Hello everyone, I’m pumping up an old post to seek advice if there is a trusted lipedema surgeon in Dubai. Any advice or update is hugely appreciated. TA

i obviously had the same difficulty as Countess Wrinkle posting the reply! Thank you Oldtimer for sharing your experience. I’m glad your daughter is all well now. The second opinion we sought confirms that DD didn’t progress from 20 degrees to 29 in the span of a month (quite a relief!). He thought both x-rays taken show 23-24 degrees which he considers as a mild case that should be addressed with physiotherapy only and no brace. MRI came back confirming scoliosis but not congenital which is a good thing too. We now feel we should consider more opinions until we decide on the most suitable treatment option. I thank you again ladies for all your well wishes and advices.

Sorry to read your story, very stressful indeed. I can not recommend enough for you to visit Dr Anna Zickerman at Up and Running Wellness Sports Clinic, Dubai. Dr Anna is an extremely experienced and highly qualified doctor who specialises in all things sports medicine. She will advise you as to how best to proceed and who is the very best to see regarding your daughters condition. Personally, I would nver use anyone else and a quick search on here will show you how well recommended the clinic is. You will reqauire a medical doctor to sign off on an MRI not a chiro. Wishing you all the best, please do book and appointment for a second or third opinion. Many thanks for your advice! I will call Dr Anna’s clinic in the morning. We’ve done the MRI waiting for the results, meanwhile seeking second and third opinions to decide the most suitable treatment(s). All is very overwhelming to us as you can imagine, especially that she is very active swimmer and gymnast! Your thoughts, prayers and advices are highly appreciated. Thank you ?

Morning ladies, We went to see Dr Marc Sinclair and he said DD has Idiopathic Scoliosis just under 30 degrees. We were absolutely overwhelmed as he said she must have an MRI, 2-3 times physiotherapy a week and must wear a specially designed brace. All at the same time! Two months ago her Pediatrician, after an x-ray on my request, said she's fine and just at 20 degrees curve so just monitor for now but I wanted to make sure that his diagnosis was accurate. Now I'm very confused and absolutely overwhelmed and considering a second opinion before we let DD undergo all that at once. I would highly appreciate any recommendation for another specialist here in Dubai, any experiences, if you had it how you went about it at this early stage? Many thanks in advance!! Bumping up this thread. I'm desperate for any advice from mums who went through similar experience ?

Thanks Cheeky Monkey. That is very helpful as I wasn't really sure about the flowers. I will go for the donation once I know which charity they'll choose.

Hi, My boss's wife died and they're based in the UK. I would like to send flowers perhaps? any suggestions for a reliable website to deliver? send to funeral house or home? any better ideas than flowers? My husband and I met her a couple of times over dinners, so I would like to add a personal touch but not push it too much. Any suggestions? TIA

Hi Marti I had my initial appointment with Dr Sobeh yesterday & when I called today to take an appointment for a scan, they told me that it's not him who conducts the scans in his clinic. it's another Dr Becky(?).. Was your scan performed by him or the other DR? I'm concerned because I thought it should be him personally doing the scan so he can take notes and know where exactly he should operate instead of relaying on another doctor's report?? Confused :(

Actually Calpol 6+ was pescribed to my DD when she was only 3 yrs old by her paed as she has an bad fever! Maybe that's why you have this bottle in your house. It was prescribed! I was concerned myself when she was prescribed this medicine but the doctor promised me she will be fine and I then took her for a second opinion & it was the same feedback. It's OK and nothing to worry about. Hope this helps

I have the same case now with the LL as he wants to move back to his property while we've been in it for only 6 months. The thing that we have (I hope it won't be an issue) is that the LL ignored our request to register the contract with RERA when we requested. Anyways, we told him that we are not intending to move out this year & if he wishes us out, he should pay us a compensation as will entail the moveing out cost, agency fees.. etc. Hope law is on our side too, fingers crossed!

Hi Marti, Just curious if you have seen Dr Sobeh already? any positive feedback? I booked an appointment with him towards end of this month for a second opnion & would be happy to have a feedback if you would like to share? I had a consultation & Doppler with Dr Ashkan from Dubai Mall clinic who think I should have both legs treated by laser ASAP :(

Oh I did & it seems it's normal on DD's part to be afraid but with good support and encouraging words it should ease. I'm doing this with DD but the woman there isn't and DD can feel this & doesn't like the woman since day 1 when the woman reacted to DD's crying by saying "OK, you need to stop her from crying & I can't deal with her crying like that".. so unprofessional I thought!

Piggle, DD is in beginners class & I'm Always there in the water with her. It's just that I feel that the woman doesn't want to deal with DD if she cries or afraid to try a new move & would only relay on me to do what the rest of the class is doing. I don't think they're doing what I've paid them to do. I just feel sorry for my DD who is not enjoying her time there at all!

you're right. I should ask the other lady to help. It's just that I'm always very sensitive about people's feeling even if they don't do their part of the deal ! I should overcome this I think, so from now until next Sat I should choose my words and speak up. Many Thanks for your help. Oreo, I will check Super Sport out if the classes we're enroled in now don't work out.

Thanks for your reply Faifunghi. I heard that it's also Active Sport who hold swimming classes in Hayya club too? There is another lady who seems to have her way with the other kids in the class. Both ladies train 4-5 children each in the beginners class & I noticed that children with the other lady stopped crying after lesson 2 and are more comfortable in water & responding to make some moves under water, the problem is that I don't know how to ask the other lady to take my DD in while the one we have now is standing there watching! Arrrg..

Typical international school's attittude of not addressing their incapability to teach proper Arabic! it's a shame! Living in an Arab country, I think it's very good for children to pick up the local spoken language & I agree with KHDA's measures taken to enhance Arabic education in schools. I'm sorry I cannot offer you advice but wishing you good luck in your quest :)

Heriot-Watt University has a branch in Dubai Academic City & offers a lot of degrees in Business and others by distance learning too, where you can sit the exam in Dubai. My friend studies an MBA there partly on-campus and mainly by distance learning. Their website is www.hw.ac.uk
