Hi. The citizenship and passport applications are submitted at the same time here. They then issue you with the passport for the child which is valid for one year - the length of time it takes for the citizenship card to be processed. Once they call you to collect the card, the passport will then be extended for another two years. So you will get the passport, even though the citizenship takes a while. Was that your main worry?

All the very best for tomorrow, twinsmum. My C-section was also a last minute decision and I really wanted a natural birth, but ultimately it is the destination and not the journey that counts, as a friend said to me :) Hope all goes well and look forward to hearing the news of your little girl's arrival. Pingu, ahh that is good news that they call you when the heel prick results are in. I didn't want to use a Pead at City and was just going to go one time for the results and initial checks for baby. I plan on using the peadiatrician at Motor City (Dr. Omaima Ataya). I take my DS to her and she is great, plus I get direct billing there with my insurance! Oh and yes, we have the birth notification already. The hospital called us three days after I was discharged to come and collect it.

Hi Pingu Huge congratulations to you and welcome to your little man! I was totally about to post the same sort of question. I delivered at City too and the pediatrician who came to check the baby said something about coming back in two weeks for a check and to get the results of the heel prick test, which took about that long to come back from the US lab. I honestly can't remember though, if it was 2 weeks, 3 weeks or what! I will call them today and find out. I don't want to go if the test results aren't there yet. In the meantime, I have taken my little miss to the free Well Baby Clinic at the Medicentre at Motor City. They have them on Sunday and Wednesday mornings from 10 -12 and the midwife is lovely. I am going again this Wednesday as my one will be just over 2 weeks. She hadn't gained any weight last week, so am hoping she has put some one this time around!

Hi everyone! Sorry for my lack of news. Just got back from the hospital on Thursday afternoon and just been settling in at home. I had ny beautiful baby girl on Monday at 15:18. She is just the sweetest little thing (well not so little at 3.88kg!). Love her to bits! Congratulations Ayda! Who else have I missed popping? Oh and TanyaR, love the idea of meeting the little March babies one day soon.

Can't help with curtains. We just went the IKEA route so not too pricey. And we only have curtains in the bedrooms, as we don't back onto anyone else. As for DEWA, during the summer our bills were about 2500 per month for aircon/water/electric, but we go away for the two hottest months and now in the winter the bills are around 800 per month. I have actually found the cost about the same as when we lived in JBR (mainly because EMPOWER a/c bills were sooo pricey there and we didn't even have a garden to water!).

Yay! Huge congratulations gingercat! So happy for you! Welcome to the world baby girl :) My situation has taken an unexpected turn. Went to my OB this week thinking things were kicking off and turns out my little miss has popped out of the pelvis and has turned back to back :( So, if I still want to try for a natural birth I can, but there a lots of risks with the baby in this position and at the moment I have a 50% chance of ending up with an emergency c-section. So have decided to go for a planned section. Am booked in for Monday. Not my ideal, but safe for baby for sure. Ayda, good luck! Sounds like things are VERY close for you. I will be checking this board for updates!

Hi Ayda Had my 39 week appointment this morning and had my first internal exam. Sooo uncomfortable and my OB couldn't find my cervix! We had a laugh about it. Apparently it is either tightly closed still or is very posterior (behind baby somewhere). The good news is that baby has finally moved down a bit into my pelvis - only a bit but enough to mean she is on the move at least! edited by redleaf on 29/02/2012

Thanks for the update gingercat. Either way, definitely not long to go now. I have my 39 week appointment tomorrow. I still don't think this baby has engaged at all yet! Buit I am not pusing for it, as my Mom doesn't arrive for another week! Hope she makes it on time! TanyaR - I am knackered all the time now too and my bladder must be the size of a dirham because I am peeing all the time! Ayda, your husband's reaction cracked me up! Also reminds me - must put together crib still!

Fox Movies is broadcasting the ceremony live in the middle east starting at 5:30AM UAE time. There is usually an evening rebroadcast too later on too. E! only shows the red carpet but not the actual awads show.

Hi Laura Thanks for posting the link to your blog. I have been totally absorbed by it and am now caught up to present day. Sending nothing but positive energy your way. My Dad was diagnosed with colon cancer way back in the late 80s, when I was too young to appreciate his daily struggles with the treatments. All the best to you and your family and roll on June!

Hi Alilaslett I haven't personally delivered at Medcare, but a good friend had both of her babies there and was very happy. They weren't by C-Section though. Sorry not very helpful! You may want to post a seperate thread - you'll probably get more replies that way. Congrats on your pregnancy!

Hi Ladies gingercat, I am also 37 weeks - due on the 8th! I am also hoping this baby stays put until then. I have my son's 4th birthday party next weekend, plus my Mom doesn't arrive until March 6th. So I am crossing my legs! Also on weekly appointments now. The baby is sitting so high and hasn't engaged at all yet, so I am supposed to be doing 30 minute brisk walks every day to try and encourage the baby down into my pelvis. I haven't managed anything brisk in a while, so must get to it! Anyone else's baby engaged yet? I know 2nd time round it can happen when labour begins and not way in advance like the first. So nice to hear everyone's updates :)

Hi NikitaD I am so sorry about your miscarriages. I had 3 miscarriages in a row over a 3 year period plus loads of tests before finally holding onto my fourth pregnancy and being blessed with my son. Also miscarried a fourth time after having my son, but now pregnant with my second child. There is hope. I see Dr Rosalie Sant at Primavera Medical Clinic based in Healthcare City. She specialises in assisting women who have recurrent miscarriages (classified as 3 in a row). Perhaps you may like to contact her. If you look up their website her experience is listed there. All the best to you

Hi cakes I am 36 weeks and have gained 14kg so far. Didn't really gain anything the first trimester because I felt so ill and wasn't eating that much. Also seemed to keep a steady weight through second trimester, but now seem to be piling it on. I am seeing my OB every week now and seem to be gaining a kilo by each visit - yikes!! Gained a lot more in my first pregnancy - which is weird because I actually had time to swim everyday and get some excercise. 2nd time around I haven't had time to relax as much because of chasing around a 4 year old!

Hi TanyaR and everyone! I know - I can't believe how fast time is flying! I am now 36 weeks and hoping this little lady stays put as long as possible. My Mom doesn't arrive until two days before my EDD and I need her here to help with my 4 year old DS! I am feeling fine - just tired. Oh and I have thrush - lucky me! And had my OB appointment today and she takes great joy in telling me how big and round the babies head is - again lucky me! Otherwise can't complain. I am however at that stage where I start worrying again that the baby is healthy. I can't help it. How are all you other March Mummies doing?

Hi DubaiCat My DS was exactly the same - absolutely hated being in his car seat. Looking back I realise it was probably because he wanted to be held by me all the time, especially in the first 4 months. It took that long for him to nap on his own, rather than on me, for example. Perhaps your little one is the same and doesn't like the seperation from you.

My son sucks his two fingers still at almost 4. I was thrilled when he started self-soothing this way at about 4 months. It is a comfort to him still, although he only does it when he is tired and going to sleep - not all the time. There is no harm in it. I wouldn't worry about it.

Hi Green-ish I am so so sorry for your loss. At over 8 weeks you do feel so attached as the bubs has been with you for quite a while by then. I sadly have been through 4 horrible miscarriages and I really feel for you. As for feeling stupid for telling people early, well you definitely should not. I have been pregnant 6 times now and have realised that telling or not telling people early makes no difference to the outcome of the pregnancy (unfortunately). Instead, telling people early gave me so much more support when I really needed it. Take care of yourself.

That is great news, cakes. Definitely worth getting that second opinion. I had a scan before I got pregnant this time and was told I had a very short cervix so may need a stitch in pregnancy and a fibroid on my cervix. Well this mystery fibroid has never been seen again, and my cervix is a very normal length after all! Enjoy the rest of your pregnancy! When are you due?

Hi xmasbaby I did this almost 4 years ago now for my DS and will be doing it again for our new arrival this year. All I recall is that I had to apply for the baby's passport and citizenship card at the same time. They then issue the passport for one year, as it takes a year to get the citizenship card, and once that is recieved they extend the passport for another 2 years. The consulate (although dreadfully unhelpful in person!) are good at replying to email. They sent me all the up to date info and links to forms that way. Good luck!

Hi cakes All of my obstetrics care has been through Primavera Medical Centre, including all scans. The sonographer there is Dr. Julia Ditkovska and she is great. You can read her resume on their website. I have been very reassured by her at every scan and from my experience would recommend her highly. Hope everything is ok.

Hi ladies Fiona82, I am also with Dr. Sant! I have decided to go with City this time around. A few friends have delivered there recently and were very happy - particularly as one or two had to use the NICU and they couldn't say more postive things about the staff there. I was also in City for my ectopic and had very good care. My son was born at American 4 years ago (I was with Dr Josza there) and was also very happy there too, but I have heard that the nursing care has gone a bit downhill since then. But I guess these are all individual opinions. Everyone has different experiences. My friend had both her babies delivered by Dr Raj at American and loves her!

Have you thought of FS1 through a nursery? My son is doing FS1 at Palms Nursery and he (and I) love it. So nurturing, small class size and the fees are reasonable too! Saying that, he will be going into KG1 an American school from September, so won't be battling to get an FS2 spot, which I know can be tricky if they haven't done FS1 at the school already.

Just can't get comfy enough to sleep properly, but otherwise doing fine. I have my doppler scan on Thursday so looking forward to seeing my little lady again. just_anu, sorry I can't help with hospital's in Fujairah. You may want to ask on the main board, as it is has more traffic there. AussiePup, sorry you are feeling so rotten on your holiday :( Oh and bought a baby names book today and am working my way through it with a highlighter. Hi Touti Is your Mom flying over on Emirates? If so it is very easy to get the visas through them. My Mom did it last year and it took 2 weeks to get it, once she had booked her flight. She will be doing the same this March for the birth of our baby girl :) It definitely takes longer if the visa is done directly with the UAE Embassy in Ottawa, if you are travelling over on a different airline. Lets just say, they make it a lot easier if you choose Emirates :)
