I used to live in Muscat and neither cyclone was a 'damp squib'.... Cyclone Gonu in 2007 killed quite a few people and caused alot of damage especially to the house etc in the coast area... Cyclone Phet was not as bad last year but still significant. There is a threat for another to hit there on Friday, but the threat is declining day by day. yes! we have a huge problem in our villa too.... these are really tough ants this year! we have had them coming up through our floor in the lounge, just this morning finished having the entire floor re-grouted to try and ward them off!!!

This is from an earlier thread that I have copied and pasted! Yep, Coventry Tailors. Ishwar is your man - 050 455 2657. Located in main area of Satwa, directly opposite Emirates Post Office (same side of road as Regent Fabrics). It's up the side street that is directly opposite the post office.

Well! We live in a 3 bed villa, with big garden with mostly grass which has irrigation. Our Dewa bills can rise to 2500 aed per month in the summer months. Winter is generally around 1000aed (and I am quite careful with lights and a/c)

Yes, opposite our main gate is a huge piece of dessert... Most people walk their dogs on it and they can be let off the lead, no probs :-)

I live in Layan, its great :-) There is a sign on the exit on the railings for a 4 bed villa up for rent in Waha for 130k. There is also the same poster on the notice board in Spinneys in Motor City. Also I noticed that if you drive on the bypass, past our developement there is a sign actually on one of the villas 'for rent'. Worth a look :-)
