as it is a very stressful time for all. You may have seen their billboards around town, I think on SZR? Their number is 04 438 5300. Happy travels!

There is a back way into Al Furjan. Not sure of the exit or road number, but from Al Khail heading towards AD you take the last exit before Green Community RA. On exiting the slip road stay right and it is the second entrance on the right. Go straight at the small makeshift RA and follow the road until after the red/orange villas (you will see lots of satellite dishes.)Turn right and you are in Al Furjan. I havea 4x4 and it is no problem for me. DH in his saloon car avoids it. Someone was asking about school buses. I did see one the other day but unsure of which school it was. Gas is supplied by Lootah BCGas. Connection fee AED750. Security deposit AED1000 Fixed charges AED 50 PER MONTH Default charges AED 50 per month. Consumption AED 19.49 per cbm. Maintenance for snags on villa has been quick and painless.Email Nakheel and they will give you a job number and complete in 3 days. Regarding the cooker. How can I explain? If you buy a standard size cooked and dishwasher then you will need Nakheel to move side of cupboard under the sink in a couple of inches. This design problem they are aware of and will resolve for you.

Hi ladies, Sorry been out of action due to the move. Yes we are now in our villa and here are my honest thoughts and the hiccups we have encountered. (In no particular order). Traffic - I did the commute today from Al Furjan to Business Bay -took the back way out and joined SZR - 30/35 mins. Commute back home - straight down Al Khail 20/25 mins. It took my husband 15 mins to get through the gardens to SZR. DU connected DEWA connected (minimal fuss) Still waiting for a refuse bin. Plus the Municipality do not collect bulky refuse as this area is a free zone area. This is down to Nakheel/Arabtec. Gas for BBQ - no one delivers ( easily resolved but a pain) Still waiting for gas connection to house, apparently they will be here tmr to connect. Snags in house - standard size cooker plus standard size dishwasher do not fit in the kitchen (take a look next time you go) you cannot open the dishwasher door at all to use. This will be fixed by Arabtec, exactly how, we will wait and see. Living room light is connected to outside light. So you cannot have one without the other. Looking to get in an electrician to correct if possible. Snags - fixings not great, look closely under sinks etc. leaking pipes, blocked pipe for washing machine. Safety - no problems so far. Security travel round on a scooter. No noise from workers (apart from a very squeaky wheel barrow) ;-) People are friendly (the few that are here). Hope this helps for now. Rushing so slightly disjointed answers!

Can anyone add to this post? Is there public transport there? we have a live out maid. Also is there any nurseries there within walking distance? Thanks Public transport is available on the main road near The Gardens. Possibly not in walking distancefrom Al Furjan though. There are nurseries in the area (The Gardens again) and possibly not in walking distance (depends how far you want to walk)

The traffic could be a problem. I work in Business Bay so right at the other end of SZR DH drives from Discovery Gardens to just on the border of the Downtown area every morning. Once you're on to SZR it only takes about 15 minutes, but getting onto SZR can be the problem. As long as you leave early, say no later than 6.45am, it should probably take less than 10 minutes to get across all the lights and onto SZR, but after about 7am it can take forever. That's the major problem in the Gardens/DG area, TERRIBLE road access at peak times. The road system is completely inadequate, even though DG is still a long way from being full. Al Furjan will only add to the problems. On the other hand, it might finally spur some additional road access being built, but of course after it's been approved that will take at least a year or two and will probably make things worse before they get better. :-( I start work at 8.30am, so would be looking to set off at 7.30 ish...........I may have to rethink!

We are paying 137aed 2 cheques. Some agents/landlords are trying for the 145aed 1 cheque! Not realistic at the moment, not with the lack of facilities etc.[ Interesting... is that for a 3 bed villa? Yes, type A 3 bed plus family area upstairs.

The traffic could be a problem. I work in Business Bay so right at the other end of SZR. DH works in JAFZA so good commute for him. I will be fine once I am on SZR but yes, it could be a problem actually getting onto there. I will have to play it by ear and see what time is best to hit the road. We don't have school age children so no issues with transport there. We are paying 137aed 2 cheques. Some agents/landlords are trying for the 145aed 1 cheque! Not realistic at the moment, not with the lack of facilities etc.

We are moving to Al Furjan in a week or so. Rented a lovely type A backing onto a park. Whilst it is quiet at the moment there seems to be alot of interest. Also there are no facilities but for a fee 0f AED3500 (FAMILY 2 plus 2 under 18's) you can use the pool and gym at the apartments (I forget the name of them now but they are the entrance before the villas). There is also a small store there as well. Plenty of cafes, supermarkets etc at The Gardens. And, of course, Ibn Battuta is a short drive away.

My son is on an extended visit to Dubai. Uk passport holder. We have renewed his visa once via Oman. We have attempted today to renew for a 2nd time at Jebal Ali Immigration but they have advised that he needs to enter & exit Oman again? Has anyone had any experience of renewal of a visa for 2nd time? Do we really need to make a trip again to the Oman border? Is the Dnata place still on SZR? I have googled visa renewal, DNATA with no success. TIA

I have recently been diagnosed as being deficient in Vitamin D and the doctor advised me to take a dosage of 10,000 iu. She did want me to take a higher dosage to start off with as my levels were very low but the chemists only sell the tablets with a maximum iu of 10,000. If you need higher then she told me that the chemist at City Hospital despense a higher dosage this most probably will ony be with a doctors prescription. See your doctor and see what they reccommend.

There were plans for two hotels on the Motorcity complex a Courtyard Marriot at the top of the boulevard and a Renaissance which was suppost to be attached to a mall at the bottom. All of the plans are on the backburner since the crash. The one that was suppost to be a Marriot is up for sale but rumour has it that UP are asking way too much money for it, so it is just sat there rusting away.

I live in an apatrment @ The Green Community Motorcity so I can't advise you on build quality of the villas/bungalows. Emicool cost for August was just over 1000 aed plus DEWA of aed350. We were away for 2 weeks of August but still had the A/C on but at a slightly higher temp. Our apartment is a 3 bed plus maids at over 3000 sq ft (indoors). Hope this helps a little. Maybe take a drive around and see if any villas/houses are empty and take a look inside to see for yourself. :-)

I would be interested in knowing if you can just board the bus too. My in laws are flying with Etihad in October but they only booked through to AD and not Dubai. Does anyone know if they can still use the bus? Or would they have to pay extra, which I will do, as driving to AD is a complete and utter pain in the backside.

Try takemyjunkuae.com . I think these guys will take most things, have a look at their site. I donated some things last week from an old outdoor dining table to a no longer used cricket set. Arrange a day & time with them and they come and collect. No hassle at all. Whatever they cannot sell to low income families they will donate or recycle. :-)

Can I ask if anyone has successfully ordered from Debenhams via shop and ship with a UAE credit card? I have tried to order twice from them, once I incorrectly put my billing address as the delivery so that got cancelled. Then I re ordered with my PO BOX address as my billing address (same as cc) and delivery address UK shop & ship address but my order failed their security verifications with no other explanation. I am pulling my hair out as they will not advise me if I can order via shop & ship with them using my Dubai cc. And I really, really need my Jasper Conran £14 sandals :-) so please help!!

We have had and are still having, although mildly, problems with our wireless. We initially tried the reboot way, DH has now reset the wireless and re programmed our computers. During our problems with this we were also experiencing problems with our scheduled recordings off OSN via our Du box. On calling DU customer care I was told that DU DONOT (lol) support wireless!!! They assign 2 I.P addresses to each home ( so we have been told) so if you have two boxes plus a wireless router the IP address you have assigned is constantly wondering to which appliance it should support (not very technical sorry) hence sometimes no sheduled recordings recorded or no access to internet. For now (touch wood) we are okay-ish. But for the past week or so I have had problems connecting to some sites and even EW. I have to use one of the "unmentionables" to enable me to connect to EW.

It is hard and I sympathise. You have a history with your girlfriends from back home that has probably taken years of laughs, tears & adventures to make. Give it time, keep getting back on the horse and you WILL find like-minded people. It took me a couple of years to find my girlie's with whom I can have a laugh with, say anything to, be a crabby mare with or just chill with but they were worth the wait. I actually met them when decided to do something for me rather than trying to fit into groups & activities that I would never have done back home in a million years, just to try to get out there & meet people. And lo & behold I met my partners in crime. Yes initial conversations can be stilted and if you are the one making all the effort then it is more like a chore than a pleasure. Take up group exercise classes but ones were you need to partner or get involved as a group. Good luck x
