The poor wee thing, he doesn't need to be showered daily. I would say once every three months with proper shampoo. I wonder why they think he needs showered every day. Obviously they don't have a clue!!

mine is around SalsB figure also...I thought it was low as we need to be in a villa and you cannot get much for family of 5 for under 220k we're on ranches in a villa big enough for 5 and we're paying 135 or 140 (can't remember lol) We pay 130k for a 2bed in the Marina, shocking really. Last year it was 140k. yes but look at your location Sal, if we didn't have the boys i'd love to live there, i think it's fab. Sue, You are right, and I do love living here. x

I cant say how much my DH gets, but its twice as much as your allowance So you *can* say - it's around 200k to 240k :) (assuming you're referring to GEA1984's original post) edited by edna.welthorpe on 20/12/2011 Yes I can say its around the figure you said Edna. ;)

Feline friends has persian's in at the moment, they expect new owners to have them sterilized once they become of age. Please bare in mind they can be hard work, with grooming etc, I have a lovely persian boy I adopted from FF 3 years ago, and also have another persian, one has a long term medical condition and vet fees are expensive, so think very carefully, also they have sensitive tummys, so whiskers just wont fit them bill.

The Embassy here now has nothing to do with passports, they are all sent to Germany. You send your passport to Germany, but it is printed in the UK. <em>edited by salsB on 20/12/2011</em>

Recently I holidayed in Sri Lanka and meet a really lovely man who has a 11 year old son, we have decided to sponsor him thru his education. I have bought some school items and searching for a re-conditioned laptop, so a nice parcel will be on it's way to him.

Ive had a cleaner in once, never had a maid, even thou have considered it now and again. I was recently in Sri Lanka and we had a housekeeper, a really lovey fella, I would have him over here in a shot, absolutely brilliant. He earns such a low wage, and he would do anything for us, we were spoilt rotten. Based on what I have read over the last 3 years, most maids are not people to be trusted, all you poor souls have been robbed, taken advantage off. They will never go to heaven!!!

Oh Salsb, sorry to hear you were so sick. Going home tomorrow night. My grandson has chicken pox poor little man. Thank God Ive had it. But his brother & sister havent. It cost me 60p for a can of diet pepsi, the small bottles are 1.79p each. I found the UK so more expensive, 3 kit kats and a loaf was 3.40, not that I buy choc bars alot. Money just ran thru my fingers like water.

I also brought back xmas cards and pressies for friends, also a pedicure set for another Ew'er, had to leave new clothes behind, run out of space, DD is going home in January so she can bring back what I have left. I was home for 10 days and was in bed for 9 of them with flu. Be aware for If you are heading back be prepared loads of bugs and virus, had the most awful time ever!!!!! <em>edited by salsB on 13/12/2011</em>

To the UK or from the UK? The strangest thing to the UK was when my brother was here recently on a business trip and bought back a huge container of Ravi's Dhal for a friend who begged him to ( they both lived here in the 80's early 90's and Ravi's was a regular feature) I bought the largest tupperware container I could find, Ravi's filled it with Dhal, and then we selaed it up with duct tape and several layers of plastic bags - it stayed intact but his suitcase reeked to high heaven - his friend was delighted though. :) I took a gold necklace backk from Dubs to UK, and brought back the hottest curry you can get. lol,

My OH hardly spoke to me yesterday when we were flying back from holiday, in the end I said "whats your problem" he answered nothing. I tried to chat on the initial 3 hour taxi journey to no avail, didnt chat on the plane!!!!! I just give up, so glad im heading back home tomorrow, need a complete break, does my head in seriously!!! lol

I am shocked by the amount of visitors people have here. Perhaps this is showing off to friends and family that you are loaded if you can have guests non stop...maybe? Anyway, it is so disruptive to the children, who have to go to school everyday, to have a constant stream of guests through the house. Why do people feel obliged to say YES to guests coming over? That said, if any guests stay in our house (it would only be family or very very dear friends) then we always pay for everything, just our way. Most of my guests have be family, unfortunately I cant not invite them back as one person is MIL. As for showing off, deff not!!!!!!!

Most visitors that come and stay, never open their purse / wallet. The assume we pay for everything. I have never had to brag about living in Dubs, when I am home, I don't talk about living here, yes we do earn a bit more money compared to home, but not enough to retire. Dubai is advertised as a place for the rich, everyone must assume we are part of that group.... Hubby knocks his pan in, they never see him coming home completed soaked thru from the heat, the long hours he does, and how exhausting and draining his job can be!!!!!!

I really haven't had any probs, BUT !!!!!!!!!! the air con hasn't been on all year, we have mould on the ceilings outside our apartments, and yes I hae killed a couple cock roach's!!!!!!!!!!! and we live in a brilliant building. <em>edited by salsB on 14/11/2011</em>

I actually contacted Ejari about this and it is the tenant's responsibility to pay not the Landlord but I was asked for less than 200AED for it. Who is Ejari!!!! never heard of them.
