so only in flats it is allowed if it is fine with the landlord? not in villas even with approval from landlord? If I am the owner of a property then I can do whatever I want? It says on my contract ( I am in an apartment) subletting is not allowed I thought it was illegal across the board ( If a new tenant moved in would they not get a tenancy agreement which is theory means they are not subletting) I thought subletting was when a tenant rented it out without the LL knowledge

Hello all After 4 years one of my closest friends if leaving the UAE. I want to try and purchase her an Ipad cover and have a collage of our photos across the years put onto the Ipad cover. Does this make sense and do you know if there is anywhere that can do this?

I went to Ibn battuta, had it done in minutes. The guy working there was very helpful. I didn't pay anything but maybe that was because I am re-registering a number that's already mine. I went to MOE on a Thurs night no problems there either ( Except people trying to push in at the front) They would be dealing with the wrong person if that was me lol We were all queing nicely and people kept trying to talk to the staff at the front whilst they were serving other people. Thankfully one of the staff kept telling them to join the queue I am very vocal when people cut in ;-)

Maybe it is at that hospital I visited a Gynae there several years ago for a routine smear test She was more concerned with why i was not married and did not have children. The nurse was cringing with embarrasment and afterwards apologised profusely I said to the Gynae, i am widowed and cannot have children ( this is not true but i wanted to shut her up) They then, well the Receptionist tried to sell me the HPV vaccinne at AED1000 ( It would be too late for that at my age lol) I never went back. I worked for the NHS and a military medical centre for almost 10 years and had never come across such poor care from a Senior Consultant I now visit Dr Andrea on Al Wasl and have never been happier. I know the NHS is not that great in areas however give me their care anyday of the week.

There was a thread on this just the other day. I've used housekeeping before, the girls are good but they are not treated well by the British owner. Another thing is that when there is a problem, emails get ignored, phone calls never get returned and the owner is suddenly out of the country on business. I'm one of those characters who likes to know what is going on in the lives of the people who work for me. I don't like how this company treated me over a relatively simple issue and I also don't like what I have heard about this company - I don't want to get the thread deleted so will just say the company ethics don't gel with me and I'd rather do my own cleaning (which I do) than go back to them. Thank you for the feedback always good to know

Hello! I am looking for an inexpensive (500 - 600 dhs max) used mountain bike. Have been trying Dubizzle but not having luck with finding one available or getting people to respond to me. If you have one you're looking to sell (men's or women's, I'm not really fussed) please let me know - particularly if you're located around the Downtown Dubai, Arabian Ranches or Umm Sequim areas. They have relatively cheap ones in the big sports shop in MCC Carrefour Sun and Sand warehouse at the back of the car registration place on SZR Thanks, I'll look into it. What's MCC? Mirdiff CC there is a huge sports shop that is quite cheap I cannot remember the name of it but it is on the ground floor I am after a cheap bike too :-)

Does anyone know how much is the extra/incremental cost for a wedding planner? Perhaps look on the internet at the hotels Some of them may do a wedding package

Hi ladies, I've heard varying comments on taking kids to the movies in Dubai and wanted clarification if possible - not surprisingly, Vox Cinemas makes no mention of these issues on their website! help would be great! 1. Is there a restriction on moving showing times for kids? Like can you take a child to a movie at 9 pm? 2. Is there a restriction on taking children (5 years old) into movies other than G or PG (like an arabic comedy movie) if you accompany them? 3. What are the ticket prices for children tickets? 4. Is there such a thing as matinee pricing? no children tickets one price fits all. dont think there is any time restriction, many kids at 12am showings. why would you want to take an underage child to a 15 or something more. i remember when i first watched jurassic park way back when cant remember what the age restriction was but there were loads of very very young kids watching and then lots of very scared and screaming kids when the dinosaurs came out to play.... now really. we even watch some of the dvds before the kids to make sure its suitable. common sense and all that. A few of the cinemas are resctricting children at certain times. There was an article in the newspaper months back and it has been discussed on here maybe so in dxb... not so in auh.... yes i do remember there being an article about it but doubt very much that they will all follow it through. its very much like the car seat/seat belt rule here... if they implemented it properly then a lot of families here would need to buy new mini buses to fit everyone legally in one bum on one seat etc. If my memory serves me correctly it was Grand Cinemas and they did turn kids away I do not know if it was for non child films though

We were only in Doha for 2 years and regarded ourselves as temporary residents. The DVLA knew that we were abroad temporarily and had sold both of our car. When we hired the car from the airport we said that we were temporary residents in Qatar for a period of 2 years and asked which licence DH should use. He waved the UAE one away and took our UK one. DH did actually check with our home insurance company and were assured that we were covered for any claims as we were only temporary residents in Qatar and had been paying insurance to this company for many years. in the uk terms it doesnt matter..... you are not resident in the country, we are all temporary even me being here over 15 years as you do not have right of abode in the uae, but for uk purposes you cannot use your uk licence as you cannot legally give out your foreign address. if you have been out of the uk for 1 full tax year then you are not resident. again its not the rental agencies that are bothered it will be their insurance that will be in the effect of any claim. I believe you are supposed to surrender your licence to the DVLA if you leave the UK

I also find many ( not all) men from my home country develop an airborne virus when they move here! They become rude, arrogant and drink far too much. I have been approached here in the most digusting way and yet that never happened to me at home. The same happens in reverse too as my Male friends have met some corkers lol

I know many guys here who in their home countries would be wonderful men however they have all said to me on many occasions why do they need to settle down here as there are so many women out there. Some have even said that they could leave a bar, walk to the taxi and still manage to pull in that short space of time! I realise that sounds arrogant however i have seen it with my own eyes. I suppose people do not know how long they will remain here so why settle down. Others say they have met women but they were a bit mental and only interested in the cash. I do believe there are decent men and women out there however finding them is tricky. ( Avoid bars etc)

My (soon to be!) husband will be working in Jebel Ali, we have 2 small dogs and no children. Where would be the best place to live bearing in mind travel to work and the fact that we don`t want to be too far from restaurants, beaches etc? Would a compound villa (not too big) be suitable, we need a small garden for the doggies. Would appreciate any comments! Springs Lakes Greens allow dogs in the apartments JVT Arabian Ranches Springs and Lakes are closest the beach but still a 15 min drive and you cannot take the dogs on there. Jumeriah Islands

Can anyone tell me what to buy and where to go? I was thinking some type of personalised bag or golf balls, but have no idea if these exist in the UAE and I would need them by tomorrow :-S. Can be Abu Dhabi or Dubai, doesn't matter. If anyone has suggestions I would be grateful! Perhaps try the golf clubs here ( Emirates, Els, Al Badia) Or there is a golf placed opposite Careffour in MOE

I am moving with my husband to dubai in 2 weeks. My husband and i are looking for a 2 bedroom furnished apartment in dubai. We want that the rent of the apartment should include cost of basic utilities like electricity and water and the building should also provide some weekly cleaning service. We found a good furnished apartment in al yassat tower (yassat gloria apartments). Its priced around 130,000 AED per year and its rent does cover basic utilities...the apartment is relatively expensive.. Is al yassat tower a good place to live in?? Could someone tell me about its location? and is it better to purchase the apartment for rent through an agent or should we approach the apartment authorities directly?? Please tell me whether yassat tower is a good place to live in for a year?? It is at Media City next to a gas station and the metro station Close to Tecom where there are many restaurants and shop Mall of the Emirates is close by for shopping Views can be obscured by the metro and taller buildings on the other side of the main Sheikh Zayed Road Highway. Personally i feel the Gloria one on the other side of the road is nicer and you could request a seaview. My friend lived in Gloria and aside from the visitors that descend on the place at certain times of the year he loved it there. They have an infinity pool, nice gym and the area is new Dubai where alot of expats live 130AED isnt too bad for a 2 bed as i remember when my friend stayed there 2 years ago he paid AED120,000 which covered all bills I would call them directly and see what they can do for you price wise Is the agent charging you a finders fee?

I'm a big book fan and have already started collecting all the best of the best and classics for my little one. We read to him every night, even if it's a more difficult story we just shorten it or read until he's not paying attention (although he rarely is most of the time, he's only seven months). So many awesome classics come in board books now too, which is handy considering our little guy prefers to just eat-a-book every night. :) Bookworm by Park N Shop in Jumeirah has a great collection of board books, some of our favourites so far have been Giraffes Can't Dance, the Gruffalo, No Matter What (got that one at Kinokynia at Dubai Mall). Usborn has some great touchy feely books that are fun for him too, I think it's Usborn anyways... We have one called Farm. Some we have that are not board books but he's paying attention is Where the Wild Things Are, If You Give a Mouse a Cookie, Guess How Much I Love You, Andrew Drew and Drew... I could list them all but I'd be boring you. I made a list using [url=http://childrensbooksguide.com/top-100'>link[/url'> as my guide. Some of these come in board books some don't. Doesn't matter if it's a book for toddlers or babies... just read. They'll listen as long as they want and eventually will learn to love all stories. Ferdinand the Bull was a popular one for my neices
