I recently renewed my registration and it was 15 days late. As the OP said it is 20AED a month once expired My colleague always uses Dubizzle to sell his cars ( past six years) you have to pay to put it on the site now and it doesn't refresh anymore like it used to when it was free therefore will slip down the ads after 4 weeks or so

Could anyone recommend a reliable and reasonably priced "Handyman" in the JLT area who could assemble some furniture and hang pictures on walls etc. Thanks in advance. When I moved I used musthavemaintenance.com 200 for the first hour then 150 thereafter They did pictures, a bed, lights and plumbed my washing machine in oh and hung curtain poles

I was wondering if any of you have been successful in finding a company that covers women who are pregnant while travelling? I am 17 weeks and going on holiday for 1 week - and want to be safe instead of sorry. Why is it so hard?? Please help I am travelling next week! Which companies have you called?

Light pigmented skin is considered sign of beauty and attractiveness since there was no cosmetic treatment or procedure and women used to go for natural means to make the tone of their skin lighter. But now there are various cosmetic treatments that make it easy to get fairer tone of skin and making it even. Such cosmetic treatments include topical treatments having skin lightening ingredients and cosmetic procedures. So lets all encourage women to bleach their skin It isn't enough that women have enough insecurities without promoting these sorts of products Women are attractive and beautiful no matter what their skin colour is.

The tenancy laws here are similar to those in the UK You cannot gain access to the property until tenant is evicted, you cannot change the locks until the tenant is evicted, you cannot harass the tenant in any way, you cannot request DEWA is shut off etc You have to go down the legal route as per RERA/Rent Committee It is a pain as it is your property but this is the law. I can understand when things like this happen that LL request one cheque

I doubt they have applied for a labor card If you have a labor card and an limited contract then you are stuck I would ask them if they have your labor card as you should receive a copy of it. Regardless of a probation period is the contract is limited and you have a labor card there would be penalty for leaving before two years I hope this makes sense

Hi, does she have a facebook page? I'd love to see her work. I went to a hair salon the other day and now have choppy, blunt, ugly layers. In need of major damage control now! Try Ali at Slam near Ace hardware on SZR One of the best hairdressers in Dubai and always gets recommendations on here from ladies I would be loath to try a hairdresser that only one lady has recommended. I have known Ali as a hairdressers for 4 years and she is brilliant with all colours/lengths. She will sort you out as she has sorted a couple of my disasters out before. Very affordable too Too scared now. I trusted a friend who told me she goes to them and it's been 10 years bla bla, and my hair is stuffed :( I want to see their work now before I actually let them do anything :( Does Ali have a fb page or something? I even went to Toni and Guy, paid a ridiculous amount, and she couldn't do layers properly. Went to my hometown, paid a fraction of what Ipaid at toni and guy, and she knew EXACTLY what she was doing. There was one choppy layer, all the other salons were like, 'oh, it's fine, don't worry about it!' This one picked it up instantly. I'm waffling. I just want a trim, a little trim. Pretty please. I have been here for 9 years and have blond hair, the amount of hairdressers who messed my colour up never mind my cut! Ali is brilliant and does a lot of my friends hair. She will listen to you which many don't.

I'm not entirely sure this is correct, we have our DS and DD both insured on our private cars even though they come in on visit visas. We obviously asked and made sure that was okay and it was confirmed to us by the insurance company that it is fine, so they both drive here on UK licenses. It is a very grey area as many insurers say no and some say yes, the same goes for the RTA If heaven forbid they had a bump then many insurers have said they won't pay out. RSA who I insure with said no as did the RTA when I registered my car. If your insurers verbally said yes I would get it in writing as extra protection, many tell you one thing on the phone and the reality is very different.

Hi ladies, just looking for a monthly rental that is not too expensive in and around Dubai, we have a small house trained cat, we are looking for 1 or 2 bedrooms, it has to be monthly or 6 months lease as we are not sure how long we will be in Dubai for. Any ideas would be welcome. Thanks ladies. What price are you looking at?

I would ask the company what their training process is as I doubt many ladies on this forum can answer that question As the OP said many real estate companies do not give a basic salary only commission. Personally speaking I would not work for a firm that did not pay a basic salary. Make sure they are willing to provide you with a visa and legally they are supposed to get labor approval before you start work. Read the contract carefully and only sign if you are happy to work for them Regarding labor bans they are all dependent upon education and salary given however they don't apply if you are working in a Freezone area or aren't given a visa.

Apologies, maybe my post didn't read correctly. I meant that the results of the laser wouldn't be so effective. Is this true? I would rather use the cream. Although twice now I haven't. It doesn't block the pores as many surgeons/therapists recommend it prior to treatments, primarily for pain though Personally speaking I didn't think it did any good to reduce pain either.

Like Daza I came in 2006 but had cash for 6 months, a place to stay and contacts to find work It is very different now. You will be competing for work with qualified candidates who are resident in the UAE and wherever possible will consider them first due to convenience, cost and UAE experience that is unless you have experience in a role that not many UAE residents do. The holiday times are the worst time to come as everything slows down. As the others have said bring plenty of cash to tide you over. Most agencies wont make an appointment with you unless they have a role to discuss and not all will allow you to drop your CV. Register with all agencies, utilize company career sites and only apply for roles that you have relevant experience for. Do not hand over any cash before hand for anything and that includes recruitment ( It is illegal to charge and they cannot guarantee you a job) Personally I would visit here for a few months and actively look for work. Networking plays a huge part in job finding here Propertyfinder.ae is a good place to find short term rentals Good Luck

AirB&B is not legal in Dubai. There are loads of budget hotels which offer rates from AED 250-300 per night, Holiday Inn Express, Premier Inn, Ibis, etc. Most of the time they include breakfast too. I heard on the business breakfast that the government are allowing some LL to do short lets on their properties. They have to be registered and inspected first. Some 37 have just come online but I don't know where they are in Dubai

so me and my boyfriend both living in work accommodation and just want a wknd together..so my question is I hear that couples are asked for marriage certificate on booking a room at hotels..please help with how it works and recommend quiet nice places reasonably priced 200 - 250 would be a good price. Never been asked and I imagine the tourism industry would decrease in a huge way if that was the case With regards to hotels most of the decent quiet ones will be slightly more than AED250 although some may have cheap rates up to the end of August ( RAK always does) Try Groupon as they have daily offers

You either love them or hate them I have had them done twice and struggled with them. You don't need mascara and can get them wet. and they are quite long, if you have fair skin and shortish light coloured lashes they look very fake . To me they felt odd and not natural. Sort of a spiky feeling if that makes sense. I lost most of my own eyelashes and I couldn't lie down for 2 hours with my eyes closed whilst they applied them. I wanted to constantly open my eyes. What mascara are you using that it smudges? I use the volume effect by YSL and never had any problems with smudging. An alternative is having an eyelash tint which stays for around 4 weeks. Much cheaper than the extensions, takes 20 minutes to apply and once it is applied and dried you can curl them with an eyelash curler. When I go out I use falsies. It took me a while to be able to apply them but now can do them in the dark

Hi all, We will be moving to Dubai in October and have been looking at apartments in JBR. Can someone please recommend the best towers to look at (in terms of facilities/finish/ proximity to amenities etc) and also the ones to stay away from? We are looking at 3 beds up to 210K, and have a 19 month old so a children's playroom would be good. Also I've read that the traffic can be quite bad there - is that at all times or mainly peak times? My husband works shifts so if it's only peak times then we don't need to consider this as a factor... There seems to be a lot available in Murjan 1& 6 for example which makes me wonder if they're not that nice? Thanks so much :) I believe they are all the same developer so inside they all look the same. A friend lived in Rimal a few years ago but moved as she was home alone one day, heard a huge crash and the tiles in the living room had all lifted as if there was a mole burrowing under them. The traffic on the walk and in front of the building is always busy and gridlocked during peak times due to the tram. I find it very noisy and avoid going to the walk unless its early in the morning or Summer holidays

If you have an Emirates ID you can get into Atlantis Waterpark for Adults AED185, food and lockers cost more although we left our bags and towels by the sun loungers whilst we went on the rides and everything was still there when we got back. You allowed one bottle of water which is ideal to take in as a small bottle is AED10, sandwiches are around AED40-50!

Gap and M&S are good for basic t-shirts, they tend to be a good fit and good quality - not see through! Oasis have nice T shirts with more of a design or pattern so you could try Debenhams at MOE as there is an Oasis there and also other brands to check out. Massimo Dutti do nice tops but sometimes you have to check the fabric incase it is on the thin side. I forgot about Oasis. I got some from A&F at the Sun and Sand sports place and they wash well Matalan have some too

Have any of you used such products? any recommendations? any particular brand? xx You can buy St Tropez from Essentials on Al Wasl road I think Paris Gallery etc sell the designer ones such as Lancaster etc. you cannot buy the Dove or other cheaper makes here I buy the Ambre Solaire moisturizer one from the UK with the tanning agent in as they don't sell it here and in my opinion it is one of the best due to cost and smell :-)

Hello! I'm relocating to Abu Dhabi from the USA with my husband in three months. We are moving for my job. I understand I can't sponsor his visa and therefore his insurance given UAE rules. We aren't set on him getting a full time job so it's possible he won't have an employer to sponsor his visa. Is it common to repeatedly do a 30 day (plus 30 day extension) tourist visa for him? Are there any health insurance options for him? I'll be working for a large global company so I find it hard to believe that my company can't work out something to sponsor his visa. If any of you ladies are working and your husband isn't, please let me know what you've done. I'd really appreciate any insight. Also, if any of you own your own business I have lots of other questions on my husband's behalf. :) Thank you! He can do visa runs every 30 days toHatta- Oman however I think if he went to immigration in Abu Dhabi they would only allow one extension which is more expensive that going to immigrationand then he would have to do visa runs.

I was worried about the same thing but I've been told that hotels would more than likely be given special permission to serve alcohol as Dubai doesn't want to put off the sheer number of tourists that visit over Christmas. Hope it's true! I think it's true, I know there has been cases before, think it was supposed to be dry during the Grand Prix last year and they were aloud to serve during the event anyway. I am going for the food, so not bother either way, but know it would put off a lot of people going out and I don't think they want to take the risk to loose that much money. We went to Conrad last year, food and drinks were amazing (Veuve Clicquot champagne ). Only thing lacking a bit was entertaining, could have been a bit more things going on. It happened during the Rugby 7's too many years ago though

Hello Dubai ladies We are planning to move from Doha to Dubai in the next year. Please can anyone advise on the processes involved in this? How easy is it to transfer residents visa and Qatar ID to UAE ID or do we need to start from scratch. I am hoping the process is simple as we are moving within the GCC however that is probably wishful thinking! Also, can I bring my car from Qatar (no car loan) and if so do I need to convert registration etc.? Any other advice or information would be greatly appreciated :-) I have 3 children (age 5-6) so next step is sorting out schools but I guess we need to sort out the visas first... TIA for advice and assistance You cannot transfer your residents visas or IDs from Qatar to UAE ones ones you have to start from scratch There is no inter GCC transfer system as it is a completely different country This is on old thread but may help with the bringing of your car. http://www.expatwoman.com/forum/topic153021-export-of-car-by-road--dubai-to-doha.aspx ( it is the other way though if that makes sense) the companies on the link may be able to advise

Afternoon ladies I wonder if you are able to help. I have a friend in Canada that used to serve in the Canadian Military and is now working as a social/psychological worker to help troops cope with post traumatic stress or PDST as I think it is now called. He recently visited Dubai and was wondering how he would go about working here within the same field. So I was wondering if anyone had any contacts that I could put him in touch with and pass on his CV. Many thanks. I have a lot of British ex military friends here but to be honest have never come across roles that you friend is qualified for My understanding is that there isn't a large need for it out here amongst local serving soldiers. Most of the Western ex forces are in training and the ones that have suffered PTSD tend to remain in the UK etc as they get a lot of local support and help here through various military and charity organisations. Most of the military roles are gained by the old boys network. They all know each other and recruit friends and ex colleagues directly. He may find some Doctors that deal with PTSD in civilian life and I believe a few medical centers here offer this service. They may have some advice if he contacts them
