What sort of event are you looking for? I think there is a face book group, Al Ain Weekends or something like that who run day trips, events, visit to various places. People meet up in the own cars and drive to wadis, Deseret, different cultural destinations. There is usually an event from them weekly (Usually on Fridays). Thanks thats great info. Anything really I'm open to suggestions :-)

Hiya How about trying special needs centres - they are always happy to have people willing to help. Sports academies, Zayed sports city, Al Jazira club ect... Dog and Cat adoption agencies or some Vets may be willing. Good luck Laura :-)

Hi Most places who sell fish and chips tend to sell Hamour. I can recommend the new St Regis hotel on the Corniche in AD - Gary Rhodes restaurant, I have had fish and chips there and they were lovely. Also if you are a member of The Club in Mina they also serve really nice fish and chips. I have heard that Coopers at the Park Rotana do too but i haven't had them myself. Good luck with the fish and chip hunt. Sorry cannot recommend anywhere in Dubai. xx

Hi I live in Bloom gardens and it is beautiful but unfortunately we are still awaiting the facilities!!!! So maybe Fayja is on about somewhere different, I know there are quite a few around here though, not sure of the names but if you look at khalifa park area or Salam street it may help narrow the search :-) <em>edited by Rubydo on 31/03/2014</em>

Hello, I'm new to Abu Dhabi and with Valentine's day around the corner I'm struggling to find a nice place to go for dinner. I'm looking for something romantic but that won't break the bank! Any one got a suggestion? A hotel maybe with dinner and drinks? x Hi Welcome to Abu Dhabi, how are you finding it? I think the hilton on the corniche are doing packages for valentines dinner, if I'm not mistaken there are 3 or 4 different options and venues, check out their website see if it tells you more info. Most of the hotels will have packages as valentines is a big thing out here (as strange as that sounds). Let me know how you get on :-) Laura x

I can give you the telephone number if you would like Laura x Yea please do Laura, couldn't find much info about them online. Where is the hamad centre based? Have a contact in a private school regarding special ed so hopefully that is going to work out for me mad it's close to where I am living. Fingers crossed! Xx It is based in marina village behind marina mall, it is 2 villas converted into 1 and expanding too. They don't advertise all that much that maybe why you couldn't find much info. The private school job sounds good, this is the route i would like to take too eventually. Let me know how you get on, best of luck. Laura x

Hi all I agree with all being said, it does sometimes state on the shelves that the chicken has been frozen so do not re freeze but i find all foods out here in general are hard to keep fresh after a day or so!!! i find myself shopping each day for dinner items and its quite annoying. Im not sure if the south african butcher in mina port sells chicken, they have got a website though and take orders and deliver, some of my friends use him and say he is good so maybe worth a try. I also find the chicken from most supermarkets quite jelly-fied if that makes any sense :-s XX

Hi Irish dolly Are you wanting full time work? What kind of work did you do with children on the autism spectrum? I have just finished work (to concentrate on my up coming wedding :-))at Hamad Centre for special needs - the work they do is primarily working using aba for children with autism and challenging behaviours. You work on a 1 to 1 basis with the children and have a team of around 5 children so alternate throughout the day with each child. Laura x

Hi SaKiwi Al reef is a great place to live, it has a community feel about it and lots of new things opening up all the time there too. We have a fair few friends who live there. It is slightly out of the city but wouldn't take more than 30 minutes in a good day to get into the city. There is Belvedere British school that is a pretty new school but has good reports about it, this is located in I think Mohammed bin zayed which would be roughly 20 mins drive from al reef. The good thing here is there isn't a catchment area so if you are willing to travel then you could place your children anywhere you like, although the start times are earlier than the UK. Hope this helps :-)

Hi Ladies I am new to EW and think it is fab. Does anyone know or can recommend a company who landscapes swimming pools for villas please? The only one I have found so far is a stall in ACE on yas but they were not very helpful at all, I would like to be able to look at different designs and options and prices, this lady just have me 2 options and 1 price without coming out to see the space we have got!
