Morning ladies, I am at my wits end trying to find a bungalow or villa for rent, I am despairing of finding somewhere to live, the rental market has gone beserk and agents are basically laughing at me now - creeps. If anyone knows of anything I would so very grateful. My allegedly pathetic budget is 160 absolute max, I cannot believe that £25,000 GBP gets you nothing 'according to the low life agents. Getting to a stage that we will have to leave Dubai and leave DH here, what the heck is going on with this place?? Thanks so much. I am in same boat and my budget is limited for 1 BHK in similar area. I really wonder whats going on n DXB even a decent 1 BHK is going upto 70-75k and thats crazy. I am a self employed as well and wanna save every penny I can specially when I go home only to sleep :(

How much do you tip your hairdresser? Is it rude not to tip? I was reading some people tipping around 100 aed but I can't afford that... Never tipped a hairdresser in my whole life - no one tips me for doing my job Haha....thats a good approach :D

Hi ladies, My renewal is due next month & and I am looking to move out as my current apartment is too big for one person. Rents everywhere are going high. Many people have told me they are living in other cities and travel daily to DXB. I wanted to check with some people who are actually doing it? doesnt it get tiring? although am not very much afraid of traffic because my timing would be entirely different than office goers ( morning 10-11 and evening 9-10 going back). Any suggestions? I checked on dubizzle and found these beautiful apartments in al hamra village at cost of peanuts. Anyone living there and working in dubai? is it good idea or I should stick to DXB areas only? traffic on the old emirates road is smoother from 9ish-10 and again after 9pm. you'll be ok. but like other posters say, everyday can take a toll on you. since you're single, why don't you look at JVC? @ SHJBELLE I am actually looking for 1 BHK and I am not really happy with the rents there. I would consider some place easily accessible, close to grocery, malls & dinning places etc. Heard in SHJ the sizes are great like even for studio normal sizes are 400-700 SQFT which is rare in DXB. For me spacious place is important. Secondly m already in a little financial crunch so just for change and looking at my requirements I thought so.....

I call my regular salon if some times I need such service in odd timings....and they make an early appointment for me. However , They are in satwa. Really? Which salon is that, if you don't mind me asking? They sound good :-) Hi White orchid This place is called "Beauty Plus Ladies Salon" in satwa with really amazing hair dressers. Owner is accommodating. I normally call them 1 day in advance if i need early booking. For my bra length hair they charge me 60 AED that includes hair wash as well. You can try their all services except nails.

It depends on activity You are looking for and also requirements. To be on mainland You can get license from DED your self. Or if its a freezone You can get from their authorized companies. I have a professional license and I am very happy about it. I am 100 % owner of my company and there is one local agent to whom I pay a lump sum amount every year and that's about it. I have all the authority and It costs me a lot cheaper than free zone.

For cancellation it takes about one day to cancel a visa. Before visa cancellation they will need to do labor card cancellation and after that visa will be canceled. If they are saying it's gonna take a month may be they are considering internal procedure and "Notice Period" thing. Cancellation isnt a big issue...it takes one day and hardly 250 AED expense to cancel on employee.

Thank You everyone. I have been through a lot in my life probably that had made me kind of "Iron" and I feel nothing. No pain, no regrets, no rage nothing. I am thankful to God that I am earning good enough to have a decent survival.Though I do not have a very supportive family. Been a long time they have gave up on me and we hardly speak. So I have actually no place or people who can be my back up in bad times. And I wonder if there are some ladies around who are like me with no friends, no family, no kids and just a career as a passion and thats about it? I still feel whatever happened was good and I feel relieved. At least its better to live at own than living with someone so selfish and cheat.

Thankfully the thread has been removed but for your information, the story you posted about is actually a conceptual art piece by Chinese sculptor Zhu Yu - the story isn't true. It took me half an hour and to understand what you wrote. First I thought, probably You were talking about my thread regarding personal life. :-( I found that hoax on FB. Got upset and shared it here. Really didnt know anything about it. Thanks for updating me. I really appreciate it. edited by rose717 on 08/09/2013

A little update... Yes he left the same day. I asked him to leave the apartment because everything is under my ownership. He was not even ashamed.Since that day I am not feeling anything at all. when I come back home I am more relaxed than ever. I wonder why I am not even feeling sad. That scene has probably wiped away all the leftover feelings. May be its because everything is going as it was going before excluding noise, trash and arguments with him. I dont know that lady, neither I intend to know. My account, locker & car everything is under my name. So I am not worried at all. Just curious how would he survive without handful income to rent a decent room let alone the full apartment. I should have taken this step before. I dont know why I never thought change in his behavior may be because of some lady. I considered that to be last thought. I am just taking little time to decide how I should file divorce. I hope it would not be that hectic as we got married here. edited by rose717 on 08/09/2013

I deleted a long response. The just of which is that every one of us know our life in Dubai, our visit in the UAE , could be cut out of our passport tomorrow. Live the life you can pay for, not one on loan, unles you have a really good fall back. Life up here is fantastic. I don't worry if I could be jailed if the rug went under me tomorrow. I don't worry because I live out of my pocket, not out if the banks pocket. This is no Disneyland. And we were told that whn we checked in. Totally agree with you. I have been here since a few years but always had few rules. No credit cards, No bank loans. From a cage like studio in a cheap locality of sharjah to a 2 bhk took me around 5 years. But at least I never had fear of liabilities. I just cant take that stress. I am happy being in my skin and stretch it as much as I can afford. and grow slowly. Everyone I know in my circle, most of them I used to see and envy them but every other day I hear stories of their bankruptcy and I wonder what makes them forget the reality of using money and thinking they wouldn't pay back ever. To each his own for me taking loans ( other than house mortgage or really really emergency) is just our confession of being failure in coping up your own living/existence.

just be careful. I tried getting a keratine treatment done and it fully damaged my hair. I would recommend you pay full price instead of buying any vouchers from any of the sites. My personal favorite is Juice Salon and Spa in mankhool my colleague recommended. Must say never sorry for going there. Slightly steep but worth it. I have also heard Amro is a good salon never been there though. I hope you are not bald yet :D There are alot of deals going online and hard to not to fall for it. Just incase ... Where did you get it done? which salon i mean ... edited by rose717 on 02/09/2013

cckl, does lemon juice really work? I've heard about this before and always wanted to try it but was a bit sceptical... Best home remedy to reduce dark spots is potato juice or cut potato into slices and rub it over dark area. Keep for 15-20 mins and wash it. Do it regularly for few days and you will see the difference. This is best fr dark circles, dark under arms and also dark spots on face.

Hi ladies! I have naturally wavy/ curly hair. Would the keratin treatment completely straighten it? Not sure I want to go from waves to pin straight flat hair. Keratin Does not straighten hair it just makes hair better and reduces frizz. Only japanese straightening makes hair pin straight. Sophie27 replied : Ladies I can recommend Maria Dowling hair salon, 04 345 4225 I too have had the Keratin treatment for the past 3 summers and it makes such a difference. I would also suggest using the recommended shampoo and conditioner for Keratin treated hair as this will help to prolong the treatment I had disaster there. Wouldn't recommend them.

I think the pair of you really need to re - evaluate the way you live, what you want from life etc because it sounds as if it is not really working currently. You have expectations that are not being met - as possibly does he! Maybe you need to look at the hours you work, the amount of time you spend at home? Maybe he does need to get moving? A few of your comments e.g. not eating at home suggest to me that it COULD appear to him that your life is elsewhere ...do you get what I am saying? It sounds like you cohabit but that's it...fix it soon or lose it. Thrash it out- fix short term goals e.g. we will do this and that - whether that is work things, money things or fun things - and then come back to them again and see what has worked, fix new ones etc...it sounds as if he feels he really isn't part of what is important to you and is reacting accordingly. edited by spongemonkey on 29/08/2013 I know my routine is very busy and I spend very less time at home but still whatever time I spend its not very pleasant either. At the end of day its not my choice. I was without work for only 4 months and he drove me nuts and telling me that I should work and he cant take burden of all the expenses ( he was making more or less same income) and than when I got work we were already under debt. This is what he asked me to work more and pay off the debt as he has limited earning. Before I started working we decided who will do what but he is not sticking to his words. He allocated duties but he never fulfilled and always forget. He is a good person but he is extremely lazy. And I hate this about him. Why I dont eat at home is an other story. I have tendency to gain weight very fast. No matter after how much time I am eating he would always comment on my food or quantity ( i.e why are you eating rice, or french fries, or I have eaten enough and I should stop) or how fat I am looking and I should take care..Thats very annoying am sure for every body specially when you are at dinner table. I have given up on my expectations yet there are few things I cant sort out. How to encourage him to work more or better when he is not willing to. Its about sense of responsibilities. He is type of a person who would probably sleep on foot path instead of working hard as far as he has something to eat.

I'm not sure how you fix this, however I am in a similar situation to you in that I work full time, am the main breadwinner and my husband works from home. We get a cleaner in 2 days a week, but my husband does the day to day tidying eg bedmaking, cooks our meals (properly from scratch) and takes our daughter to after school stuff. He seems to get a mental block on anything laundary related but other than that it works fine. I wouldn't put up with what you're putting up with and I won't entertain any stuff about a man feeling emasculated. Diddums. This is the 21st Century. I'd be reading the riot act. I had tried that cleaning service but they would come only twice in a week and next day of cleaning my home is back to same messy and untidy. Beside that I dont ask him to cook for me or do any stuff like laundery or so. All he does is he cooks him self and do things for him self. Even if I tell him to pay some bills or deposit cheque in account or some other work he wont do until I remind 4-5 times and most of the times at the end he gets irritated and I end up doing it my self on last dates. No matter what but I couldn't change his habit of last minute accomplishments. And I find it easier to do those tasks my self than relying on him and than fighting over it.

Thank You Ladies for your help. However I wanna add few things to clear the situation. He has good friends here and he is very cheerful and happy around them and I encourage him to go out and have fun with friend. I also suggested him to join some gym or swimming so that he has some physical activity and it will improve his confidence. The problem is I am all day dealing with so many people (I m in public relations) by the time I reach home my energy is already drained. Even than I keep my self compose and when initiate a chat hes mostly not replying or in a bad mood as if its all my fault. At the same time if his friends come or call he would be totally different person. He has always been careless regarding my food, sleep, rest thing but these days he literally doesnt give a sh*t . We were under some debt and I have almost paid it off. And to be honest I am being a little more concerned to have little saving for emergency time because we dont have really that type of circle who would help us in bad times and hes quiet not happy with that. We had arguement about it as he wanted to go for a vacation abroad which is not possible at the moment except we take financial burden ( credit card etc) and I am simply not into this idea. Because I would be the one responsible to pay for it. Beside that we had gone to some holiday few months back on all my expense. For weekend holidays I dont mind but something more than that would be too much for me. I have tried speaking to him about his work and to be honest his work isnt that bad if he just stop being lazy. Good or bad part is he doesn't have liabilities as office rent or bills etc so hes normally not putting as much effort as needed and also he isnt thinking of expanding it. I have no clue what he is thinking but every time i try talking to him he is in mood of fight and very rude. so I back off. He is a very loving and romantic person since I met him but that doesnt pay the bills. When it comes to practical things even in good times he wont move to kitchen to get me something to eat. I know men are very selfish when it comes to their rest and food but after all the daily efforts and physical tiredness when I get back home and I have to face such situation that my hubby isnt even willing to talk or talk with manners I can only shut my mouth and go to sleep. At the end of day I am the one who has to deal with the bills and rents and even I am working on holidays to make few extra bucks and I really have no hear to go on vacation or spend insanely for pleasure of few hours or days and spend my next 6 months to pay off the bills.

I don't like to bad mouth up and coming salons such as Beauty Plus but the treatment I had was so bad I feel I need to get it off my chest. I thought the offers at this pinkladydeals was true good to be true but if people are lovely and willing to please, I thought I will give it a go. The lady I made the appointment with on the telephone was lovely and said to call when I am at the satwa bus station to get directions. Well when I arrived there, I called two numbers I had for the salon and both were switched off! I eventually found the place and the door was locked. But someone opened the door and they were surprised to see me. They had no knowledge of my appointment and certainly no knowledge of the offer I bought (the Moroccan bath offer). Yes I should have known better than to go for this as there were so many services for so little money. After arguing amongst themselves in their language one of them said "give me the money and we will do your service". I am OK with not having nice surroundings but the people should be nice and kind. The Moroccan bath was just leaving me in the room where there is only enough place to sit with the steamer on. She then came and scrubbed me down- I did not feel pampered- Just felt as though I was being cleaned! The hot oil, shoulder massage and blow dry were just tick boxes- just to say they have done the service. They forgot about the facial until I mentioned it and they asked "you want it". I did enjoy the facial though. I felt sorry for the two ladies as it was a lot of services for only 85AED. I left a small tip even though I was unhappy as even one of the services may have cost me that much in another salon. However the person making up these offers should advise the people at the salon that if they give a great service, the customer will come back even when the offer is not there. Needless to say I do accept it is my fault as I should have realised that having all these services for so little money would be just what it sounds like - cheap and nasty. Maybe they are good for hair services. However, this salon made me feel so bad and not pampered or rejuvenated, and I would not recommend anyone to go there for anything other than getting your hair done. Sorry to hear about your experience. I have been a regular customer since I came to UAE (almost 5 months and on tight budget) and have tried almost all of their services. Prices are extremely low and quality is not bad. I did have full body waxing with bikini in 150 AED, girls are so speedy and good that I finish whole session in one hour. Facials are reasonable as well. Morrocan bath isn't bad either. Drawback is Staff girls barely understand English. Although the manager is a wonderful lady who makes sure everyone is happy when they leave. May be its just bad luck or bad day :D edited by rose717 on 20/08/2013

We actually found it without a problem yesterday, which was a pleasant surprise! The ladies were absolutely lovely. However, we decided against the treatment -- she quoted me 1,000 AED instead of the original 200 AED, so we'll just stick with the Afro salons and the relaxers. Thanks for the information, though! Wow. 1000 AED?? are You serious? thats a lot of money. edited by rose717 on 13/08/2013

LuLee... I'm sure they do all sorts of treatments there but it really requires you to decide the final look you want to achieve... permanent chemical straightening leaves the hair rod straight and the straightened hair will not frizz or curl again... your roots however will be your natural hair and hence once the regrowth starts you will need to go in for a root touch up... if your hair is very frizzy you might need to go as soon as your regrowth is a couple of inches as then it will start to look funny as frizzy at the root and then rod straight down... the keratin treatment is a conditioning treatment and not straightening... so it will just soften your hair and give it some conditioning as opposed to straightening it out... for people with frizzy and wavy hair this often appears more straight as when the frizz is removed the hair tends to feel more tamed... but if you have curly hair the keratin effect will not result in even appearing remotely straight... regular oiling and conditioning of hair will help keep the hair strong... as overly chemically treating your hair can result in damages all the best in your decision... and go to a couple of hairdressers for a consult before you decide... and also keep in mind the time factor... chemical straightening (rebonding) takes about 4hrs just for shoulder length hair... so take a good book and a lot of patience along with you! lolz.... I like that suggestion :P

Quite a few friends of mine have been to Sri Lanka and loved it. They said there is loads to do and explore. I think it's quite cheap as well. Had been to Sri LAnka....it was amazing trip. We explored the whole Lanka on bikes :D so nothing to explore any more. Its such a beautiful place. stunning mountains and jungles and beaches.
