Any ideas where there's a reasonable salon to get my hair and nails done. Somewhere with a monthly package for blow dries, mani/pedi would be great. Thanks!

Has anyone managed to do this? Finding the process very confusing. Are there any companies who can help? My certs are all attested in the UK but need to go through the above ministry. Any advice much appreciated.

I'll second Baros. Truly wonderful and perfect for just a few days. Not too far from the airport by boat and the restaurants (although few) are amazing. Jealous!

Thanks for the advice girls. Have contacted the rental agent and hope she'll have it. Wouldn't the documentation needed here drive you mad??!!

I recently bought a John Lewis cover in Waitrose for my Brabantia. Haven't put it on yet but the measurements are the same. Maybe you could try there? HTH

Hi Kermi, I know the West End well and it's a lovely place to live - lucky you to be going to Glasgow! Dowanhill, Hyndland and Kirklee are handy yet far enough from the uni not to be too 'studenty'. Keeping within the G12 post code is a good guide. Estate Agents to approach are Slater Hogg and Howison, Clyde and G&S (there are many and all should all give a good service). I use G&S to manage my property in the west end and they are excellent. You'll be able to travel on foot, by bus, underground and on the train from the west end and the city centre is only ten/fifteen minutes away. More suburban areas on that side of the city are Jordanhill, Bearsden and Anniesland. All are served well by public transport but will be a little further away from the uni so more travel time. Good luck and if you need anything else just ask.

I have a great maid who comes a few hours everyday and I would love to have her full time under my own sponsorship. Her current visa was only renewed in January by her employer. Can anyone tell me if it is possible to transfer her visa and also how I would go about it? Thanks.

Hi Cab, There was a previous thread on this a few weeks back and an agency called Barjeel Maids was mentioned. Sorry but I forgot to save the number but it might be worth a google. HTH

Thanks so much, Kaydee. He's worked abroad for most of his life and has always had friends through work but there very few expats on this particular job. I think he's going to be living in Juhu so that's good to know there are some places close by. I'll forward your info on and thanks again.

Hi Inza, as most people have said, the c section seems to affect people differently. I had lots of pain for about a week and found it hard to do anything. I also saw others who were back functioning much quicker than me and experienced less pain. I used my maternity pillow from mothercare to help me sleep as it supported my tummy if I was on my side and I used it to help me move. Keep taking the meds - that's what they're there for. Be good to yourself as a c section is a big deal. You will begin to feel a little more normal again but it took me two weeks at least to see the light. Hope you feel better soon.

Thanks, ladies. That will explain why my five month old son is able to lock it every time he gets hold of my phone!

Dr Syed Ahmed is at City and also at Kids First Al Wasl Road. Can't rate him highly enough - lovely manner and knows his stuff.
