Thanks Kathyt - hoping for and looking forward to some great crisp weather too :) Most likely to be staying in Kensignton side of town... with a business event at Oxford Street to attend for 2 days... hope they are not too far away and easy access by the tube. but i do have more days to do farther as well - and any and many more ideas are welcome :)

River cruises are good in any weather, you can go all the way to Greenwich passing the sites on the way. If you have kids go to Hamleys its fab, not like here at all. Harrods is great, but sooooo busy! The doorman said go early on a week day. Waxworks and London Dungeon but beware they scare the Willies out of you in there. Def best thing about London is going to a show. J shepherd - any recommendations for a good broadway show - that was definitely on my list - we were thinking of "Lion King" - any other better suggestions?? I hope there are some good 'genuine' sales out there - how would i know about them ???

Its not that "chilly" though in November and any month can be wet. You are lucky you have one week, we had 4 days and could not see some things: I will divide sights into those you can do on rainy days and those you can enjoy more if it is not rainy Rainy days: British Museum: give at least 3-4 hours Museums in South Kensington: 3-4 hours Harrods Oxford Street shopping Places you can enjoy more when its not rainy Tower of London - ~3 hours Westminster Abbey ~2 hours Walking in the area around Buckingham/Westminster Abey/Big Ben - 2 hours London Eye (personally think it is overpriced for what you get) Tower Bridge Covent Garden HMS Belfast (it is a retired military ship used in WW2, if any of you are interested in that sort of stuff, it is very interesting) ~1 hour If you have a spare 5-6 hours: Windsor Hampton Court Palace Both are a distance away from the centre but are really beautiful; we liked Hampton Court more because of its wonderful gardens The main disadvantage you will face in Nov is not the cold but the short daylight hours, so try to see the outdoor stuff in the day and leave shopping for the night Another note, if you will be there on a Sunday, check all tube closures beforehand, a very crucial line was closed for maintenance during our visit forcing us to change a lot of plans edited by Arch on 09/10/2012 [color=#993399'>[/color'> Thanks so much Arch :) for the detailed info... very useful.... any special eating out places.. not to miss stuff.... i knew i cfould fully depend on EW for a plan outline... u rock gal!

Taxi would be easier... depends on how small your children are... there definitely is a metro stop... but it would add to the long walk to the exhibition hall itself.....we took our car and had to park it at the dedicated parking spots which was also a long walk to the hall...

its at Dubai World Trade Centre at their exhibition halls. The walk there itself is longgg... going with the kids in the metro would be difficult esp. in this heat - best bet is taxi although there are parking areas but a bit far

Modhesh World is fun - my kids seemed to enjoy (both age groups 8 yrs and 3 yrs) there are lots of shows and circus (all free)... many rides / games - for which you pay seperately... arts and craft activities, mascots, old souq etc... only thing is you will need lots of hours (4 was too tight for me) and a panadol at the end of the day !@!@@!

Look at the bottom of the screen when you're logged in, find your username, click on it, click on Posts, then you'll find all of yours - no direct email alert but it's easier than trawling through pages of threads. Thanks Amy :) - i was wondering on alerts as well.. but great tip .....
