A very Close acquaintance of mine has been laid off from work just yesterday among few others from her office. The boss has been good enough and told her to take these 15 days to look for work but will be paid the whole months salary. She has over 9 years experiance in the Accounts Department. Visa is sponsered by a family member. It will be really helpful of you all if you could kindly provide some links, tips or vacancies in Accounts/Payroll, HR, Admin you might know about, where she may apply. It'll be of immense help. Oh here's another one. Hubby has a wardrobe with shelves and about 200 t shirts. The maid irons them all and stacks them neatly. Without fail, hubby rummages around for the one he wants (usually something ghastly, more of that later) and creates a huge mess from the neat stack. So when I go in there to put his stuff away it is a disgusting mess! Drives me insane! I soo wish hubby was a snappy dresser or a "reet Bobby Dazzler" as he calls it, but he loves nothing more than wearing what he calls "chav pants" (tracksuit bottoms) from Asda, a nasty t-shirt that says something like "Drink sensibly, don't spill it", most of them have holes and are just awful. I have tried buying smart shorts, deck shoes and polos but he resorts to the awful stuff, whyyyy?? Bobby Dazzler that made me chuckle. I have not heard that in years!

Hope everything is fine. As for me, i am totally confused about my situation right now. I am a housemaid, who is currently working on an Indian sponsor( who is currently working as a senior VP of an insurance company). Here is my situation. My servant visa expired March 20,2013. As of now, April 16,2013. They didn't cancel my visa and my passport is with them. I only have my labour card and my emirates ID. I was waiting for them to cancel me but it seems the sponsor has a problem of canceling me coz they just told me that he has an absconding case and his visa expired already March 4,2013. So, i want to know if its fine if i will just ask them my passport and book my own ticket and go back to my country? or should i wait for them to cancel me? i keep on asking for updates but they just said to wait and im totally scared. what shall I do? Any good advice for me? Please! Thanks in advance... Call immigration

Does anyone have a carpark they would be interested in renting on a monthly basis, either Links or Fairways Towers? It is so difficult to park in the Greens and if you have a one bed you only get one space, two spaces for a 3 bed :-( There are so many empty ones in my building that could be utilised

This seems very homegrown, but that's just my opinion. A bomb in a trash can seems somewhat small for terrorism. I could be way off though. 2 bombs and others did not detonate. A child killed what is the world coming too :-( The IRA let one off in a bin in Warrington UK if my memory serves me correctly edited by sarahlou123 on 16/04/2013

Hi All, Our nanny is not going home for the summer, which I am perfectly fine with! I have already given her cash in lieu for her return ticket to the phillipines ( including bus fare etc to reach the hometown) Am I also suppose to give her an extra months salary? Which means 13 salaries a year ? This is the first time I've been in situation of this sort, any suggestions would be appreciated! Thanks Nids10 Some people give an extra months salary at time of her holiday however it is not law

Hi All I know this has been done before, by OH is changing jobs at the beginning of May and I wanted to check to see what the deal would be. His company WILL, already advised him, that they will tell HSBC that he is leaving the company, will the bank freeze his account until his new salary comes in? How does it work? Any help / advice appreciated? TIA Does he have any outstanding finance with HSBC? If not can he get a letter from his new employer to take down there to give to them? Alot of people do that and the bank account remains open

I started my new job a month ago and my work said they will sort my visa. This has still not been sent off as of yet but they are looking to sort. My husband has since secured a job and I have been told by a few people to go on his visa. How does this work? Do we have to pay for it? How long would it take? Would it be cheeky for my husband to ask his work to put me on his visa? All advice welcomed :) It is illegal for you to be working without a visa or labor card and the company who are employing you know this. They should not of employed you without a labor card Most married ladies are on their Husbands visa and it takes only up to 2 weeks to go onto this You would have to pay to go onto his visa however i do not think it is very expensive Your company would then only have to apply for your labor card which is much cheaper than a full visa

We bought a second place about 2 years ago and after a lot of research we went with an offshore mortgage with Lloyds which is working out quite well. I'm pretty sure we put down 25% deposit, but we've often thought since that we wish we'd put down a bit more and had a little breathing room. It just about breaks even, which is good for a tax point of view, but I think we'll probably pay off a bit more of it when the restrictions expire next year. Good luck with it! FFx the deposit for 2nd properties is always cheaper I had looked into this last year

I think you'll struggle to find one that will accept a 20% down payment in the current market. Likely to be at least 30% required. If you live overseas then i thought the deposit was 40% my friends are going through this now

I'm currently living in Al Furjan near Jebel Ali but am prepared to travel pretty much anywhere to join a team? Does any one know of any clubs around? or have any advice? Thanks xx They play every Wednesday at the 7's If you Google Dubai netball league there should be info there

Hi ladies DH and I are looking to buy an investment property in the UK. We would be putting down a 20% downpayment and mortgaging the rest. We are considering whether to take the mortgage from a UK bank or a UAE bank. The reason being, my credit rating isn't great in the UK (although I have been out of the country for 5 years) and I fear they will give me a much higher rate, despite earning a good salary now. Also I'm not sure what documents they would need to support this and whether it would be a hassle. Conversely, I am sure I could get a decent mortgage here from a UAE bank since I have lived here 5 years, have bank statements and salary certificate etc. But I know it is riskier than a more established banking system and rates tend to be high. Are there any mortgage brokers here who can present me options from both UK / UAE banks? What are your thoughts? Thanks! You could get an international mortgage however i do not think a UAE bank would fund this

Looked at the label and the price on it was dhs 350! Unbelievable! It is shocking! DP at home is so cheap and here ridiculously overpriced I buy alot from there, RI, Warehouse, Oasis and Miss Selfridge however i get it all online now and do as you do, try it on here first!

I think the price of food here is ridiculous! I spend double what I would spend in the UK and our fridge still always looks empty! really ??? where do you shop in the UK ?? loads of things I buy there are cheaper here... Tesco's, Morrisons, Asda! All so much cheaper, and they all do a lot of deals like buy one get one free, etc. Which you don't get here! I don't have Morrison's and nearest Asda is 20 miles away.. Tesco is cheap but quality suffers at times... Am still mourning the passing of 3 bottles of wine for a tenner !! lol although I appreciate it's hard to do a comparison of that here :D didn't notice as many BOGOFs in UK this time but saw plenty in the co-op here this morning !! I get you on the wine!

I find most groceries cheaper here than in my home country (USA). I also like the loyalty schemes that many supermarkets offer here. I have been gone so long from the USA that I don't even know if they do that over there. They do them in the UK Tescos and Sainsburys clubcards I just love that you can go to a major supermarket at home and get everything under one roof Here i have to go to 3 which are not close to each other

Quite a few people have moved from AR to The Villa as the rents at AR were going up but I don't think The Villa has it's play areas ready - perhaps someone there can update but I know quite a few people there with young children. My friends who live at The Villa have playdates in their gardens which are big and there does seem to be a good social scene there. Just another thought - if you know which school your little one will be going to then move as close to that as you can and you'll have lots of playdates from local kids from the school. 3 of my friends moved to the Villa from AR but have now all now moved back to the Ranches The Ranches has so much to offer - I loved it there. They had a pool and a huge villa but no amenities and they said the street lighting was poor

I have been trying to use the rental calculator for a month now and always says updating?? If anyone has a link to a working calculator please post it here as our second year agreement is due in just over 2 months. As far as I know you can only use it 1 month ahead Thanks GE. I did it as if we are renewing in 2 weeks and it said we are in the average so no increase. Lets hope it says the same in a month or so! I doubt they will go up Stand firm with your LL as we now have rights :-)

Hi - I know this subject has been done to death but I was wondering if anyone could help me. I have lived in a 4 bedroom villa in Mirdif for 2 years and the landlord wants to increase the rent by 20% as he says other villas in the area are of equal value. I have phoned RERA and they weren't overly helpful but the rental calculator states that it is within 25% of the properties in that area therefore no rental increase is available at this time. So does that not mean that I do not have to pay an increase - or is there other factors that i am missing? TIA If it says no increase then it means no increase He can only increase by 5% if the amount is more than 20% or 10% if 30% of your current rent ( On the calculator) The amount of years you have lived there has no bearing anymore it is all down to what the rental calculator stipulates

I have 3 children, including a 6 month old. This woman is constantly making noises that wake up my baby when he is napping. Of course I've told her (many times before), to be quiet and not make noise when the baby is asleep. Even as I type this, she is walking around crinkling plastic bags while my baby is asleep! Aaaaaaaaahhhhhhg!!!! If something as minor as crinkling plastic bags is going to disturb your baby, it might be an idea to have your maid take breaks when your baby is sleeping. Better to have a well rested baby than a spotless house. Having a maid is meant to make your life easier, it the cons are outweighing the pros then it's not worth having one. Sorry but the crinkling of bags waking the baby made me laugh. When mine were babies over 20 years ago, they had to learn to sleep while I hoovered and did the housework. It was the only time I had the chance, if I wanted to spend time playing with them. I know things are different out here, but honestly, surely it's to your advantage if your baby can sleep through household noises. Same as my Mum did

I never manage to get OH to go clothes shopping with me, and I like a 2nd opinion! I like to know he likes what he sees, so maybe yes it is my fault! But it is MY right to return if unsuitable, too small, damaged, etc .... MY right! MY right as well that I should get my money refunded. I agree it is NOT just Debenhams, had the same issue at Party Zone who gave me a credit note, for 6 months! Might as well throw it away, first time I've been there in 5 years, and not likely to need anything in the next 5 months! It is about principles! There was a conference recently, last week I think, on CS here in Dubai, clearly it has not made a dot of difference! Some companies could learn so much! I couldn't agree more!
