Just to say, had the reflexology session today...feet really do feel much lighter and more flexible. Eva was really good, highly recommend for anyone experiencing those painful side effects!

Thank you ladies. I have called up a couple of places and asked about reflexology for pregnant women. I called Belle Femme and have an appointment on Tuesday at home, so can't wait. Will let you know how it goes!

We've been looking into this for our little one when he arrives in a few weeks. I found this guide helpful if you want to do it yourself, but frankly the process has put us off trying to do it ourselves and we will definitely use either Babysteps or MediExpress (i think that's what they are called). http://womenmoneyandstyle.com/go-to-guide-for-registering-a-birth-in-dubai/ Good luck!

Exhale in JBR is an absolute pleasure to go to as parking is all indoors inside Al Murjan building (entrance is just round the corner from Al Ansari exchange) and there's tons of visitor parking spaces and during the day there aren't many visitors anyway.

Thank you ladies for your responses. I guess we will have to see how it goes...maybe he will be a very good sleeper :O Its so difficult when older family members start giving you advice so its definitely nice to see what others have done/are doing so we can make up our own mind. The reason we're not getting a moses basket is because we felt its something that the baby outgrows very quickly anyway and we invested in the Stokke sleepi crib/cot/bed option instead. The main reason for being against moses basket is because of the research surrounding SIDs and the fact that there is not much air circulating inside the basket with all the padding. We will use only one cot bumper on one side so the sides are exposed and use swaddle pod to make baby feel more 'hugged'. We're planning to keep cot right next to the bed anyway, so hopefully it won't be an issue getting baby out to feed at night. I guess you never know what its going to be like until you get to know your baby and his patterns. But certainly looking forward to cuddles and getting to know our little man! x

hi ladies I just got back from the UK...was trying to avoid the summer heat here! I am now 31+5 so the due date is nearing..eek! Just wondering whether anyone has been going regularly to bumps coffee mornings? Anyway even if you have, is anyone else up for meeting up for our own coffee morning? If you are, email me sabinajabry at gmail dot com and maybe we can fix something up. Hope you are all well :) edited by sabinagoranova on 24/08/2013

Both my husband and his sister would go for the summer to their grandparents when they were kids and they had a brilliant time in terms of playing, learning and i think its the best sort of life experience to go stay in another country with family. Your son will probably appreciate the nicer climate, there will be constant attention for him and he will learn a new culture...this is sometimes so necessary when living in a more sheltered place like Dubai. I am pregnant at the moment, but I know I would send my child over the summer to stay with one or both sets of grandparents and hopefully join him for a part of it. :)

hi! I completely understand where you're coming from. I have just about reached 5 months and this is also our first, so learning everything as it comes! I think compared to if we were in a colder country, its normal that with the heat causing water retention etc you are feeling the effects earlier than you think you would. I have been sleeping badly already for a month because its either too hot, i wake up on my back with my legs feeling frozen and have to shuffle around to get comfortable. I also get swollen feet although my bp is normal. Things that have helped me are: lying down or if you can't then sit but have your feet higher up with a cushion or something; swimming in our pool or sea, or even just walking around in the water as it makes your blood circulate better; try pilates for pregnancy- i've been doing this at Exhale club in JBR and its helped me a lot. In terms of footwear, i find that a lot of my strappy sandals that buckle up around the ankle are too tight now :O So i have found some comfy sports flip flops with padded insoles for support. They cushion your feet when you step and your lower back is supported. Some maternity shops sell wider fit flat shoes. I think if you wear heels you tend to develop veins more. I have seen some nice flat shoes, so you don't just have to stick with granny ones! Also from boots or mothercare i have bought some foot sprays made with lemon and eucalyptus...they cool your feet, have a lovely smell and also stop your feet smelling with all that sweating! Take care and good luck with your pregnancy! x

You can check out the prams in Goodbaby Dubai, Deira also Just Kidding on SZR has a wide selection. I know Stokke pram frame can take the maxi cosi car seat.

Hi Grateful, Welcome and congratulations to you too on your little girl! This is our first also so we're learning as we go along and I haven't yet met too many mums to be (apart from in this group) who are expecting around the same time. I am due more around 22nd October. Would love to meet up and give you the lowdown on Dubai once you arrive, let me know when you guys are here. Also, ladies would like to ask if anyone has experienced fatigue, tenderness, very slight nausea every now and then, running to the loo all the time as well as hunger? I just reached 18 weeks today and since yesterday have been feeling like maybe my little man is having a growth spurt as it all seems to feel like the first trimester again! The bump definitely feels like its expanding, which i guess is to be expected but never thought all the yukky stuff comes back!?!?

hi all, Aish, i can't imagine what it would be like with twins if i am already that big with just one...so hats off to you! In terms of maternity clothes, i found it more comfortable to buy the trousers like stretchy jeans and pair of leggings. They are actually the ones that go 'over the bump' so have a really large stretchy panel. At first the might even seem a little loose but your bump will grow into it. They are made to accomodate your bump all the way through. Even though i haven't actually put on any major weight i found that buying a size bigger than my normal size is helpful as it doesn't cling that much and i am sure with the summer heat you will appreciate a bit more looseness in the clothing. I have also had a pair of trousers i no longer really used anyway and took them for AED20 to the tailor in Satwa to insert a panel! Re Boppy pillow is a full body-length pillow...one side goes under your head like a normal pillow, then it curves round your bump so you can rest the bump on it and curves so you can keep it between the knees and legs. There are other versions of pregnancy pillows so I am sure a lot of them are helpful. As opposed to just using your own pillows which scatter during the night, this one is soft and stays next to you so you can hug it! I find that i turn less with it next to me. I bought one from Dubizzle but after washing it etc it was as good as new. Hi Cleo4e, Don't worry i am still in desperate need of napping and can't wake up in the morning so i don't fully believe doctors that all fatigue goes away with such rapid growth of the baby. Sorry to hear about your pubic dysfunction...has the doctor prescribed any safe pain relief for this? A friend of mine had it for the whole pregnancy from as soon as the weight of the uterus was already quite heavy. She did a lot of swimming which helped relieve the pressure. I hope the chiropractor can help. Let us know how it goes. Where are you delivering?

thanks ladies! I am feeling much better week by week and walks in the park definitely help. Although everyone keeps saying how my bump looks really big. But i guess everyone's body is different and when we had our 16 week scan the little man was 15cm long and 150g, which i have been looking at and seems above average...must be all the protein I am eating! I am finding the heat already quite hard and try and stay out of the sun during the day. Anyone else already suffering from water retention due to heat? Just turned 17 weeks today and have found that pre-natal pilates is awesome. I feel so much better afterwards and will start going 2 times a week now i think. dxb_2013, maternity clothes is truly a blessing! New Look in the UK has a sale on still i think and they deliver to the UAE in case you need something...works out cheaper than clothes here! Also, since i am having trouble sleeping due to leg, hip and everything else cramps from lying on one side too long, plus i sometimes wake up lying on my back or on my right side and my legs feel numb as if my circulation has been cut off! So I have bought a Boppy Body Pillow. It really makes a difference and helps me stay off my back. :)

Thank you very much Feefmick, will check it out. CandiceH, someone on my FB also suggested this lady who does Aqua at Dubai Ladies Club and also at Meadows (her schedule is in 'about' section). I have messaged her and she says its a general class but suitable for all including pregnant ladies. I have yet to go but will check it out soon. http://www.facebook.com/pages/JAquaCise-Aquafit/155137677825?ref=ts

Thanks Aish! Is anyone registered to give birth at Welcare Hospital, Safa? Was going to arrange a visit to see the facilities but wanted to know if anyone has had any experience there already? Also, would any of you happen to know if there is such a thing as pre-natal Aqua aerobics classes in Dubai? Have a good day everyone and look after yourselves and the bumps.

hi ladies! Decided to sign up to this group as had my 16 weeks scan yesterday (and found out its going to be a boy!) and fingers crossed everything is ok. Feeling much more positive about pregnancy now as we had a miscarriage in January and this is our first baby. I am due on 22nd October and have the best Obs (Dr Petrova) at Cooper Clinic. If anyone is still searching for one, i wouldn't hesitate in recommending her. The one thing i have to say is I am glad with insurance here they do you a scan every month rather than in the UK on the NHS where my friends only got 2 throughout the whole pregnancy! Its far more reassuring. Hope you are all doing well x
