We used Rosgold who were excellent. They cleaned absolutely everything, inside cupboards, got paint spots off floor, bird poo off balcony....literally everything. I would highly recommend them. In fact I'm going to call them to arrange for a weekly maid service. Can't remember the number but they have a website. Hi Can you kind to share the number of the company and how much per hour please?. Really desperate as I need a cleaner this week. The company I usually use has closed down; no idea when they will be up and running again.. TIA The numbers are 048135540 or 0503837584. They charge 35dhs/per hr although we had a set price for a deep clean. Hi I tried both these numbers and they did not go through....do you have another by chance? I need a serious clean out.

The US parental guidelines for this is no TV before age 2. If you have older kids around that is very hard I do admit. There is nothing wrong with TV but there is just too much on..... I do think that the Baby Einstein videos are nothing horrible but they DO NOT enhance development. Read to your kids......for you its great bonding and the children love it..... My son loved Dora at 2.....but I did not think it helped his IQ :) I am surprised about the tablet comment....considering some schools are only using smart boards and I pads now on a regular basis...... I do think that the old fashioned way of learning is one of the best.....Reading......

I want to purchase a Bare Minerals Starter Kit in "Fair". After a thread on here a couple of weeks ago, I went and tried some and it's lovely. Unfortunately neither of the Sephora shops (Dubai Mall or MoE) stock the starter kit in the colour "Fair". I don't want to buy each piece seperately, that would cost too much. The Bare Minerals website doesn't ship to Dubai. It's available on Amazon but they don't ship to Dubai. Does anyone know of any other retailers of Bare Minerals Makeup in Dubai I could call on? Or any other bright ideas of how to get the kit in the correct colour for my skin? They wouldn't switch any of the contents in the shops... Thanks Could you do shop and ship? that way you order fom US and get a better prcie on it...........? edited by saintlouismama on 10/10/2011

there was a big news story on this....actually allowed to use this product and still label it fake fur or skin? since it is not a animal usually used for this purpose......in the US they now must label origin also......big names are using it...tommy , baby phat, etc..... How can a country respect animal rights- when they do not recognize human rights........? this is China.....

The trouble with unpegging is that it would lead to volatility in the dinar and could cause more problems in the short term with businesses going bankrupt, etc. than it would solve. Plus, oil is denominated in the dollar, so from Abu Dhabi's perspective, its better to stay with the dollar. I am a fan of a managed peg in general, but for now, I think the UAE should leave well enough alone. Guiness, what do you do for a living? very interesting post? are you in econ? I am a international affairs follower-- (MA is in it.....) you seem quite well informed....nice posts.........:) Wow, I am a mom of three...would love to meet you when I move to Dubai in Aug...just to discuss events....USAID, nice. We stayed at the GH with our two young kids for about a month when we first relocated to Dubai. It is a gorgeous hotel and we had a lovely stay. I don't think you could ask for a nicer place to park temporarily. We had a 2 bed/2 bath apartment which was nice and spacious. Great service. Staff treat the kids like royalty and our daughter was in heaven when they came round each afternoon to give a bowl of fruit and a treat for tea time (for the treat of course, not the fruit). There is a shuttle that will take you to Royal Meridien any time you want to use the facilities (3 pools, beach, great kids club that they have just refurbished); although it is only across the street it is not really possible to walk with kids given construction, lack of crosswalks/sidewalks. We loved the Meridien so much we joined the beach club. Happy to answer any specific questions you might have just post or leave your email. I'm from US as well but detoured in London before Dubai. edited by Catawba KSE on 30/07/2011 this is exactly what i wanted to hear, i have 3 kids, under 6...so yes i am so happy to hear your glowing reviews! email is [email protected] ill take any advice you have!!! :)

In my 3 years in Dubai this site has made me laugh, cry, inspired me, encouraged me and given me some very good advice. I have not posted that much considering I have been here for 3 years but usually did when I needed help most. Situation No. 1 , My then boyfriend told me he would never marry me and didn't want kids..... in flooded loads of first hand experience responses and I got told what I did and didn't want to hear.....UPDATE I am now married 2 years and TTC some of you were right and glad I stayed around to see if he would mature! Situation No.2, My boss was bullying me so bad I quite my job.... with the courage from the ladies here I stood up for myself something I find hard to do sometimes......UPDATE.......well lets just say it wont ever happen again :-) He has had surprise visitors this week from our head office in Europe!!! They were probably the main ones for me but I got my doctor, my dentist, my gym, my fave food delivery, the best steak, the best daycare for my fur baby and who does the best botox.....it is Dubai after all. And lots more really Dubai has been wonderful to me so I wish all still here all the best for the future and for the newbies to give it time seek out the good people they are there don't get stressed and don't compare it to anywhere else there is nowhere else like it. embrace the local culture and if you can and have an opportunity speak to as many people of different cultures and nationalities that you can, if you never did a gap year and traveled the world it's the next best way to experience the world. Goodbye Dubai and thank you ladies. Next stop Jordan. edited by Pricey on 28/07/2011 anything interesting your doing in jordan? half of my in law family is there...very pretty country-- the desert.....west amman is nice also...do you know where you are living?

I have a rescue -- Rottweiler-- and 3 yound kids. She is a mix- so she wont have alot of the genetic faults of a pure breed... My kids walk on her, dress her, and love her. She hurds them. I love her but she is no built for the desert so a family member is going to foster her.... Ask yourself what is good for you- as so many have said-- Do you want a lap dog, a runner, a lazy dog? hair ? no hair? but i do have to agree...get a older one...no teething issues!

We have sold two and bought 1 car off dubizzle, Its just like newspaper classified so its a medium you need to do your diligence on the vehicle. have the car carefully checked and tested so that there are no issues and people tend to put their prices slightly up. CAn I ask about insurance? I have heard varied quotes on how insurance is calculated? We will be buying a car in August in Dubai- system is totallly different than in US.......

KG 1 is the USA pre K or age four preschool. In the USA they are talking about enforcing mandatory attendace due to the fact that children are expected to read by age 5 in KG or KG 2 as they call it in Dubai. Although I stay at home, my kids started at age 3. I wanted them to be socialized and know more kids in the area. I really believe its all about socialization and not academics at that age. They have fun and learn to so that without mommy and daddy around. Its healthy. However, I will say that no 3 year old needs homework or to be in a 8 hour long school...some parents here want academics and total planned out lessons and that is way too much for a 3 year old. We also have a real issue in the USA with overscheduling young kids. Also a big topic here for debate.....
