Donating used/old make-up? Surely that's not very hygienic. Make-up has use by dates and should be binned. Can't people donate new products? I don't think I've ever seen a use by date on make-up (and I have rooms full of the stuff!). Am I blind or just not looking in the right place? It probably should be thrown out after a while, but I must confess to still using 10 year old make-up to no ill harm at all. Mascara is one product (because of it being both liquid and being used so close to the eyes) that definitely should be replaced after 6 months and stops being so good sooner than that as it dries out. Lipsticks and lipgloss do, eventually, go off but you can tell as their consistency or smell changes and lipsticks can last for many, many years. Other than that, most powder make-up seems to last for ages. Am I taking a great risk by using make-up beyond a certain time limit? Mascara should be changed after 6 weeks, especially for those with sensitive eyes.

This morning (09/22) at around 10:30AM, Baby was in a red & black 'jeep' stroller. Your caregiver was ignoring your child who was crying rather loudly. Your caregiver was engrossed in conversation with another caregiver. When i looked, she aggressively 'shushed' the child. Baby continued to cry... I would've told her something..unfortunately this happens quite often...the JBR plaza has become a meeting place for nannies/maids to engage in conversations rather then play with the children..but am sure its no surprise to the moms..

We also had some lightweight down duvets from ikea and they are great. According to the catalogue they are still available i would never buy a synthetic duvet so was surprised to read they were not selling down duvets anymore as i recently bought new ones but in spain. Ive checked the catalogue for uae and there are plenty of down duvets for sale. This is the one we had - lightweight and perfect for the dubai hot nights http://www.ikea.com/ae/en/catalog/products/90131445/ I was there last month and that's what i was told...i also was surprised because i bought one 5 years ago from there...i know other countries still have it though.

Where do you recommend for quilts/comforters? (Not ikea)..I have 1 lovely one bought in India..Just the right weight for this weather ..didn't come with any matching sheets but lovely. Any recommendation? Just wondering why not Ikea? I have a couple of summer weight ones from there and they have lasted well though 2 years of use and dry cleaning, still as good as new and very comfortable to use. Ikea only sells synthetic ones...they stopped selling down duvets/pillows a while back!

Has anyone heard about the make up box that is delivered to your door on a monthly basis. It has all the well known brands and I believe that you sign up to join, pay a small fee and give feedback on the products. Not sure what they call it as my friends mentioned it to me and as I don't wear a lot of make up thought that it wasn't for me. I could find out what the name of the company is though if anyone is interested. I think its called Glam box...it contains a few samples (deluxe size) of skin care, makeup... from various high end brands.

Actually, that again is a generalisation. I've sold beauty products and all sorts of other things that I had little to no experience in. I was paid minimum wage and received no commission, but I worked hard and was always polite and found out about the products I was working with because There was little else for me to do, And because That was my job. Touche!!.Good point :)

They can also never tell you when they will get things that are out of stock, back in stock! Helpful, how many sales they must lose with useless salespersons! has anyone noticed stores, esp in Mercato suddenly recruiting or having sales staff over from the UK to show the UAE staff how it is done!! It has been quite amusing to watch! Useless salespersons?? That's a bit harsh, don't you think...they are doing their best with the tools they have been given..Most of these Beauty consultants have other degrees/diplomas and aren't working in their field, they are like you and me trying to make a living..You seem to think that sales staff in the western countries are "better" well that's simply not true.. ..you cannot generalize like that... I dont understand why people have to complain and bash people in this country..It is what it is!! You are entitled to your opinion as we are however, i have yet to find a decent sales person in all the years that i have lived here. You get pounced on as soon as you walk in to the store or stalked round it. If you ask for something and it is out of stock they never advise they will call another store etc. Personally speaking (And i am not saying i am better than anyone regardless of where they are from) However the customer service in this part of the world is awful and needs to be address by the owners etc The difference is that these beauty consultants are not passionate about cosmetics, they are not doing it by choice...at the end of the day its a job for them...of course i know that its not an excuse and giving good customer service is important, but obviously in other countries (US/UK) the consultants have actually gone to beauty school and therefore know more about the industry..there is a lot of turnover here, and i think that some cies just dont want to invest in proper training...shame..

First of all, sorry, because this is not what you want to hear.... I've said it before and I'll say it again.........how can you possibly start a business in something you have no experience whatsoever in? You need to be an expert and be 100% passionate 24/7 about it. I do hope you find somebody and I wish you success, but maybe you need to look for something else. Especially in childcare...

As long as you use water based non toxic paint..the paints that buildings usually use here are industrial oil based and very toxic, so I would recommend you buy your own paint; ace hardware and delux have none toxic paint, more expensive but obviously worth it..I would also suggest you spend the night somewhere else, just in case..
