I suggest Timberland slip-on moccasins... so, so comfy and easy to slip on without help. There are outlets in a lot of malls but the ones I use are IBN and ME.

I agree. Been in M.E. for a long time and each year just gets worse as I get older and fatter I agree... even the locals say that they just learn to live with it, so what hope have we got. Still would prefer 50 degrees dry heat to 35 degrees with humidity any day...

It sounds to me like it is the Green Community roundabout exit, although you can go into slip road for the Jebel Ali Turn off before the actual roundabout. Yes it is the the slip road just after the fuel station and before the Green C R/A. My son go's to school in Jebel Ali and this is def the quickest way... I have tried them all. After 3 years my car is now on self drive mode... lol. I make Layan to school in 20 mins now they scrubbed the sports city R/A out and continued ER. edited by roysie on 13/06/2012

It's a proper exit road - signposted to the Port and Jebel Ali. If you miss it you can still take a right off the actual roundabout, it's just quicker to take the slip road. On the way back, take the same road but as you approach the Green Community roundabout stay in the right lane as you can take the flyover onto the Emirates Road rather than sit for ever at the roundabout! :)

awesome ladies! Thanks so much for all the different routes. roysie - where exactly is the slip road? Is it a proper exit right before the round about or is it on dirt roads? THANK YOU! Its a double lane proper exit just after the fuel station :-) edited by roysie on 13/06/2012

The simpliest is Umm Suqeim road then on to SZR. But Umm Suqeim Rd can be very slow at this time of the day. Another faster option (as I am not sure whether you can yet access the Emirates Rd from the roundabout shown on Mich 72's map) is to get onto Emirates Rd from Motor City, heading towards Abu Dhabi. Then take the first exit to the right (Hessa Street). Follow this all the way to Sh Zayed Rd (beware of speed camera opposite petrol station). Ibn Battuta is then signposted off Sh Zayed Rd. I do this route every morning... onto Emirates Road, exit off slip road just before greens community R/A. Continue on that road watching the speed camera. Take exit off on to SZR... off 1st exit, right at R/A, left at next R/A and IBN is in front of you. 15 mins max. lol... never use Umm Sequim if you cant help it... it would take probably 35/40 depending at what time you go!

I was thinking the same thing, so I have mailed her... will let you know the outcome ;) OK... got a message back and it is as I thought... The dresses can be seen and tried on at the boutique called Maoison D'etre at the Green Community Market (opposite the opticians in the centre) Different sizes are available. The same shop that Tora Tora is in and her dresses are beautiful.. I have one :)

She imports them from Europe and then sells them from home. Facinators start at AED 150 and hats from about AED 250 if I remember rightly. She had every colour you could imagine and was happy for you to look through every box (which I think I did) and seemed to get pleasure out of seeing the excitement on my and DD's face trying them all on. Definitely worth going to have a look and really easy to find Thank you I will definately go and have a look... ;)

I have a bird feeder... they empty it everyday and virtually sit up in the tree and wait for it to be filled! but I fill mine with seed... it could make the difference? Sometimes there are 10/15 birds trying to get on the feeder at once.

The only mascara that doesn't end on my cheeks by the end of the day is Diorshow Black Out ([b'>not[/b'> the waterproof one). For some reason waterproof mascara is even worse for me than the non-waterproof ones. This is exactly the one I use... very good indeed :-) edited by roysie on 09/06/2012

For hm to say it ok to spend money, it must be something special ;) Thats exactly what my DH said last weekend when I got one... you get what you pay for!

I don't shop much. I wear an abaya, but will be travelling to Malaysia and would like to dress in light clothes. So if you kind ladies know where I can find long, flowy, summery dresses that doesn't stick to the body, it will be much appreciated. TIA How about trying Marks & Spencer... I have recently bought one from there in a cotton. Once you have one you like you could have some made up by a tailor??..

Can mold in AC cause headaches? Mold and dirt in A/C units can cause alot more than headaches. Its very dangerous, you should get the units cleaned out.

Kat does look elegant but I think she should have chosen something (at least color) more understated for the occasion - it's not her party! I thought it was just me being a grumpy old woman...........glad to see someone else thinking the same. Just a tad too pushy to be a lady, let alone a future queen. wow....

Of course its very possible to have low food bills if you're buying 'local' (regionally produced) items, but then I believe you get what you pay for.......the local veges often said to have been watered with sewage waste water, I would never buy any canned local goods or things like toothpaste or shampoo or meat.....and as someone has mentioned, who knows what goes into the dairy products. I don't believe the food standards and regulations are at the same level as developed countries and am worried about the long term risks of consuming. But that's just me, each to their own! Sometimes I struggle to buy anything, as you go into the stores and everything just looks so dull and awful. And as for the chicken breasts, I've never ever seen 'small' local ones, always so big they're just about off the tray or you could add cement and build a house :\: edited by Pomegranate on 03/06/2012 All local fresh ones are small. Its only 'defrosted' chicken breasts in the fresh bit that are huge... thats because they are not local.

We always turn off... never leave any electric on in the house when we are away! Fire... A/C leak... no thanks! The only thing we leave on is the irrigation for the garden. I even turn off the toilet hose taps, next doors flooded their villa a couple of years ago.
