I had the same problem, I tried calling all numbers and they either didn't exist, or the mail box was full, or I was left on hold for ages. I went on to their website and there was an option to 'send us a message' which I did and I got a reply in 24 hours.

My brother said he found them in Karama too, obviously not the real deal, but a fraction of the price. He also said he couldnt tell the difference as he has the originals, and said the karama copies were very similar.

A friend of mine found a tabby cat 'on the road' in Arabian Ranches, by Saheel. The cat was wearing a yellow collar, but no microchip. Unfortunately the cat was hit by a car and the fact that he/she was wearing a collar must mean there is someone out there looking for it....

I had a bit of a rat problem, they even nested in the cooker which had to be thrown out as it smelled of rat pee. I couldn't bring myself to call pest control as they put down poison, which is a horrible, nasty, slow death; I used traps. They are quick and mostly painless, but also effective.

It definitly is a bit of a lottery! I learned to drive here 12 years ago and all I really learned was how do pass the test, rather than how to drive (my parents taught me to drive, so i knew what I was doing when I first got in the car, the instructor was very surprised when I got in and knew what to do with a clutch) I believe they are only allowed to pass a certain amount of people a day, so your daughter should try get there early for the test, and hopefully be one of the first few to do the test. As for the speeding, it is common practice to allow 20km/h more than the road signs say, however for the test, I would stick to what the road signs say, just to be on the safe side. I wonder if the instructor is telling her to 'speed' to test her?

I just can't understand how that person managed it, its not a busy road so he/she surely could have avoided it and secondly its just before a round about, so he/she should have been slowing down. Its takes quite a bit of impact to kill a camel...shame that person probably wont be found and fined!

You could also try to go to the recycling point at Spinneys Umm suqeem, people place the glass in a card board box so its easy to have a rummage, assuming you don't mind a few strange looks :)

You can cover the area with baking soda. Leave it for a few hours and then vacuum off, it works for dog urine :)

Im surprised there is only one left...seeing as many people are leaving Layan for various reasons. Many of the houses on H road are reserved for Emirates pilots, so that could be why I guess. Also I think 153K is a rip off, last I heard they were 135K. There are plenty of 3 bedrooms available is you are willing to lose a bedroom.

Ha, and I bet he thought he was going to have an easy time :) I guess it depends on what he does on a daily basis, but the only thing I can think of is window cleaning, inside and out, maybe wash al the curtains, bedding, sofa cushions and covers.

Its a tricky one as there are so many variables... Usually when cats stop eating, its a sign that something is wrong, it could be the kitten that is stressing her, but it could also be a coincidence. I would give her another day, and if she is still not eating then take her to the vet. If she is a bit miffed about the kitten then she will eat soon enough as cats wont starve themselves. Try paying extra attention to her, and keep contact with the little one to a minimal. The yellow vomit is bile by the way :)

We had a burglar a few years ago in us2, on the first day of Eid, at around 8am.....quite stupid if you ask me...on a day when most people will be home. He managed to get away with some foreign currency, the video camera and some other random bits. I wasn't going to call the police at first, but then I did, they were there within 15 minutes and because the maid managed to see what he was wearing (The typical Pakistani outfit) she gave a description to the police. They found him half an hour later (have no idea how they singled him out as most Pakistani men wear the same outfit) He said someone had just sold him the camera. The police took him away and asked me to come to the station to identify my things. Once I had claimed my stuff, the police actually beat him with a stick....right in front of me! Not what I wanted to see, but it's good to see they take it seriously! edited by Sabrina H on 04/12/2011

I think she means you can go o get your fingerprinting done at Knowledge village rather than going to Barsha/Karama?Jafiliya. I eventually found the one In Karama. Thought I was in for a long wait whenI had ticket no. 310 and they were only just processing no.8. Luckily it skipped from 9 to 300, it took me 40 minutes in total at Karama.

Pollution from cars also plays a big role, you can see such a huge difference when there is a public holiday and there are fewer cars on the road...no smog on the horizon. Also The weather, the summer is always grey and miserable, but when it cools down the sky gets bluer, white fluffy clouds everywhere, amazing sunsets and happier Dubai residents :)
