Hello Ladies! I'm sure most of you must have had microdermabrasion done over the past year. Living in Dubai has made my skin looking dull and I need to get my glow back! I urgently need some quick good recommendations of places that provide this service and show effective results! I was looking into Dermacare, I was told that they are not too pricey and very effective. If you guys are aware of any other places please post em up! Dr Allen at Elite Dubai Health Care City He is only one of two guys here that I would let near my face, I don't know if they are cheapest but he is very good.

Does anyone actually know someone who was actually stopped by police in Sharjah after buying from Barracuda? (wouldn't be concerned with bandits because unless there's an accident no one is required to pull over for civilians) There seems to be so many stories, but all heresay? Would such a place be allowed to operate if it were illegal for Dubai residents to transport alcohol? I've heard Sharjah is a dry emirate, but transporting through there is quite different than consuming there, is it not? It all seems confusing. Nope and I have been here 10 years I also read a few years back in 7 days that someone high up in the police said it is okay to transport it providing you have a valid liquor licence

That depends on the employer. If they inform the bank that you are leaving then yes it will be frozen RAK and ENBD will automatically freeze the account with EOSB even without being informed I would be prepared that this will happen however if you have a new job and all the supporting docs then it will be unfrozen

I went with a friend to the Heavenly Spa at The Westin, who was visiting from back home, we got access to beach and pool also as a part of the treatment and were shocked to see all the couples around us at the beach getting intimate. My friend was surprised to see as she thought it was prohibited in Dubai. I am planning to visit Heavenly Spa again with my mom this time, but not sure if I should take her to the beach or not. If you go to Kite beach you will see many ladies wearing thongs and I don't mean the flip flop types, the amount of times I have been lying down and some woman with her bare *** on display bending over in front of me! At the hotels it is the norm as they are usually tourists and the staff will not tell people off for a peck or cuddle etc.

I booked a deep cleansing facial but I am really nervous about trying a spa I've never heard of and it was almost too easy to get a last minute appointment there which made me even more nervous so I would really appreciate your thoughts? would you recommend me to go to the talisa spa instead? I need this facial for acne. They have a FB page, check the reviews on there

They usually don't force a sales toward a car loan or mortgage loan as they tend to want the money back. They can move the EOSB into a holding account and only release it once you get a new role/visa

Apologies in advance for jumping on the band wagon but this seems to be a subject that affects a lot of people and yet it is really hard to find any definitive information so I am finding this thread really helpful. If you have an amenable employer and they agree to pay the EOSB by cheque , what is to stop you paying it into your existing current account ? What triggers the freezing of the account ? Is it a marker put on by the company to say it is a final salary transfer ? If so why would a cheque made out to you be a red flag if paid into your account ? Thanks so much. Most employers state it was EOSB and that the person was leaving the company. The bank called me once as my monthly salary was higher than it normally was. They questioned the figure which included my annual flight ticket!!! which is paid in the same month every year for the past 10 years!!!

Good morning ladies. I need to get my UK university degree attested at the UAE Embassy in London. Has anyone done this? If so, what is the process please and are there any companies who manage this process? Thank you! Index attestation are the quickest usually arounf 10 working days It has to be done by a UK solicitor first Then the Foreign and Commonwealth office in Milton Keynes Then the UAE embassy in London Don't try and get a UK family member to do it for you as the Milton Keynes part takes 4-6 weeks!! Expect to pay AED1200 and above for this service http://www.indexdubai.com/divisions.aspx?id=2

If she gets an office job One would assume that her visa will not be transfered. Her current one would be cancelled and then a new one applied for as a employment visa for office workers etc is completely different to a maids one. Of the people I know they have not cancelled the visa then let her go and remain in the country to find work. They have cancelled the visa and put her on a plane where she then has to apply for a visa to return. Even if you cancel her visa aren't you still responsible for her if she remains here? I think this is law. Yup it is the law, even the immigration advise to keep the passport at your custody once you cancel her visa to make sure she leaves the country after the grace period or to give the passport to the police if she abscond & you end up reporting her. she will remain the responsibility of the sponsor if she stays after the grace period illegally if she is not reported to the authorities. I did think that, thanks for the clarification :-)

I would like to get an evaluation and estimate of my car done? I got a recommendation of cash any car however the person can't tell me where their location is and google gives me two different dealers. Can you recommend an agency who would buy a car? webuyanycar.com I have seen their flyers all around Dubai, these sorts of agencies wont give you a great price though If you aren't in a rush try Dubizzle, my colleague changes his car every 3 years and only uses Dubizzle to sell

Hello everyone, Apologies for me asking a question as my first thread, but I wonder if anyone can help me. I know there are quite a few threads on this already but from what I can see they are quite old and there's nothing more recent. I'm wondering if anything has changed. I have been in Dubai for 7 years and for 5 of those years I've had a job with a listed company. Around 3 months ago, I took a personal loan to assist with the purchase and renovation with a house in the UK. Around 2 months ago, I began interviewing with another listed company (out of the blue) and managed to secure a new job with brilliant benefits and a 60 percent payrise, so of course I took it. I'm waiting to receive my passport back from my current job so I can hand it to my new employer for visa processing. I signed the EOSB form and I am owed a lot of money having been there so long. However, because I have the loan, I am being told by H.S.B.C (who I bank with) that they "may" freeze my account and all of the EOSB until I can show my new visa and emirates ID. They are actually being quite vague, I can't get a definitive answer. I don't have any credit cards (I cancelled the one associated with my account ages ago) but I am petrified they will use all of my EOSB to go towards my loan (it doesn't pay all of it but certainly a massive chunk) - has anyone had a similar experience lately? What happened? I had a car loan with H.S.B.C a few years ago and paid in full, no defaulting. Will this count? Are banks still doing the freezing thing? I've asked my new employer to stamp my contract and I've just asked for a salary transfer letter but not sure how feasible that is given that I haven't actually started the job yet.. Any advice would be welcomed! Thanks so much. My friend changed roles before Christmas and had credit cards, they froze her account however didn't use her EOSB to clear them as she had a salary transfer letter and offer letter from her new company It take them a while to unblock the account once she started the new job Why don't you call the HSBC not give them any personal details and ask them what the situation is

No one in their right mind will pay that much to suntan in the cold atm. Also most people I know that go there are skint after Xmas. :-)

Show this to your company is absolutely not acceptable – or legal – for anyone to retain a person’s passport. Technically a passport is owned by the government that issues it, not even the individual, so any organisation that seeks to hold someone’s passport is illegally withholding government property. In 2002 the UAE Ministry of Interior issued a circular that stated “As the passport is a personal document that the law obliges its owner to keep and show when required by the governmental authorities, it is not allowed for any party to detain the passport except by the official parties with a judicial order and according to the law. Consequently it will be considered as an illegal action to detain the passport in the UAE except by the governmental parties”. This statement is still valid and nothing in UAE law permits employers to retain an employee’s passport for any longer than is required to obtain or cancel visas. In addition, no one can fine an individual for wanting their own passport. Embassies will confirm that they advise their citizens that the practice of companies holding passports is in clear violation of UAE law, although there is not much that an embassy or consulate can do to help. A handful will contact a company on an employee’s behalf if requested, but general advice in the situation of an employer retaining a passport and refusing to return it is to register a case with the Ministry of Labour. An individual can go to any labour office or contact the helpline on 800 665.

Thanks for your reply. Several friends have said the same. I am just worried about not giving it to HR as I am still in my probation period so they could make things difficult for me or tell me to leave. When I asked why they keep it they just said 'company policy'. That word is used to cover a variety of reasons LOL

My employer is insistent that I gave them my passport, it is not in my signed contract that I need to give them it but it is in the employee handbook. They are very insistent that I must give them it but I do not feel comfortable doing so. Any advise? It isn't actually legal to give it to them so they cannot force you to. I have never asked to give me passport to an employer ( 10 years here) They keep my labor card instead and issue me with a lamenated copy of it. There has been information in the media from the government stating that companies have no right to take your passport

I have been told, by landlords agent, that we have to pay 500 AED for renewal of our tenancy contract. RERA are saying no we do not have to pay this. Obviously I believe RERA but worried that if I cause a fuss now they will not renew. Has anyone had similar experiences? They cannot refuse to renew or evict you and you can easily get a blank tenancy contract and do it yourself. Tell the LL agent that you have been in touch with RERA and they refute this Real Estate agents will try it on and I have heard of agents charging tenants AED2000!!!!

Hi everyone ! I'm trying to do the math here of how much chemotherapy can cost in Dubai (mom has cancer and I want her to be treated here), the word "expensive" is relative an can mean a different range of numbers to every individual so if you can give me a minimum or maximum figure per session along with the medical provider ,that would be great ! TIA Join "brest friends on FB" They will give support advice on all your questions In 2011 the cost for treatment was anything from USD30,000 to USD60,000 depending upon the type and amount of treatment required so I imagine it will of gone up since then

What qualification do you have. For example someone with a degree or NNEB will be paid far more than someone who doesn't have the above experience. Some nurseries do pay a better salary than others but it does depend on experience and qualifications Medical is now law however flight is a perk not a law so not all may give this

Hi, I'm in need of some advice if anyone can help. Ive left the job I'm currently in and my visa is due to be cancelled at the end of the month. I don't have another job just yet but am going to be looking. I'm due to be traveling back home in the first week of Feb to see family but have been told that I won't be allowed to travel if my visa has been cancelled as I have debt with the banks (credit card * personal loan) I have enough money in my account that I won't miss any payments and plan on coming back, but does anyone know if they will still restrict me traveling with a cancelled visa? Thank you Who gave you this information? I know of several people who changed jobs and had credit etc and were never stopped at the airport Then only time this would be flagged at the airport is if you had defaulted on your credit cards/loan payments and central bank logged this with the authorities. You will be fine
