Hello Ladies.... We are relocating back to the UK and would like to have our suite cleaned before we leave. Does anyone have a good contact company who can do a good job at a reasonable price?? Thank you Ladies.... I used Churchill and were very good. I had a cream couch so you can imagine how dirty it got. It was a few years ago and cost 500AED

Hello Ladies.... We are relocating back to the UK and would like to take our cars with us. Does anyone have a good contact company who can give a shipping quote/reasonable price?? Thank you Ladies.... I would check the gov.uk website and import costs to the U.K first. Importing an non EU registered left hand drive car can be problematic and expensive. I know of people who looked at this however sold them here before they left as it was too difficult and expensive

Be very careful. It is a very tricky procedure and if done incorrectly can go very wrong. The guy I go to won't do it full stop. Filler is very thick and the part under the eye is very thin so lumps are common

Yesterday I went for a manicure and pedicure. The salon price list said 150AED. When I went to pay she charged me 250AED. I questioned this and pointed out the price on the price list. Her response was, Mam treatments are more expensive when you use an entertainer voucher but next one will be free!! I questioned this again but was told that was the price for the treatment I'd had!!!! I've been using the entertainer for over 3 years now and I've never heard of this before!!! The idea is buy one get one free, but this is just 50AED off!!!! Anyone else? Are they having me on?? I feel I need to contact the management to complain?? They are having you on, speak to the Entertainer as the other posted said. I believe you can make an official complaint to them

This is from Keren Bobker the legal lady who writes for the National Tenants are not obliged to show buyers around a property and if you are asked to do so and wish to assist, you should be given 24 hours' notice. Even a landlord does not have the right to enter a property without permission or a very good reason to do so.

Will you be continuing to rent the property under the new owner or are you leaving when your contract finishes? I've been in the former situation, and also had agents being completely disrespectful of my time. So I made it clear that viewings could only take place 6-8pm on Tuesdays and 4-6pm on Saturdays. If you're in the latter situation, I really don't see why it should be your problem and I probably wouldn't cooperate in those circumstances. You're certainly not legally obliged to. There is still 8 months left on our contract so We hope to stay once the property is sold but depends whether it is another landlord that buys it or someone wanting to live there. I will work out some time slots for the agents!!! Thank you for your response. The new owner will have to give you a year from the end of the 8 months you have left and they have to serve you an eviction notice through the correct channels ;)

Hey ladies, Would you be able to advise where I can buy/order young girls prom dresses from. My daughter is11 but very small and petite and this is her last year in Primary school. She needs a dress that is more teenager type, but for a small/skinny body - not sure if I am being able to describe this appropriately. I had ordered an XXS size for my older from ASOS, but she was taller. She wants it to be lacey and fancy, but not kiddish like in Monsoon. Any advice/ recommended websites to refer to appreciated, thanks You could try somewhere like river island, miss selfridge and topshop, they sell a lot of 'on trend' dresses in smaller sizes and not at break the bank prices. Miss Selfridge clothes are tiny and they do some lovely long dresses You can be canny and save yourself some money. Try on said dress in Debenhams. Go onto Miss Selfridge site and order online. Shop and ship said dress to Dubai the same works for River island

I'm wondering if anyone can help, my husband worked in Dubai for 2 years and was promised a visa everyday but in the end he never got one! In June 2016 we had to move back to the UK due to our daughters health and his company didn't pay him his final settlement or previous months salary! Before he left he signed the final settlement agreement his company gave him and they said the money would be in his account within 7 days. His work kept emailing saying they were having money issues and now they just don't answer! Just wondering if there is anything he can do as we are coming to Dubai in a couple of weeks for a holiday but obviously as he had no visa I'm not sure what we can do???? Why did he remain for 2 years with a company that didn't sponsor him? I few months I understand but 2 years is a very long time I am not sure how you would open a case with the ministry if he didn't have a visa. I feel you may have to write this off as he too would be culpable for remaining to work with a company without a sponsorship.

Legally you do not have to let anyone in. However when my ex LL was selling I set aside designated times and if they were late ( they usually were) then they didn't come in. My LL took the Mickey and I had real estate agents calling me at all hours however I put a stop to that. I used to allow a few hours at the weekend and that was it as she expected me to let people look around after 9pm during the week and all day on a Saturday. For some odd reason no one ever wanted to view on a Friday

Hi Does anyone have any feedback on the REEBOK I-run treadmill? I like it, since it is basic (is all I need), and very compact, as well as affordable. I have only found 1 online shop which offers it and they do not have a showroom where you can test. They do also not take equipment back in case you do not like it when it arrives. Not sure I want to buy a treadmill online without ever having seen/tested it. So, if anyone has any feedback, that would be great! (I am especially concerned about the level of noise it makes.) Thanks! https://www.amazon.co.uk/Reebok-REGF-14302-I-Run-Treadmill-Grey/product-reviews/B002KMK42A

Its on the outer road side at the bottom of street 6. It is a bit difficult to explain but if you come off SZR at Hessa Street, under the tunnel, keep right and then turn right by the Saudi German hospital. Through two sets of lights ( The Greens will be in front of you as will be regent school) it is on the right there. Its very small but my friends take their pooches there

I am thinking of moving to teach in Dubai with my 5yr old daughter. Do teachers tend to live in a certain place? Gated community? I know lots of jobs offer furnished accommodation, but give no details of where. All over the UAE. There isn't one sole area where they live. I know of people who live close to the school they work at as they are provided accommodation and others that have an allowance and live elsewhere. Gated communities tend to be villa areas ( Arabian Ranches, Emirates Hills, Victory Heights) the latter is an expensive area to live in so I don't know if a school would house you there

Phew! Like the idea of a maid! Are they relatively cheap? By European standards yes, however it isn't easy to check their credentials here. It isn't like hiring an Au Pair or Nanny at home Most have a live in whom they have to sponsor and you are liable for everything she does. They tend to only get one day off per week and work long hours. Others use agencies and the agency supply and sponsor them directly. It can be hit and miss hiring one and if you get a good one you are laughing. If you don't it can end up costing you and give you a headache.

Never needed an attested birth certificate in fact have never been asked for my birth certificate here . Your passport proves your age and nationality I only ever attested my highest level of education certificate. you don't need to do them all With regards to roles. Register with all agencies. Be aware they rarely meet or call you unless they have a role as they work for clients and aren't run the same as employment agencies. Linked in and Gulf Talent advertise jobs. The newspapers do but they are usually very low level roles. Many comapanies advertise directly through their own career pages. Networking is key and most people find work through networking. Also be aware the Summer months are very quiet as many people travel.l therefore recruitment is slower than earlier or later in the year

I don't want to sound negative but friends of ours were stranded for 2 hours and couldn't get cabs so ended up walking down the main highway to try and flag down a cab, others missed the event, I would get there good and early

Hi Ladies, We are leaving abu dhabi soon due to an emergency situation. It was so sudden that we have to break the contract for our flat ? ... I am advertising a lot of my baby stuff on dubbizle but no one is coming back to me! I have absolutely everything for baby girl and can't really take it all back with us! Would anyone have any suggestion about another place to put those items? I don't have Facebook (yeah I know, so 19th century of me). Has anyone heard of baby bazaar in abu dhabi ? Thanks a lot for any suggestion! I think there is a place at Times Square where you can sell kids stuff. My colleagues wife sold her Sons old clothes and toys there. I can't remember the name of it but if you Google Times Square market it may throw the name up

Honestly we aren't all bad. I've been doing it here for 10 years and would of been sacked if i wasn't good at my job None of my ads are fake and I will only ever invite someone to the office if I have a role for them as we are too busy to meet people to fill time. It is difficult for job seekers as we all work for clients not candidates . Sadly here it can be a role to fall into and many are only concerned with placements rather than customer service. It's finding the right one to work with and I'm happy to say I have a lot of satisfied clients and candidates.

I'm moving to the Dubai office of my company in April, from london. What do women wear in the workplace? I'm in professional services so working for a firm of fee earners. Shoulders/knees/cleavage covered presumably? What about little capped sleeves? I can't wear shirts as my boobs are massive, I tend to wear city dresses in London. Potential minefield, all input welcome as I don't want to offend. I worked in the region a couple of years ago but it was an inhouse role and super chilled! TIA! You can wear what you wear in the UK I wear trouser and skirt suits, smart dresses with a jacket, I say jacket as the aircon in some offices make it very cold. No cleavage and no really short skirts although walking around the DIFC you would think many of them were going to a nightclub. Capped sleeves are fine.

If I remember correctly, you will get access card for the family that rents the apartment and you need to be married ( as it is illegal to live unmarried in Dubai...know people do it, but it is a problem on the Shoreline). Visitors has to pay for Beach/pool access there. Silvstet is correct however if you have any family or friends to stay they have to pay AED100 per day to access the facilties

Hello,I'm new in here and I joined because I'm strongly considering to move to Dubai in the short future to work, and I need some advise regarding sponsorship.I'm currently pregnant with my first baby and I'm going to be a single parent.I am not sure wether is good for my baby to get the father's last name or should I give only my last name?how would this affect me,if I'm going to sponsor my baby in UAE?and if I might not give my baby the father's last name ,would I still get problems if my baby has the father's name written on the birth certificate?any help is going to be helpful, until I can decide about my baby's name when it's born.thank you so much. I don't think it matters what name is on the birth certificate as long it is attested in your home country however you do have to get the Fathers permission to move here, without this you would struggle to get sponsorship. Make sure the company you work for here pays you enough for sponsoring a child, medical insurance and childcare. Dubai is not a cheap place to reside in therefore your package will need to be a decent one

Sorry saralou, but not strictly true. fluffyfrank, what they're basically doing is employing you as a freelancer - I have one of these contracts, as I am freelance and have my own visa, as do many of the others that work with me - those in spouse visas are required to provide an NOC. Our contracts are only in English, and it lays out our key responsibilities and what is expected. 30 days notice is what written for us. This is normal, not at all illegal. But you don't have any rights as an employee, as you're not on the company's sponsorship and they'll just pay you the agreed shift rate. It's fine. Basically because it's a freelance contract - that's why they've put you as a consultant, none of the labour laws really apply and in that respect they can't ask you for 12 weeks notice, which is ridiculous. I'd say approx 30% of the staff in my department work under these contracts, so definitely not illegal - and ours is a company that does everything by the book. Hi FD So does that mean that anyone can work from home and no form of permit is required other than an NOC from Husband? Everything I have ever read or heard from the authorities has stated that you would need some form of work permit/licence to freelance It would be great to know this for clarification Thanks

Hello Expat Women, I am very new to EW and Dubai! I was hoping for some general advise from fellow expats. I have recently moved to The Greens with my husband and on settling in over the past few weeks, I suddenly realise I know nothing about the area and have a lacking social life. I wondered if there are any fellow greens residents that could advise me in making the most out of the community and/or would like to meet up for a coffee at caribou? I am also interested to hear any thoughts on a reasonable local supermarket and yoga. Thank you for any advice in advance ( i am fresh from uk so you will be helping a lot!) Welcome to the Greens :-) They have a FB forum so you may get more responses there. With regards to a reasonably priced supermarket I shop at Carrefour in the MOE then go to Park and Shop ( Tecom) and Choitrhams Greens for my pork and branded UK items The organic shop by street 1 in the Greens has 20% off the last Friday or Saturday of each month so there are a few bargains to be had

Thanks for replying sarahlou. The contract has a clause saying: "The relationship of the Consultant to the Client will be that of an independent contractor. The Client and the Consultant acknowledge that nothing in this Agreement shall render the Consultant an employee, worker, agent or officer of the Client, and the Consultant shall not hold herself out as such." As far as I know they did not obtain a Labour Card. What if, hypothetically, I have already been working for this individual for a year? I only work for her and work 15 hours a week part-time from home. The job was advertised on this website and I also went through a reputable recruitment consultant. I had no reason to suspect I was doing anything wrong. Getting cold feet now and want out but my employer wants 12 weeks' notice and for me to recruit my own replacement (!) as stipulated in the contract. I've got a feeling the contract isn't worth the paper it's written on and I could/should quit immediately. Personally speaking I wouldn't of touched it with a ten foot barge pole I too work in recruitment however I wouldn't entertain an employer that didn't provide a visa or labor card. Sadly you are also culpable as you are working for them illegally however I do not know how that would play out if your employer went to the MOL etc. Your employer is getting the better end of the deal as she does not have to pay any gratuity/maternity/holiday pay I personally don't think she can make you work 12 weeks notice as your employment isn't legal and the business of English law baffles me completely as it isn't valid here

Hi I am moving to Dubai from Sharjah next month, I was wondering if you can easily get bread/bakers flour in Dubai. I have a bread maker and make my own bread/croissants/buns etc here, my husband and kids don't like eating store bought bread products anymore. Thanks I am sure I have seen it in park and shop and choitrhams, the latter is tescos strong white flour which my Mum used to use for bread etc
