I fully agree with all the below comments...If your cat is lonely, there are 100's of cats and kittens looking for a home. "dont breed or buy, while shelter pets die" :(

Skydiving scuba diving (do the aquariums at DM and Atlantis offer this too?) Driving a ferrari Racing at Autodrome (not to watch to drive) Any other ides for DH's 40th welcome! Thank you all. You can book scuba diving through Atlantis Dive center 04-426 3000, they have various packages and excursions on offer. As for the Sky diving, Call Sky dive dubai on 971 50 153 3222...they are based near the palm. I think you have to have a certain amount of experience to jump here, but 1100 jumps sounds good to me ;) Driving a ferrari, I would contact www.dreamdays.ae and for racing at the autodrome, you can either take your own car to one of thier track days, or borrow one of theirs. www.dubaiautodrome.com. Hope this helps :) --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well if it's not being used, how about turning the water off to the cistern, flush it, then the loo is empty - no water to get smelly. The water is off, and the cistern is empty, but the water remains in the bowl....:( I'm using the maids room as my office, so its not pleasant Looks like I'll have to get the bog brush out and give it a good scrub with detol ;) Thanks ladies :)

My OH thougt the suits were a bargain and got 3 for 500dhs! Needless to say he hasn't worn them, probably doesn't even remember the scam....hope he doesn't fall for it again ;) This was 2 years ago, maybe they got locked up and have only just been released? I definitly think the police should be called next time they approach someone. Get their number plate etc. edited by Sabrina H on 11/03/2011

Thanks for the advice....I went to feed them last night and I didnt see a single one...I hope they havent all gone walkabout. I didnt want to get FF or K9 involved as they have enough on thier plate, but maybe they will be able to autorize thier rates at the vets if needed. I will speak to the lady who told me about them and see if we can get a team of volunteers together to trap them.

There was a deal from Cobone the other week, it was 150dhs instead of 300dhs. I should have grabbed the deal before it was too late. As far as I know you just have to bring in your photo's on a memory stick, and they will show you what colors, themes and layouts they have available.

Go down Al Wasl/Iranian hospital road all the way to the end, take a right onto Diyafa street, at the next round about take a right into Satwa. Fida is about half way down this road on your right. Probaby best to park a few meters into the road and walk the rest of the way. ( I think there is a mosque opposite) Its one of those places I know where it is, but I dont know whats around it. ;)

For buttons, zippers etc FIDA in Satwa is definately the best place....its amazing how much they can cram into a small place like that...you can easily spend hours in there. I think they close for lunch so its best to go in the morning.

Sabrina H, which is the vet in AD which does declawing? Would really like to know so that I can boycatt them.... Might also ask some questions of them which would hopefully prove embarrassing... It was the British Vets. I dont know if they still do, but they certainly used to. They would insist on a consult first (additional charge) and of course a few days recovery (another additional charge) By the way, I have never had my cats declawed, or ever even considered it, Its just I used to work at a vets here in Dubai and I was doing some reasearch for a very persistent client! I think the cost put her off in the end. :)

Unless things have changed, there is no one in Dubai that will do declawing. (there is a vet in AUH who charges loads, probably in the hope of putting people off, but then why offer it? ) So I wonder where he had it done. Poor kitten, some people are so selfish, no consideration for the cat at all!

DKC has been around the longest and they can definitly be highly recommended, however I recently had experience with Snoopy pets and they were brilliant. (probably a little cheaper than DKC too) http://www.snoopypets.com/relocation.html

I went to one years ago and it was mayhem. People were queing all round the building, as far as the eye can see. They only take about 100 people through to the next level of interviews anyways, so if you can indeed bring yourself to fight your way through the masses, go early.

A friend of mine was married to a muslim man, they got married here. After a few years they got divorced and she said she couldnt believe how easy it was. They just went to the courts here and applied for divorce, paid 300dhs and it was done. It was a mutual decision of course, so I think in your friends case, they will both have to agree to it for starters. I dont know if the fact that they originally got married in the UK would complicate things, but if the most recent was the sharia law marriage, then that would be a good starting point.

Please dont use the poison.....thats an awful way to die, they basically heamorrage and internally bleed to death.... I looked into every humane way of getting the 'rat in me kitchen' and I found the best thing is with the traps that break their neck. I was hoping no to have to resort to killing them, but before I knew it there were 2. The trap is an instant death, no suffering, plus you know where the body is, they cant go off and die somewhere where your cat or dog might eat them.....

I have seen them at the pet shop in Arabian Ranches, and also at various vets (Jumeirah vets). It takes 24 hours to get them engraved. They have a few different styles too.

Just got back from the bike show and I have to say I was a bit disappointed. It was badly organised. There a few stunts which were quite good, but it just seemed like no one knew where they were meant to be and when. I had a friend who was racing in the super bikes, and they were just aimlessly going round the track. If you're not petol heads, then I wouldnt bother to be honest. :(

As far as I know, you can just show up and rent the quads, but usually you can only go within the fenced off area, they wont let you take them in to the desert on your own. You can try calling sandstorm motorcycles, they might be able to give you a number of someone who rents quads for you to take out on your own. Hope this helps.

No one treats for heartworm here as it 'doesnt exist', in fact you wont find the meds here anyways, you would have to bring them in yourself. As for intestinal parasites, this should be done every 3 months, and Frontline for fleas and ticks can be used every month, (fleas are rare here, and ticks are more common in the hotter months)

I hear you Zannie! Ours went for repairs and it was gone for a month. Luckily I was able to take my laundry to my dad's. Sounds like a laundrette is a good business idea!
