yes he can but we decided against that for a few reasons: We would get less accommodation allowance and we need it as its so expensive to live here! If he lost his job for any reason we would all have to leave We might have got less school funding also, can't quite remember

Hi, I am currently in Doha on a tourist visa living with my husband who has an RP. I am due to start work in December and my hiring company are asking me to leave the country whilst the work Visa is processed which could take up to one month?? Has anyone else experienced this? I have three children here and we don't have a house in the UK any more so could be tricky!!

Hi Ninac we took a chance and came out here and then drove round the schools that had places after having spoken on the phone. Luckily my seven year old got a place at our second attempt. He took a test at the first and failed ? It seems that is the norm to assess them and then offer the place which seems harsh when they are so young!

Hi Nina we are in almost the same boat and moving from Berkshire. Husband already there and going through the process mentioned by Tulip. We were told we "may" get a school with a pending residents permit!

Thanks again everyone, but does that mean he has to wait six months until he can go to shool?? (And that's if we find a place) What do you all do with your children whilst waiting for the permit if you are at work? How do they get taught?

Thanks very much all! My husband has decided on the Pearl now so I'm hoping we will like it and the traffic not too bad!
