We haven't had it done yet but as it will apparently become a part of the visa residence renewal process, as far as I've understood, no doubt we will pay for it. Don't think the maid will have much use for the ID except for having the residence visa done. My miad syas the police stop the buses and ask people for their ids. I guess they are asking for passport or labour card. Deadline for ID card has been extended to 2013 for expats and will be linked to the visa renewal process so it is perfectly legal not to be in possession of the Emirates ID as of yet but by 2013 all should have it. I thought it has only been extended till June this year, can I ask you where does it say expiry 2013!!! thanks

Feline Friends were able to rehome 38 cats in December, even thou Xmas was very quiet, the 38 has now been replaced with other cats found. As I have been helping FF out over the last few weeks, I can see the hard work that is put in with the Fosterer's, and all the team who are so passionate it finding loving ever homes for the kittens and Cats. Please try and come along to the open day this Saturday, we have lots of lovely Fur Friends waiting to go to their new homes.

Thanks Mulberry. getting husband to treat me for my birthday:) he doesn't know yet :0:0 Want to go march 28th DXB/DXB 12 nights stopping off in Mumbai, Cochin, Goa and Oman. Is there any good points to splashing out on a suite? or anyway of getting an upgrade. My husband is 65 and I'm a little younger but never ever done a cruise so I thought this was a good taster. I like good things but do not want to waste money unnessesarily on a suite if the outside cabins with balcony are just as good. Also in India what would you recommend seeing? Thank you; getting excited now!!!! Funny I was looking at the same cruise for 28th March, looks good doesnt it. Cant go as DH cant get the time of work, boohoo

The school is now moving the goal posts for this term, children cant be late either. As for children that have to take time away for appointments I think the system is alittle unfair.

I dont want to burst you bubble, but be prepared as it could well be a dry night!!!! Best ring and ask the hotels before booking. Have a wonderful night anyway, Its our 23rd Anniversary in June and was thinking about doing something special too. The romanitc night seems lovely, may look into it.

My GD is only 6, he school had this incentive, If they kids complete 2 terms with 100% attendance they get to go out on a afternoon to the cinema, this took place last Thursday. All the kids were so excited, but my problem is why didnt the teachers plan ahead and ask parents for a bit of money to get the low sugar drinks, a little bag of fruit for them to have a munch on. All the Kids sat thru the film with nothing, I think its a little bit cruel to be honest. Your thoughts!!!!!!

Ive done afew cruises, really love them, Its so lovely to be pampered, the food is always been excellent. Would love to do one from Dubai sometime. Im sure in times to come I will holiday again on the seas.

Sals she may have done this to get a shoot out! Maybe you are all getting on too well (you did say that you and dd are getting on better than ever) and she feels left out and ignored and she wants to stir. In that case the best thing would be to compleetely ignore her. If she brings up the subject just say you are all happy to respect her wishes. Ive known my MIL for over 30 years, there isnt nothing she can do to surprise me, I just think Ive become to tired of her bad behavious, she can stick her personal belonging where the sun dont shine. Life is far to short, and after spending 18 days with her in December, I really thought I was having a break down. As life is flowing quite nicely along for us now, I think she is jealous, and she has done this to get a reaction. Ive decided Im not taking the bait.

Oh dear, SalsB, what a very sad situation.......and it's not new is it, nor is it about a will and a few bits of jewellery.....obviously your MIL has never accepted your DD as "her" grand daughter, and is yet again reminding you of that fact. She is obviously a nasty, narrow minded and bitter woman, but you must know that is never going to change,your poor DD probably knows this already, and you should just remind her of the fact that she is YOUR beloved child. Your DH should have manned up years ago, and told his old bat of a mother that you and your DD were a package, and she had better accept that, or butt out of his life........but honestly, just face facts, nothing any of you do now is going to change the situation. Personally, I would not have told your DD, she's probably had enough hurt from that dpeartment already, but what's done is done. At the end of the day, this woman is no relative of your girl's, and she should be grateful for that. As and when the bequest arrives, your youngest DD will know what to do with it.........in the meantime, none of you should waste any time, effort or breath on a miserable old cow, who has no real concept of true love or affection, and that is both her tragedy and her punishment. LT great post, DH only know half of it, never really shared everything in respect to his mum, I always wanted to rise above her. DH knows what his mum is all about, didnt want to rub it in, and as he is so different to his mum, I have always weathered her thru life, but the time has come, I feel there is going to be a shoot out!!!!!!!!

I do think MIL has now added the last nail to the coffin when it comes to the eldest, It would take me forever and a day to explain everything that has happened. My DH loves and adores the eldest, she never had any contact with her biological family, she was very close to my mum and not with MIL due to her wicked ways. I really cant understand why anyone would want to reject a little girl now grown up into a 27yr old mum here self. By all means a will is a will and I and eldest DD wouldnt ever try to overturn one, its more to do with the emotional side of things and this is where my eldest DD is hurt, we spoke on the phone today and she said really feels there is no going back, she has tried to be friends with MIL and she now knows all her efforts have been a complete waste of time, and she will move on without MIL in her life. MIL has no interest in the 3 children, so now its shifted to the next generation. Personally I know blood is thicker than water, but me personally I could never treat a child like the way my MIL has treated my girl.

Hope your daughters are intelligent enough to share and understand that both are equal. But anyway I would ask her why she is not treating them the same way. Im going home in 2 weeks and I will speak to MIL, cant really do this on the phone, my Eldest daughter really isnt interested in anything MIL has, I just think she is hurt and has always felt excluded when it came to he youngest.

I didnt go out my way to tell eldest all this, DD has had some difficult times and its only been the last year where she has come thru and we have become very close. I dont believe in hiding things from my kids, and I really didnt want DD to be bitter once her step grand mother passes. I understand being a step daughter etc can be a difficult hide and always believe honesty is the way forward.

I cant believe that MIL created two wonderful son's, When DH took me out last night I happened to mentioned what his mum had said, he just looked at me with his little cow eyes, I did say its no one's fault, and after our conversation all he said was " why do you think I left home at 16" that said it all.

Ive told eldest daughter, she has now delete MIL off facebook, my eldest DD isnt her biological GD, My DH treats both the girls and spoils them equally. Eldest DD is hurt. Very hurt. I think its the icing on the cake all she got to xmas was 2 pairs of socks, did have MIL here in Dec for 18days and she said she has money for her, and was planning on giving it to eldest DD when she came to pick up the freebee cigarettes I got her, MIL gave her nothing. Im in Dubai but as an expat it can be scary, how sad you wont see DH for 6 weeks, can you try and visit him inbetween. There will be plenty of advise coming your way, just ask. Obviously I dont have a clue about Doha, has 3 friends moved there recently, im sure they may help.

Never been there, must try it. DH and I went to Thyme, they do a nice roast, Ive tried many brunches I have loads of favourites, sometimes its so hard to choose. Oooh, Sals B, do tell, I'm looking for good places for when my best friend comes over end Feb - would love to be by the sea with bubbles or c*cktails (put my own punctuation in)!! Im not sure if Thyme will be the place to take your friend, we go there as they food is nice and I love my meat and 2 veg, we just in and rush our after our quick fix. The Al Marooj Rotana by Dubai Mall is lovely, sitting out on the terrace, al Inc 199 each, and you can always pop down to Double deckers for a boogie. Saffron at Atlantic is really lovely, well worth taking your friend there. You can then head to the pool party afterwards, lol.

There is a product back home that is brilliant, spray the oven and put the racks into a bag, leave to 3-5 hours, no scrubbing, come out brand new, I think its called Oven Pride, I swear by it, will bring some back with me.
