What happened to the woman who took the taxi? I'd have had her arrested for theft! I doubt that would work here. You are lucky getting one to turn up that is pre booked!

Hi Ladies, Any of you tried Hypoxi at Machka Beauty & Body Designs on Al Wasel Rd for weight loss? I did my research on Hypoxi and Dubai seems to have only a couple of certified Hypoxi studios by the parent company www.Hypoxi.net. My target is loose 10Kg and to drop 2 dress sizes by July. I have tried exercise, diets and I am not getting the results I need. been troubled with fat deposits all concentrated in my stomach and hips! My sister tried Hypoxi and did have effect at the time of the sessions but the weight and fat has returned back after she stopped. Same here. waste of money and i found the Body for Life diet plan and exercise worked far better in the long term

Have friends looking to come for 40th birthday over Xmas and NY. They would like to stay in a very nice hotel (have recommended One & Only or Zabeel Saray). Is there anywhere I should be telling them to look for good deals to book - (have checked the usual suspect websites but prices at the moment are ridiculous)? Any assistance would be appreciated. Ritz Carlton is nice

I'm have lived in Oceana for 18 months and have found this problem as well, but from the kitchen drains. Like you say it is not an everyday thing. I have also tried drain unclogger, bleach etc but that only works temporarily. The only thing I do is as soon as I smell it I run the hot tap for a while and that seems to clear it. Not good though if you have been out of the apartment and come into the smell. Not sure what the problem is and never had maintenance in to look at it as I think it is something to do with the building design. A bit like cooking smells wafting through the air vents! On occasion my apartment in the Greens also has this problem I run the hot tap and pour Zoflora discinfectant down which gets rid of the pong I think it is a common problem across the Emirate

I only skim read the replies already posted so forgive me if I'm repeating... But what about business bay? It would be between DIFC and Umm Suqeim, and rents are lots lower than other areas. It's still very new though, so maybe not much community feel compared to say, the greens but location is great near downtown, and easy for the metro to commute to DIFC. You're very unlikely to get a 2 bed for less than 100k in JBR or the Marina. Good luck!! Lots of construction and unfinished projects at BB albeit your comments about the location are spot on There are alot of hidden gems in Dubai that people not know about

I'm with HSBC and nothing happened when I changed jobs with a 3-month gap in between. As others have said, the account will only be frozen if your DH's employers inform the bank that he no longer works for them. They are meant to do this but in reality very few actually do. If he is leaving on good terms, I would simply speak to HR and ask them for an assurance that they won't inform the bank at least until after the gratuity has been transferred elsewhere. That's the only way to get peace of mind over this. According to the Central Bank no bank is allowed to freeze your account unless you have missed 3 consective payments to loans/C/C. That is why it is best to have a couple of accounts :-)

Hello We are going to brave it and hit Dragonmart this weekend.......we want to do a quick in and out (as quick as possible in that place!) and wondered if anyone knew which bit to head to for lighting. We've only been to Dragonmart once and really didnt like the enormity of the place but have heard that it may solve our problems finding the lighting once and far all so any tips on making our trip less painful would be most appreciated! Thanks :) I went on a Saturday morning at 10am and it was quiet

Am i the only one who thinks its overated, over priced poor quality grub? I have tried it on two occasions and on both found it to be bland and just blah. Even my friend who is from New York told me that she just didn't understand the appeal of Cheesecake Factory.. Or maybe i am just ordering the wrong dishes! No you're not the only one. I find it no different than Chilli's or TGIF. The cheesecake is more like concrete, it's actually flown in frozen so not even freshly made. I'd rather go to Paul for a nice soft piece of cheesecake. They need to wearing mask and stripey jumpers it is a rip off

Unfortunately no budget is given with my husbands company! Neither for me as 'local hire'. So a 'tight budget' it will be! From what we've looked at we were thinking a 2 bed apartment and have seen some advertised at 80K but not sure of quality. 80k for a 2 bedroom is a little challenging, especially with the rental prices rising quickly. We had a similar budget when we arrived. Something to keep in mind is that rent here is paid on installments of 1-4 checks, so you'll need quite a bit of cash (or access to a bank loan) before you sign a lease. We have a nice 2 bedroom that's quite large in Tecom and you can probably still get one in the area for around 80. Some other areas to check that wouldn't be a bad commute to DIFC and Umm Seqeim: Sports City, Discovery Gardens/Al Furjan. Unfortunately, on a budget The Greens and Marina would be out. You may be able to get a place in JLT, but it would be a very small apt and in one of the lesser quality buildings. Unfortunately, this city isn't very budget friendly. Some places are "chiller free" which means your air conditioning is included in the rent. The way the Greens are going it will be 80k for a one bed ( Some of the Links/Fairways already are). Have you tried the Gardens near Ibn Battuta? Not Discovery Gardens though Their 2 beds are still very cheap ( You do pay district cooling though) however my friends pay 50k for a 2 bed and the streets are treelined Thank you- please excuse my ignorance but what do you mean by district cooling? It is for the airconditioning. My Landlady in the Greens pays mine My friends pay DEWA ( , Water, Electricity, Housing and Aircon) of around 1500-2000AED a month ( They live in the Gardens) I have a one bed and my utility bills are no more than AED500 per month

I would also consider looking at Jumeirah Village Triangle, its a bit further away but you get much more for your money. 2 bed villa is 90,000 which I think is very reasonable. Not sure about the travel distance though. You should have a look at Dubizzle.com if you want the best deals for property and you can have a look at 2nd hand furniture there as well. Be careful quoting rents that are miles out of date - JVT 2 bed villas are now upwards of 130k. I suggest you look in Sports City/Jum Village Circle and Discovery Gardens. I agree 2 of my friends live there and they are being told their 90k 2 beds are now between 110-120k a year

Do look at Jumeirah Park, Victory Heights and Green Community Motor City as well. Whilst Jumeirah and Um Suqeim are lovely I have always found Americans hate most of the kitchen and bathrooms there! They do tend to be rather dated and grubby! That is very true. I really prefer an open-style kitchen, with an island. I've rarely seen that here. However, I'll take an Um Suqeim villa any day :) VH have the open style kitchen with an island

Thanks Sarahlou We will leave SZR Road (coming from AUH) near to JLT, Exit AUD - Media City. I'm sure if we will stuck in the heavy traffic as there still might be traffic to JBR and out of Media City. I think if you come off at the exit after JLT ( marked Marina i think) Once on the bridge if you stay far right you bear straight media one hotel is on your right Westin is straight ahead, you could always get out at the construction and cross the street

I heard so many stories of terrible traffic due to the construction and i dont want to be late at the hotel. TIA It isnt too bad depending on which way you drive in. I would allow an extra 30 mins or so

Can I find affordable clinics for liposuction in Dubai? how much does such surgery cost? When you say affordable what do you mean? Do you have a budget? When i had my procedure done ( Not lipo) i wanted to best surgeon not the cheapest one You have to do your due dilligence here. Any of the most sought after surgeons will charge more due to their education/skills etc. I would rather pay slightly more but be operated on by one of the best as if it goes wrong it looks awful and could end up costing you more

You should really go to the area and have a walk. The marina area is quite large and people have different preferences, i.e. sea view, marina view, city view, etc. Have a look and then you can narrow it down. I think they want a seaview so there are many buildings :-)

Would be very grateful for names of buildings that you would recommend, so that we can narrow our search down a bit. We have a good rental allowance. Thanks a million in advance! http://www.imexre.com/en/property_search/maps/dubai_marina.php It is a map of all the buildings

The contract doesn't need to mention it as its the law for everyone, landlord can give you aprooval sure, but then you and him are both breaking the law. 1 family per villa, outsiders (non family members) can live there only if sponsored by family (maids, drivers, nannies etc) . If someone were to complain you are both in trouble

Thanks Jodel. My difficulty is that my VISA is issued in RAK where my company is licenced. I applied for "the card" online (don't bother doing this - just go in person - as the courier came 2 days later and I took paperwork to the store and then had to go and get everything re-printed as they said they couldn't read it!) The courier paperwork said "bring with NOC from the Emirate Police HQ that issued your VISA" but I chanced my arm and went with a letter I'd signed. No joy. Now I'm trying to find out what's what as my licence lady says that one of her other RAK client tried to get an NOC from RAK police was told "we don't do this!" Argh! Guess I best take a drive up there and let you all know what happens! Hi Shelly Have you asked A&E or MMI they usually are the Oracle of these things!

Its illegal, one villa one family Plus it is illegal for non family members to live together in a villa or apartment So no Female/Male friends etc

We went to Yallumba for a farewell do last year and although I love the Al Qasr brunch, I would definitely choose Yallumba for a large number of party animals :) I've also heard about Saffron at the Atlantis, but never been.. Saffron is carnage! I have seen the most disgustingly behaved Women and Men from the Uk ( I am from there) Women sitting with legs apart and no pants! Fighting People being sick People abusing the bouncers If i was staying there i would be furious as it is wrong on so many levels and disgusting
