Oh dear, dear.... I am assuming you called all the vets? Put posters up where you live? In the local shops? Apart from that I am sure you are doing all you can... so sorry...

Last night we went down to the Marina for a bite to eat. I had a sleeveless dress on, so made sure I had a pasmina over my shoulders... then passed more bare shoulders than covered. What is going on?

Azaiba... you need to speak to Elke from Qurum Vets, she is the one that arranged for both our dogs to come from Muscat to Dubai. Her number is: 24562263. Hope that helps

No probs..;) Off to UK on Friday, but we should meet for a coffee after that if you are up for it? You could bring a notepad and fire away! :) Sounds good to me, but you may regret the notepad bit. Drop me an email when you get back and have a lovely time. Thanks... will do, its been quite a while... be in contact.

that seems so high then because our water contributes for half our Dewa.... we only use the A/C in the room we are in. Bedrooms all night. They are on 24 degrees (auto)

Not sure about that... I do know that if you pass through all 3 on one journey (say driving from MOE to airport end) you will only get charged for one toll (4 dirhams). They calculate that you pass all 3 within a certain time and only charge for one.

Is it definately the electricity making the bill high? Our summer bills are around 2k and we have a huge fully irrigated garden and large 3 bedroomed villa.

You will be fined 50 dirhams each time you pass with no tag. Then when you re-register your car, you will have a big fine to pay before they continue

This is for a E class large auto saloon which is expensive... also we will be arriving in the 'olympic' time so prices in all London airports have gone up. Also the car is waiting for you at arrivals which to me saves so much time, no getting buses out to a far fetched car parks :D

Far and away the best deal is Traffic Self drive...I got the recommendation off here and have used them for the last 2 years. They are waiting for you at LHR with the car in the short stay so no bus transfers, price includes fully comp insurance, extra driver and car seats. Then you just drive up to departures and they are waiting with a trolley for you and they drive the car away, it's a brilliant service. Price beats all the others by far. Thank you so much for this helpful recommendation! They have reallly come good considering we want to hire next week, what with the Olympics being on in London, they have booked us the car we wanted (largest saloon) for how long we wanted (delivery straight to the arrivals) 2 drivers and full comp insurance all for 550 pounds. Which is by far the cheapest plus all the others you have to use a shuttle bus etc, etc.... So just wanted to say thanks!

I would say that it is a feral cat/bin cat that has been castrated/spayed... they normally clip the ear so that people know that it has been done and can't reproduce. We have a number of cats like this in our community.

I think they are made by Staywell? We had them in the UK. Try ACE hardware in their pet dept or there is a good pet shop in Motorcity... You can either get them that work with special collars or electronic ones that work on the microchip already in the cat. Good luck.

Replace the cat flap with one that only opens with the special collars that you put on your cats... any other cat trying to enter can not.

When I need my UK contraceptive pills they did not know the name... so I went back to the chemist/pharmacy with the drug name (as you mentioned below) and they matched the same drug up (take the paper insert if you have it), they were just under a different brand name. The best pharmacy I find is: Jebel Ali Gardens Pharmacy near the gas station and near IBN battuta mall or the pharmacy in the centre at Arabian Ranches but most will help you. The contraceptive pills are on the shelf and I never heard of them being prescription only... not unless they are special ones?

We have been long awaiting a cheque from an amazingly shoddy real estate agent. We banked it yesterday and it is today showing on the NBD online banking, but DH hasn't received the magic SMS to show funds added. Is this a bad sign or just the normal clearing process as we've never noticed this before? Stress!!!!! I would call them and ask if its cleared before drawing on it

I feel for you.... I have found that vitamin B complex has helped alot! I would never in a million years of believed a vitamin would help... after around 4 weeks I noticed a difference, its a capsule taken once a day. I have been taking them for a year now. Regular massages help also. Breathing in a slow deep pattern helps if you get into a situation where you panic. :)

Never had it happen to me here (knock on wood) but here is what I have done in the past: - Call your insurance company as some coverages have free roadside assistance (and towing). Many times they can try to jump it in the garage. Sometimes there is enough battery for the radio but not the engine so I would have them try this first. (and the battery is the most likely as hot weather is very tough on batteries) - Get the car towed to a shop. If you haven't taken it anywhere, the easiest but most expensive will be the dealer service. I have also had good luck with AAA near MOE. You will need to set this up prior to calling the tow service so that you know where to have the tow truck take your car. Insurance will only pay for the repairs if there is an accident ... but lots of time they will help get your car to a shop. Good luck! How weird...I must of been typing away the same time and very like minded also! edited by roysie on 03/07/2012

What a pain.... my car insurance has breakdown cover and I am pretty sure that most do. Definately check that and call them out. It could be the battery.. the radio takes little power for that to work but just means not enough power in battery to turn the car over or it could be the starter motor... all manner of things, so 1st to check the cover on your insurance.
