you can try Viva Tailors in Satwa - they do a good job too- they have sales on fabric at the moment (DSF) and stitching i guess is about 800-1000 - cant remember but they come highly recommended. they also do female work suits and dresses and they did that well too

so we plan to get an experienced person who can be both nanny and look after the house... but priority will be baby... i would tell her about the cam before we hire her and also its not to go crazy about every move and watch constantly - its just to have some peace of mind and check once in a while ... we not planning to cover every part of the house... certainly not her room or any bathrooms... just the main entrance (incase someone sneaks into the house, a friend had some bad experiences with awesome maid getting someone over) and the living room or where the baby will be most of the times.... its not that i wouldnt trust the nanny or have trust issues - i just want to know if its ok and do people really keep cams for baby when they get back to work in three months?

i think its wrong to exploit but at the same time - if someone has agreed to work for a certain amount which is higher than basic labour requirements its totally ok! its not like she cant apply for another job in three years... she can very well but if she is happy with something which is working well for both parties its ok and NOT exploitation... as long as its not lower than standards set by their country. its very much the same in job market as well - some people work crazy ours and get paid about 15-18k a month and some companies for the same level of job pay about 30-40k truly subjective...

Redrec Tangle - thats a scary feeling :( oh no... i so love my privacy n 'me' time! Thanks KH - really good tips... deleting personal stuff from my laptop is a good point so is maintainence work... i was thinking to do pest control in the house , we dont really need it but just before the baby is born... Sit very still (simply because you can) and listen. Can you hear that? Enjoy it, its the last time you'll hear silence for the next 5-7 years. LOL - very true...i would add 'sleep as much as you can'. Take time in the last few days to get your hair and nails done, massage, facial etc. Go out for dinner with your DH as much as you are able to, go to the movies, out for coffees with friends etc. on a more practical side, you could cook and freeze some nutritious meals, get the layette and cot linen washed, ironed and put away, stock up on nappies, wipes and formula (if you think you may want to go that way). declutter your home and get rid of stuff you haven't used and won't be needing. you'll get the urge to clean absolutely everything in the last few days/weeks. get any maintenance that needs doing done - the leaky tap, lightbulbs that need changing, air conditioner servicing/ cleaning. if you are working, write a hand-over list for whoever is going to cover your maternity leave, and go over it with them. make copies of all your work and delete personal stuff off your work pc. clear out your desk so someone else could use it if needed while you are away. i could go on, i was unstoppable in my last trimester : )

hello everyone... third trimester is round the corner for most of us... what are the 'to do' things before the baby is born... please share your thoughts.... for me the biggest point on my to do list is to find a home stay nanny/maid... i am also thinking whether i should keep my baby in a nursery instead after my maternity leave... is anyone also considering a masseuse for post partum massage?

i have the same issue - we used to get our two bedroom house cleaned in two hours and then increased by two extra hours so the cleaners could wash the balconies well... now i have two ladies for two hours (total four hours) and they can barely manage a 2bed room apartment, although my apartment is huge - still its two bedroom!! one room and bathroom is usually very clean as its just the two of us and we dont use it at all...and the only two areas they need to concentrate on balcony hall and master bathroom... i dont give them ironing or ask them to make the bed etc - still they struggle to finish within 4 hours... so frustrated with maid services and have tried several agencies... just cant seem to get the right quality for the time and money!

Saggi_1 i think i have that exact same scan coming up withe the same dr...cnt say ive been looking fwd to it atall. Cant say i look fwd to anything when it comes to City which is a shame as i har heard loads if good things about it but my personal experience has been pants. Its also far out n take a whole day up just going there as i have to plan each appointmet around my 15months olds naps n feed times. Im defo miving to al zahra now. Its so much closer to the palm just need to book a veiwing of the place and look into the obgynes. MrsDB, do let me know how it goes with Zahra - i might consider moving too... the only reason i dont wish to is because of Dr Elsa... but its so far from palm and truly bad service every single time

Hello Gingerbird and FF8, Welcome to March due dates group and congratulations to you. Gingerbird wishing you all the best with your move, unfortunately i dont know anything in AD so cant help much... FF8 goodluck with your scan .. just wanted to share my city hospital anomaly/morphology scan experience The Good news is: baby is normal and healthy - which is THE most important part. However the experience was very bad with City. the radiology department seemed very unorganized (made us wait for over 40 mins, the receptionist did not have basic information sitting at front desk etc... however we were really looking forward to the first big scan experience and seeing the baby upclose... we were quiet disappointed to see the facilities - very old machines and 3d was very bad quality - we could hardly see the baby as the machine was not advanced enough...the worst is they charged us for the scan and set the appt with a radiologist DR Priya at City hospital and she didnt turn up until the last 5 mins of the scan and everything was done by the nurse. which i think is really bad as why should i pay and book a time with a Dr and she is not even there during the scan. she came in the last 5 mins... spoke briefly - got two phone calls within the 5 mins and left. it was very disappointing as our 12 week scan was with Dr. George at Genesis and were expecting the same level of mature discussion - when we asked Dr Priya for specific details, she said she will send the report to my dr????!!!! She was very impersonal and abrupt! when i asked her for a proper view of the baby, she said she cant provide it as the baby is too big... huh??!! at 20 weeks really? we complained and now will pay extra at genesis/perinatal just to get a decent scan and someone to speak to us properly than a nurse doing a silent scan and a DR entering in the last 5 mins to actually contribute nothing!

Hi Ladies, Quick update: have chosen OBGYN and booked in for the week after Eid. I hope she is available in March or I am going to have to go see someone else and will only have two appointments before I go to the UK for a month. Looking forward to the scan and think I have decided that I want to know the gender now as I could shop in the UK and save some money!! All the sickness has gone, replaced with sciatica, cramps in my legs in the mornings, back ache and pain in my knee. I think I have some round ligament pain too. I still have all my spots and my bump is a bit higher this time - my DH is convinced it's a girl this time but I am still adamant another boy :) We shall see! Hope you are all well? Anyone else planning a 3D/4D scan? I had one with my son and it was amazing. This time I have lots of scar tissue so scans haven't been that clear and am worried to have a 3D would be a waste due to poor visibility - its quite expensive to do. I hope you feel better soon alowicious_28, yeah its important to check if your OBGYN is around in march.. i was with Dr Anne at City and she was very unsure/unplanned about her travel plans and said she could go away anytime in feb or march or april... i successfully switched to Dr Elsa and hope it all goes well. i will be doing the 3d/4d scan at City in week 20. i wanted to do it earlier but the Dr suggested that it might not be very clear so yeah opting at the end of week 20. i do have some back pain but so glad the naueseatic phase is over... i have put on total of 4 kilos so far in week 17, but most of it was in the last month.. i hope not to gain more...

Thank you ladies... i think we will certainly invest in one as DH is not comfortable having the baby sleep with us on the bed... So essentially the bassinet/Moses basket is only used for few weeks? Notnewintown - i would need a more neutral color :) pink might not work as we are having a baby boy :) AnonDubai - thanks - AED 200 is perfect -i really dont wish to spend on something that the baby will outgrow Meagle - i love the pack n play idea too - where do you get them and how much is it for?

certainly love AMARA and Sensasia... if you want a slightly cheaper option but decent as well.. cleopatra at wafi... you can use them regularly..... however the maternity massages dont have the same impact as they are very gentle n make you sleep on sides instead of stomach and back which makes it slightly uncomfortable... but nonetheless worth pampering yourself :)

Thank you ladies for your advice.. Kitten67, we stay in palm so its really difficult n expensive to get transport till the trams start next year...which is my point of argument with my husband that she may take many days off incase she does not have transport. Meagle , i totally understand what you mean... DH doesnt want someone live in purely for his privacy and i would love this option too, only issue is no or rare late nights possible and its just less hassle to have her around... i guess its just a big mental change for us, we are so used to our space , we kind off get itchy even when family stays with us for a long time..... i just need to figure out the possibility of a live out and if not we will just settle for a live in

Hi ladies ... I had a strange experience with her today as well.. Surely not as bad as picking out her nails... But first she made us wait as there was a delivery which is fine and then we were asked to come back within an hour.. And was called back by the nurse in thirty minutes and when we rushed to the hospital .. The nurse said she had finished all deliveries and was seeing a patient... She returned back after an hour.. So we actually saw her three hours after our scheduled appt time When we finally met her ... She seemed to casual as cold (she did apologise for being late though) We asked her a few questions and she seemed quite disinterested ... Maybe she could be casual as everything in my scan was normal however she negated her own statements from my first visit about my medications and multivitamins .. ALSO she said she will be on leave in sept , again in dec and probably in feb or march or April and is not sure ... I felt that it was very unreliable as I read a few previous posts and she was due to actually go on leave in August and now is actually going in sept and flies out almost every three months which is unpredictable .... I am seriously considering to switch but dr Elsa first appt is In dec.

Hello ladies ... Congratulations to the new members of march due date... I just got my Down syndrome scans done today at genesis with dr. George and the results were good and normal. I am soooo relieved that the baby is ok. I was so negative all this time. The scan was amazing ... Just divine to see the baby move.... I really liked dr George as well... Although I am with dr Anne at city , I felt he was more warm... Thinking if I should switch but not sure how that would work out... And which hospital he delivers As of now just cherishing the beautiful images and feel more positive ....

Thank you ladies for your thoughts... TDB - i would certainly need a lot more tips as i get close to delivery and will be glad to learn from your experience. Sirocca.. i absolutely agree with you, i have read Lean in too and feel atleast some sort of flexibility is so important for women to be able to be equal part of the workforce and this is definitely not about compromising on economic development of a country.. infact its about acknowledging women ability to want to manage both and be able to support them through this phase. Its perfectly fine if a woman decides to take a break but for some of us we know we have worked so hard to get to a certain level and want to be able to continue and give our best to both personal and professional front. apart from just taking a longer mat leave... i have another dilemma... i might be offered a better position within the same org and i am already feeling guilty that i might have to refuse it or stop the process since im pregnant... its just very disheartening to let go of it especially when i have worked so hard for it. its surely about understanding whats more important etc but i am thinking should i let them know that i am pregnant and not consider me? or just go through the process? im sure there would be other women who would have gone through a similar situation...

hi.... question for all working new moms... how did you manage... im planning to keep my job post delivery and thinking how does one practically get back to work within 45 days of delivering a new born baby? is this physically and emotionally possible... ? i was wondering how inconsiderate are labour laws in this country... isnt there a way to convey this message to Emirati women who are members of the govt to review and reconsider this aspect Women are equally or maybe even more responsible than men who look after work home and family brilliantly ... why do companies, govt not give women the right consideration....? i would like to know your views and experiences... Thanks

Hi everyone, hope you're all well? I am 12 weeks now, got my scan on Tuesday - very excited! Still won't be telling the world for a while yet though. I haven't chosen my OBGYN yet, I'm waiting for the scan just to check everything is ok and then will research and decide. I've still got all day sickness, it's not as bad as it was but my diet is very limited and I have lost 11lbs in weight from food aversions and being sick. I am much less sick now than I was. It's actually been a good day today and haven't felt much nausea - I am hoping this means it's easing off a bit, well I can hope :) congrats alowicious_28, on completing 12 weeks ... im sure you will feel much better now.. i still have a few weeks to go... it seems i have been slightly dehydrated and my ketone test was positive as i havent been able to eat much... have not lost as much weight but i guess slightly weak... fingers crossed for my next scan in two weeks... so worried!

Congrats Humous.. you must be glad to be over the 12 weeks and the baby is fine.... are you still feeling Nausea?....Sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction with your doctor. can you please advice which doctor you had this bad experience with? Thanks Starfish, I am feeling better...but not 100% yet, threw up this morning just as I was about to leave for work...had mascara running down my cheeks lol. I had my 12 week scan yesterday and the scan itself went well (baby squiggling around like mad) but was really disappointed with the doc. First I had to wait over an hour to be seen (they were running late and didn't bother letting people know). So I left work early for nothing in the end. Then, when I was finally seen, the doctor spent the first few minutes of my appointment on the phone to another patient while I was lying on the bed with my clothes up waiting to be scanned. While she was on the phone, she picked all her nails and pulled them off and collected them on the table and then threw the nails in the bin. This is what DH observed while I was fuming on the bed waiting to be seen. I found her to be very abrupt and just wasn't happy at all. I'm now on a waiting list for Dr Elsa in December..and I don't care if I only meet her 2 months before I'm due. I don't want my current doctor!!! I'm not sure if I'll go for the extra test. Everything was fine in my scan and I'm not over 35...just feel uncertain about doing it.

Thanks a lot for your thoughts... your right i should try n focus on the positives and i am sure there are many ... i feel i know and understand it but somewhere these negative thoughts take over... hope this phase passes too sHi Believe it or not these feelings are considered normal, being pregnant for the first time you can't help but think of all the things that will change for the worst but instead of dwelling on them try and think of the positive changes that will take place, such as a beautiful little person giving you so much joy, picking a name daydreaming about what their personality will be like once they get to a certain age. You may feel bad for feeling like this but it will pass and I hope you can concentrate on the good times ahead oh and btw once you feel that baby move I'm sure you will feel a bit better. I hope that this helps and best of luck for the rest of your pregnancy :)

Sorry you are feeling sick. I know the feeling. You know I read once to eat something with ginger flavor such as crackers or something. But to be honest with you, none of that worked for me while I was pregnant. The one thing that worked was apples! I don't know what it was, but once I was so sick that out of desperation my husband bought me bags of cut apples. It worked wonders for me. The sickness won't affect your baby as far as I know. The baby is still small. Actually, many women loose weight during morning sickness. Just make sure you drink plenty of water (I could only drink sparking) and take your vitamins. However, if your morning sickness is out of control, there are some pills the Doctors can give you. But those made me even more tired so I dropped it. Best of luck. Rest a lot. It's all part of the plan! hugs! Thanks Akia... just hating the feeling... try to sleep as much as possible.... but tough to be at work and feel sick.. people have already started questioning me if im expecting.. really dont wish to share till 12weeks... i have been trying to have fruits as it helps than normal food... thanks... and hope to get over this feeling sooonnn

It will go away but then the 2nd trimester back pain and the 3rd trimester heartburn will start. Don't mean to frighten you but there's so many different things that happen in different ways to different mommies but they do all subside eventually. And then once the pregnancy is over the new born sleep deprivation begins. :) Please don't take this the wrong way, just trying to make you smile! edited by Chi2dxb on 23/07/2013 haha chi2dxb.. and i thought bloating was just bad enough... sigh!
