Hi, I was wondering if anyone knew of any technicians that can fix dishwashers without charging call out charges. My siemens dishwasher is now out of warranty and I had to call Siemens directly. They've told me there is a 200 dhs call out charge and then they'll be extra charges for any parts and labour :( How have any of you tackled out of warranty home appliances, in a cost effective way?. Any of the decent ones no. I was calling around for my Siemens Washing machine and everyone had a 150-200 call out fee

Hi , my daughter is at St Christophers at the moment, so yes a British school and I am aware the costs of schooling. It's all the other costs I'm a bit confused at. Housing costs, Derwa, road tolls . Bahrain is I know much cheaper as a place to live for accommodation, school cost are similar. We live in an Appartment in Bahrain which includes wifi, water , ac etc. is there anything else cost wise I should be aware of. Thank you Horizon Mum2 Housing costs are 5% of your total annual rent paid monthly Salik ( Road tolls) are AED4 each time you pass under them however you can avoid them depending upon where you work and live. WIFI is slow and expensive I pay AED350 ( No TV as I use Netflix etc) for 16MB. DEWA I cannot advise on but expect to pay more than AED500 Where will your Husband job be located as if it is Jebel Ali side etc you wont want to live in Sharjah as he will be sitting in traffic for a long time Propertyfinder.ae Justrentals.com They can give you an estimate of costs. Deposit is 5% of rent and an agents fee of 5% if they help you find one. DEWA set up deposit is AED2000 for an apartment and AED4000 for a villa plus Ejari which everyone is supposed to have now AED195.

Hi all, I have got a tempting job offer from doha. I would like to get an honest opinion on if it is realistic to think that I will be able to settle in with my nine year old daughter and two dogs. I have been living abroad for 30 years, but obviously not in the middle east...are there other single moms out there or am I going to be completely out of place? I´ll appreciate your sincere statements...the truth won´t hurt. How much is the offer? Will they provide housing/schooling/medical and flight for family I have a couple of single Mum friends in Dubai and they have a grand time here, they have lots of other married/single/Kids and no kid friends. I think it is far easier to meet people in the Middle East than it is at home as we are all in the same boat

I need advice ladies! Which is better in your experience Wild Wadi OR Atlantis Aquaventure? Also, does anyone know the prices for both for UAE residents? TIA! I prefer Atlantis as it is huge, you can use the beach and the rides are better EID card holders pay 185 I do not know about Wild Wadi prices but if you call Jumeriah they will tell you, or check their website

Have you tried adjusting the angle of the vents? Sometimes that can help...... I would also recommend making the room really cold before bed and then keeping the ac on low fan and a temp like 23 or 24 during the night I had to partially close the vents as couldn't move the bed This does help

Where can I get fuller cup bra sized swimwear? I am after E or F cup size, underwired and not padded. TIA :) Bare Essentials go up to G and they are in the Jumeriah Centre on Beach Road I have bought E cups from Debenhams but they are a bit hit and miss on the bigger sizes Nextdirect.ae go up to higher sizes on their bikinis too and are cheaper than the ones myself and the other posted recommended They deliver to the UAE within 3 days and delivery is free if you spend over AED120 I find their sizes are the same as bras from M and S and Debenhams http://ae.nextdirect.com/en/g312176s3#386595

ADCB is the worst bank ever. they are very rude on the phone and their rates are always fishy. they sell you products of privilege or excellency and you end up paying lots of money and treated very badly. they are the worst. Are you resurrecting old threads just to slag companies off You do know you need to be very careful slandering companies

Thanks ladies. Would you do this before or after your facial? And how many days? I don't need a facial after my glycolic peel as that brightens the face enough for me I use Jan Marini and Dermologica products at home afterwards Just make sure if you go for a glycolic peel that they test a skin patch first as every persons skin is different. I can use this but not a strong peel as I have very sensitive/prone to red skin If you want both, peel first then a week later facial however as I said you may not need the facial

Just had a look at "Buy it, Sell it , Swap it Dubai" on Facebook and it is a Closed Group. Does that mean one cannot use it? Nothing comes up on it to even see items for sale - seems to limit its purpose if not everyone/anyone can see things for sale? You have to request to join there is a button to press this part way down the page

I am in desperate need of a facial. I checked Essa's website in JLT, but there isn't a treatment menu for the facials and no price list, I heard good reviews, does anyone know the cost and which treatment that is good? I am also looking for other recommendations. Have you called them and asked? They also have a FB page. Just really rubbish website, prices for pedicures etc, but not the facials. Facebook page doesn't have information either...I posted when they weren't open, maybe someone on here knew, anyway will phone today... It depends on which facial you want ( Skin type/products etc) I am a fan of Dermologica and was using the age smart but find the ultra calming one better I havent been there for a long time as i use the stuff at home and do my own. If my memory serves me correctly i paid around AED300

Hi, we are relocating from Scotland after the summer. I have a 9 and 11 year old. Looking at the English system (different to Scotland) I think they will be going into year 5 and year 7 (September birthdays) from p5 and p7 in Scotland (very confusing). Can anyone confirm this and have opinion about swapping from Scottish to English curriculum? Secondly the three schools I have shortlisted (for various reasons) are: GEMS Wellington International GEMS Wellington silicon oasis JESS Arabian Ranches. Again, any opinions?? Thanks in anticipation, I am sure many of the Mums will come along and offer some advice If you use the search post above and put the names of the schools in it will bring back some threads on this I have friends whose kids are at JESS and they are very happy there . I believe JESS is the only non profit school out of your list and it isn't the easiest for them to get into a the waiting lists can be very long

You do NOT need to live apart for five years. I have only officially been apart for a year. My ex is refusing to divorce but my solicitor reckons it will be done by Dec....I am actioning this on grounds of unreasonable behaviour. Yes - there are grounds for "quicker" divorces including adultery but these would be different cases from this one as described ( the husband presumably would have to prove Mrs N had "unreasonable behaviour" etc which might be difficult). She could divorce HIM for adultery with ;proof quite quickly too if she wanted, of course. Sorry for any confusion. Adultery is very very difficult to prove. My friend had photographs from a private detective and emails between her Husband and his bit on the side ( Emails were admissible in court but now aren't) and it still took years for them to divorce due to the financial settlements for her and her Daughter

I've searched high and low for my Emirates membership card/ E- gate card to no avail. I'm pretty sure I've put it somewhere safe in the house (so safe I can't find it!) but could really do with it as travelling soon and my passport is almost full so I don't want anymore stamps. Does anyone know the latest procedure for getting it replaced? Do I still have to get a police report???? So cross with myself!!! Thanks in advance Go and see the ladies at the office on SZR I lost mine last year and they renewed it without a police report. I didn't tell them that I had lost it I just went in asking for a renewal. They were really nice and quick

I imagine most men don't care if it is illegal as if their Spouse reports them then they have will receive income from him. Its a catch 22. situation OP you need to think of yourself and the children that is the most important thing and I wish you luck The same thing happened to me many years ago however I didn't have any children to think of so it was a little easier.

Please see a lawyer. If you go back to the Uk and he earns his money here, you will not be able to get a financial support if he refuses to pay. Correct me if I am wrong, but I have heard it from different people. You are correct , it took my friend 7 years to get what she was owed She lived in the UK and he lived here. It was a mess! The UK cannot force him to pay anything if he were here and you were there

What is body brush? But I agree about the other stuff - waste of money. Cut out white starchy foods and anything baked. Drink loads of water. Run stairs. You use a dry brush ( I got mine from the body shop) it helps get rid of dry skin, keep the skin circulated and makes it look brighter :-)

Hi all, I've started exercising but as a kickstart I'd also like to try either LPG, velasmooth or Hypoxi. I've tried to research on this and the pros and cons of each one - but thought I'd reach out and see if anyone has any information they can share on why they might have chosen to do one over the other and their experiences, and what salons to possibly avoid. thanks :) I have tried 2 of them in the past and to be honest they are a complete waste of money, nothing but a gimmick Velashape and LPG will not get rid of fat or cellulite. It may look slightly better after they do it but it goes back to normal within an hour of the treatment The only way I found to help it was too avoid certain foods, drink loads of water, exercise, eat healthy and body brush. Don't waste your money as it is expensive here too

My 16 year old is going to the US on his own for a month and will need to purchase textbooks, academic supplies etc. as well as having incidental expenses. I would also like him to have some money provision in case of travel emergencies and needing to purchase another ticket if he misses his flight! I don't want him to be responsible for huge amounts of cash in shared college accommodation with no safe facilities though. Any suggestions what the best way of sorting out money for him would be? He 's going to be restricted to the campus so it might be difficult for him to get travellers' cheques cashed at a bank and our bank won't offer him a credit card because of his age. Thanks for any advice or suggestions. I used to bank with RAK bank and they had a bling card where you could load them with cash and give them to family members. Perhaps your bank has something like this. They are usually Cirrus cards so can be used all over the world https://rakbank.ae/wps/portal/retail-banking/cards/prepaid-cards

If there is a weight limit of 2kg per person for fruit and veg then 8-10 may exceed this as I think they weigh around 400-500g each. Why doesn't she just buy them in the UK? - they have been available there for over 50 years I imagine they would be cheaper in the UK too http://www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=253554982

Do we need to get our marriage certificate attested in Italy? We have had it translated into English so that my name could legally be changed on my passport. Or do we only need to have it attested by the UAE in Uk. Any advise welcome. Thanks Italy and UAE

Hi everyone, My husband, kid of 2,5 and I arrived here on 28th of March for my husbands new job. We came from Holland on a tourist visa because the visa was declined, without given reason. Now we can't rent any long term place because you have to have a residence visa to do so. The visa is again rejected without reason so we still don't know if we can stay for sure. Until then we need a place to stay. At this moment we stay in a hotel apartment in media city but this Saturday we have to check out. We can't afford staying longer in a hotel(apartment). So I was wondering if anyone knew a place or person we can approach for short term, payable rent, let's say a month or two??? Dubizzle, propertyfinder, Airbnb and hbhousinng are one of the few websites we've desperately chearched on every whole day? You would help us a lot! Since we dont want to hop from hotel to hotel with a small kid and a lot of suitcases? Thanks a lot! There are lots of hotel apartments close to Media City such as the Gloria Hotel and Yassat Hotel they do short term lets. Failing that Google short term lets Dubai

Casa is part of Arabian Ranches 2. Whilst Arabian Ranches 2 is much smaller than Ranches 1, the upside is that the community centre is withing walking distance of all the communities, Moreover, the residents club is due to open later this month or early next month. I don't know much about the other communities so can't help you there. However, you can read reviews on flatreviews.com. They have tons of info on most communities in Dubai. Arabian Ranches is a great community, polo club, golf club, shops, restaurants VH is also lovely too but I don't think there are any restaurants within walking distances. JVC is new and doesn't have a huge amount there at present

Hi ladies, sometimes internet searches seem to confuse things as there's misleading info everywhere, so I hope you don't mind me asking. Microgynon 30 seems to be allowed into Dubai (I visited once with no problem) but is there a limit on how much I can bring with me? Ideally I'd like to bring a years supply with me when I move over there, would this be allowed? When I first moved to Dubai I brought a years supply of Ovranette as it wasn't available here

Hi ladies, I am new to expat woman and hope I am posting this in the right place. I am a teacher who is hoping to move to Dubai hopefully for this September or next. I wanted to ask: 1) Is it too late to apply for jobs now for September 2016 for a family visa and accommodation, or do jobs become available because some people back out of move? 2) Should I send my CV and covering letter to schools even though they don't have jobs advertised at present? 3) Which of the good schools ( Jess, dess, Kings, japs, jps, wis) offer free schooling for dependants? Thank you in advance for all your advice ? Many teachers give notice or change jobs at the end of term so I would apply regardless I don't know if any schools give "free places" but believe schools give a good discounts for teachers children

Hello, My husband and i are looking for a mature, native English speaking, qualified nanny to look after our son- 2.5 yrs- on a part time basis. I work from home and have a childminder around him most mornings but would like to have him looked after by someone who will engage in activities that would lead to a healthy development (physically and intellectually), go on outings with us and wouldn't mind travelling if needed with the family. The ideal candidate would be gentle yet firm, preferably with a primary teaching background, non-smoker and a swimmer. We speak Arabic, English and a bit of French with our son so any knowledge of French or Arabic at this point is a bonus but not imperative. Flexibility with working hours and days is also a plus. Working hours: Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from 9am-1pm. We might require the nanny to complete the week with us depending on availability. Salary: AED 1,150 pw. Salary will be paid on the first Monday after a completed week. Transportation: We have a driver who can pick up the nanny and drop her off from any of the following locations: KCA, MBZ, Al Reef, Al Raha, Al Zeina, Al Muneera, Al Bandar, Bain Al Jesrain. Starting Date: Can wait for the right candidate Contract: Part-time for long term. In September our son will start nursery so working hours would shift to early evening. Please reply to this post if interested. Part time maids have to come from an agency or be sponsored by you Governesses/Nannies don't really exist here so I doubt you will find one.

you can buy the depo at a pharmacy (no prescription....) for 12.50. you can call up your clinic and have the nurse inject you - mine did it for free. a word to the wise: depo definitely is not for everyone - and if you're thinking of conceiving after coming off depo, keep in mind it could take anywhere from 6 months to 2 years for your body to return to pre-depo condition (fertility wise) while it is SUPER annoying, take the birth control pill if you can (i hate it, cuz i can never remember it) or opt for an IUD. good luck. Thank you for the above I shall tell my friend. Which pharmacy do you buy it from?
