There is a brilliant shop on SZR called '(something) Library supplies', they have almost everything you would ever need and I have seen name tags there. If you are coming down SZR from MOE, take the slip road for interchange 3, (dont go right as that will loop you round) stay in the left lane, another slip road will open up, turn right there (by the metro station) you will have to go round the back of the buildings, but the road brings you out by Nissan. At Nissan turn right and its a few 100 meters on your right, next to a golf ship. Hope this makes sense :)

'Dragonmart experts' I like that! I dont think such a thing exists, the place is slightly random and chaotic. Some advice though, if you are looking for something specific, dont think that it will actually be in the section you'd expect, also, if you are brave enough and want to see it from start to finish, wear comfortable shoes ;)

A law came out about a year ago that all commercial busses/trucks have to have the 'how is my driving' sticker on the back of the vehicle. It is more than likely that in order to comply with these laws the companies put the driver's numbers because they can't be bothered to deal with it. I have once called the number on the back of a school bus and they took it very seriously. The same with a taxi company which I didnt expect!

I realise how ridiculous it is that I have stuck around for so long, I dont know where the time has gone...as I said, I was very young and at the time it wasnt a big concern, but as I have got older it is becoming an issue. I guess I just assumed he would change his mind with time, in fact I was convinced he would, but his reasons are purely selfish and I think thats what's bothering me more than anything. I dont think its a case of not wanting to have children with me, its more about having to give up his current lifestyle, and basically the money aspect of having children. I realise it's never a good time to have children, but everyone I know who has children has struggled in one way or another, but they are getting on with it. Its now got to the point where I think 'I've come this far...' I'm going to chisle away a little longer, but to be honest I wont be sticking around forever to find out. I am still young and as Jane30 mentioned, if it's your own happyness at stake then it's time to do something about it.

There are a lot of dogs there, but they mainly belong to the bedouins/farmers. A friend of mine lives there with her two dogs that she brought over from Dubai and she doesnt have any problems. I think its more a case of the locals not understanding that dogs are 'pets' rather than working guard dogs. They always look at her funny when she walks them, almost as if to say ' Crazy western lady, why dont you just let them roam free? I would guess there wont be any doggy parks or beaches, but then there arent here either. '

Wow Jane30, I could have written that! I am in exactly the same situation.... We have been together for 12, almost 13 years, and when we got together, he was young, and I was very young, but I always knew I wanted both marriage and children (and that he didnt particularly want either) Anyways, I hoped over the years he would change his mind... In the past 12 years I have seen most of my friends meet, get engaged and get married and I'm still waiting around. 6 months ago I took the bull by the horns too and brought it up. After a very long discussion, he said that he had been thinking about marriage so I left it at that. I assumed he would have acted on it by now, and in the mean time I was getting more and more depressed. I was moody and unmotivated in all aspects of life and I knew that I would have to bring it up again, so I did. This time it went better, but to be honest I dont know if I can wait around forever. I know I have time on my side, but my hormones are telling me to get on with it. I really dont know what to do. We have been getting on better since we spoke about it, but I dont know how long that feeling will last, and I dont know if I can really walk away, but on the other hand if I give up marriage and children I will probably end up resenting him..... This is only the short version of my situation :(

Gave them to K9 friends in the end. pPease dont throw them in the skip, give them to one of the charities that can sell them at thier garahe sales. They will also take other items you dont want to take with you, providing they are in good condition:)

Its quite a common occurance, they let it ring once in the hope that you will call them back. What happens then I dont know, but I think they can then somehow access your account and either steal all your credit, or if you have a post paid account then they can make calls to your account. Dont ever call back.

They certainly would win the award for the stupidest procedures! We had a similar thing when we applied for the Football world cup package which they said we have to take for a minimum of 6 months. If after 6 months we decide to cancel it thats no problem, only we would have to cancel ALL the services, get our deposit back and then re apply for the internet! Needless to say we didnt bother cancelling the TV, we did how ever upgrade recently.....thats another story!

We fired him after a while as I was having to do all the things he didn't do....then after a month of having to water the garden myself I gave in and hired him again.....he still does a s**t job, but Im happy I dont have to do it anymore.

What ever you do, DONT STAY IN THE GANGA RATTAN hotel in Agra.....it was a s**thole....only stayed there as it was a package deal. Also would recommend you go to the Taj Mahal as early as you can, that was you avoid the crowds. Also, if you can, see the Taj Mahal before you go see any other tombs and palaces, I found it was a bit of an anti climax seeing it after 6 days of looking at other less significant tombs.

It depends where in Europe as some countries require quarantine etc, in which case it wouldnt be worth it. Each country has their own rules, however regardless where in Europe, your dog will definitly need to be microchipped and his vaccinations need to be atleast 30 days old, and no more than 11 months. I can recommend snoopy pets, give them a call, they will be able to advise you and arrange everything from A-z. HTH

We had the same with a frisky little kitten. I've had many cats over the years, but she was particularly keen on using her teeth and claws. We found her a home and she came back after a few days because she was too rough with the kids..As the saying goes "if you love something let it go, if it comes back to you, its yours" (or something like that) anyways, we ended up keeping her, and she has become the most affectionate of all our 3 cats...I think you just have to give it time. You can try playing with her with toys/strings etc rather than your hands. Also if she does bite/claw, make a loud noise; she will soon associate this uncomfortable sound with biting. HTH

I dont think they can hack into your phone, they just like saying 'Hello', its the most annoying thing, and if you have the time, it can go on for hours because they always like to get the last 'Hello' in!

I would say beach is easier, as its all lever ground, you wont flip over on the beach. Everything depends on how soft/deep the sand is. Unfortunately its not too easy to explain, its just something you learn over the years. Its worth letting your tires down just as a precaution, generally you can go as low as 15 Psi, but as Maxindubai said, 20 should also be good. (not too low or the tire can pop off the rim) When you stop, make sure its a place you can get yourself out of (either harder sand, or a slight down slope) If you do get stuck, make sure your wheels are straight when being towed out. We went for a desert drive yesterday and the dunes were just perfect! If you want to get some practice, head up towards bab Al Shams, once you have gone over the bypass road, keep going straight, and take a left at the second round about. There are some small dunes there as well as harder stuff, geat for practicing. make sure there is another 4X4 with you though, in case you do get stuck :) Good luck.

I've done a few in my time and its mainly maids and Gardeners, so definitly dont sell anything of value as they will either not buy it, or try to get it for 1dh! They do however love shoes, clothes, electronics, kitchen items. I would definitly sell the cots and prams on dubizzle (if they are in good condition) Also beware of small things like jewelery going missing. :)

My OH has a friend who insists on coming to stay with us once a year (if he can get a good deal on a flight) he then stays a whole month to make his bargain flight worthwhile! A whole month! He is a bit of a tight A** so over the years I have made it clear that he has to contribute food and drink to the fridge, so what he does is litterally buy only apples, crisps, 5 slices of cheese, 5 slices of ham, 5 rolls and a six pack of mirinda to tide him over till the next shop. He always makes sure he has used up all his supplies before he leaves. He wont take himself out in a taxi, he waits for us to come home from work to take him out, and when we do, all he wants to do is go to karama and buy things that he has haggled down to almost nothing for him to sell back at home. This includes cigarettes. We have got to the point now where when he is here, we tell him what we are doing and he is welcome to come along but he has to pay his way: this means us going for dinner at MOE (Butcher shop for example) and he goes off and gets himself a 10dhs twister meal from KFC. He knows Dubai is not cheap, but he is happy to milk it for everything he can get for free. He was supposed to come over at the beginning of April, and to my surprise only for one week, but he couldnt get a cheap enough flight and so didnt bother!

Moving your dog to Qatar is actually quite a simple process. You dont need any blood tests, you just need to make sure your dog is microchipped and the vaccination is no more than 12 months old, but no less than 3 weeks. Once you have booked the flight, you need to go find a vet in Doha who can suppy an import permit, then go to the cargo village vet section, they will give you an export permit. Once all this is done, you just need to drop him off at the cargo village 3 hours before the flight :) If you prefer someone else to do this for you, I can recommend http://www.snoopypets.com/relocation.html Hope this helps.

I just went through this process. You need to go to one of the typing places by the Bur Dubai police station, they will type up a letter requesting a police report (completely pointless if you ask me) You then take it to the police station, they will then (in thier own sweet time) type up a police report. You can then go to any RTA office (I went to the one up stairs in the Co-op by safa park and they will give you a new liscence in minutes.

As for the cost, 400dhs is the minimum, but depending on how much over the limit you were going, it goes up accordingly. My lasy one was 700dhs :( Rumour has it though that if there are more than 1 car in the picture, they dont know who was speeding and are likely to just let it go :)
