This happened to me once. I held down the top button and the home button (the round one) together for over 10 seconds and it came back to life. That was after googling some options. Thankfully it hasn't happened again. I didn't lose anything by doing this. I should of written I did this first and it didn't work. I then followed the other options :-)

Hi my iPhone has just died, won't power up or down just dead as a dodo - has been fine all morning - not been dropped splashed or anything - charged it this morning went to check it just now In case anyone had rung and nothing!- any suggestions on bringing it back to life? Or anywhere I can take it to get it looked at near mirdif Have you plugged it in and left it for a good few hours? Mine did this a while ago and it was just the battery needed properly charging however months later it just switched itself off and wouldn't turn on for love nor money I had to restore it and by doing so you do lose everything but it will come back on I had to do the recovery mode on the link below PLug it into a wall socket for a few hours before trying recovery ( This is only what the shop will do if it wont switch on) http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1808

I think it is legit as there is no rental agreement variation rather you have rented an apartment, not a space, conveniently there is a parking area below this apartment that you have accessed, now the regulator of the parking area, who happens to be the LL, is now charging for use of this area which you can choose not to pay for and the rental agreement will still stand. Most if not all apartments are advertised with a space. Every apartment I have lived in was. it comes as part of the apartment. It is their way to squeeze more money out of us as the rent calculator won't allow them to increase as they want The parking space is many times optional when you buy an apartment off plan in Dubai. My SIL paid 60,000 dhs for the parking space on top of the cost of the flat when she bought in JLT years ago. I believe the OP is renting the apartment, she isn't an owner

She clearly got pregnant last month. The heartbeat is only strong enough around 8+ weeks to hear and sometimes only until the 12th week. At least she is married so there will be no jail involved but she needs to go home and face the music. You would feel awkward having a pregnant women cleaning your home anyways. I didn't think they were allowed to get pregnant even if they are married. Is that part of their labor law ( Please don't quote me on this)

I am looking to buy suit pants and matching vests for my Fiancee and groomsmen. Can any one recommend a good shop to buy these from or is having them tailor made a better option financially? If so any recommended tailors for this? Have you looked online from the US and UK There are always sales and usually cheaper than here. You can shop and ship them and still probably end up paying less than you do here Debenhams and M&S have a wedding section

We have lived for 15 years in the same flat. Our LL has started charging us dhs3000 for parking the last 3 years. It is not in the contract but if you tell him that he says you are free to leave and move somewhere else if you want. Now we just pay. Most parking slots in our building are empty now as people do not want to pay the parking anymore. Rent is bad enough and now parking space is the new way to get more money out of tenants. He can't force you to leave if you don't pay for the space. I hate bullying landlords They cant just change the terms of your contract because they want an extra 3K

thats terrifying... getting into such situation... where you are not responsible yet cant get away with it easily. I think you should wait no longer for any more tests.. speak to her and get the truth and send her back with the next flight, I agree get her out as soon as possible If anything goes wrong you may be responsible for her Better she is on a plane than in Dubai jail

It isn't legal and certainly not half way through the contract Mine comes with a space and was advertised as such Tell him you need it from the Rent Committee ( say you took legal advice from them) as an official letter as this is the legal requirement see what he says. No doubt his annual service fees have gone up and he is expecting you to help pay for them LOL! I and my LL were told that they have to give 12 months notice from end of current contract Even if you sell within that period the tenant can stay till June 2016 as the 12 months notice will be given June 2015. This had to be honoured even with a new owner

I find good quality food here expensive compared to UK however it all depends where you shop. UK branded food is more expensive than home and my food bill is far higher here Car insurance and registration is paid once a year here. You can't pay monthly for this Gym memberships are ridiculously overpriced however most buildings have their own gyms Alcohol is more expensive than the UK and to buy it in Dubai you need an alcohol licence. Petrol dirt cheap, internet,tv around AED300 a month Serviced apartments are good to stay at initially as it's all in. For an apartment of your own you will need plenty of cash upfront for deposits and rent My outgoings as a single person are Rent 7000 a month Food, toiletries 1000 a month Petrol and Salic 400 a month Dewa 500 a month includes housing Internet, phone and tv 305 a month basic package on tv Hair and mani pedi 500 a month I rarely buy clothes here, I wait for the online sales and use shop and ship A night out without food in a decent bar expect to spend 500

My husband is 6'3 and has had great trouble on economy long haul flights, but it has never occurred to him to stop someone else using their seat - which they have paid for - if the function is available. His legroom is already cramped to start with but when they recline its torture. What will they do next, tell aisle seat passengers not to use the tray table in case the window seat passenger needs to exit? I always swap my aisle seat with tall guys as they look so uncomfortable being squished in the middle

I do try and speak a little clearer when talking to someone who isn't British but when having a conversation with someone else from 'up north' I must admit that I revert back to my mother tongue, so to speak! I was bullied for having a birthmark on my face, my nephew for being really pale and skinny. Kids can be awful and I would be mortified if I knew I had raised a bully for a child. The camp need to of done something about this.

I haven't had to climb in via the back yet, but there's always a first ;) Try getting over the gear stick in a maxi dress with 10 car washers staring lol Picture in my head I didn't really want ;) but I bet the car washers enjoyed it! I go backwards ha to preserve my dignity!

We have been searching for a Philipino full-time live-in maid, but it's been unsuccessful. People responded on our EW classified advertising, but they are very picky for working details and benefits. As school starts soon and we need to find a maid ASAP, I am wondering if I pay to those agency websites (find-your-maid.com or maid finder.ae) to get more candidates. Anyone has used these agencies? I hate it when that happens. You get to your car and usually have to wait until the person gets back to their car so you can move. [b'>Or sometimes at the supermarket, you come out with a trolley full of bags, and someone sees you and follows you to your parking space with a view to taking over the space when you leave. [/b'> You then start loading your car, and in their mind you are not moving fast enough, so they start honking at you to hurry up! WTH?! If someone does that to me I always put the shopping away, take the trolley back and then go back into the shop!!!! I actually did that last week.... Evil i know But fun and I always do it whether they honk at me or not. Oops GE and I have a lot in common. I do exactly the same. Infact most weekends at MOE I hate people who park over the lines and so close to you that you cant get in the drivers side of the car. I am sure I have amused the car cleaners in the mall on many occasion when I am clambering over the passenger seat and gear stick!

I remember years ago sitting behind a 4x4 in Oud Metha There was a note taped to the back window which I was trying to read whilst sitting at the lights It said something along the lines of I didn't know Mickey Mouse could drive, next time you block me in in my space please leave me a tin opener so I can get out! To block someone in their parking spot.... Personally, i think it is rude, selfish and incosiderate - no matter wheither you will be 2 minutes or longer. Do you mean it is your spot and someone is there? if so it is rude and not acceptable. I would block them in and when they cant get out let them wait! They closed our free sandpit carpark near work as people constantly blocked people in. If they hadn't of done that it would still be open

There is no VAT in Dubai, that should automatically make it cheaper here. Shop rents are higher but staff costs are lower, they charge more and people are willing to pay it. Importing it has nothing to do with it, most products have a far shorter journey coming to Dubai than to the UK. I'm not aware of superdrug but it would be great to have more choice. That is the reality of imported goods, I don't see why that is such an issue. You will pay more for goods that from another part of the globe. What makes people think that prices should be the same? Boots is in the UAE still a very affordable shop, and No7 skin care are better and more affordable than a lot of other brands. Plus, it's animal cruelty free. Superdrug also has good affordable skin care that is really "on trend" with what is popular on the market now, and is also animal cruelty free. I don't find Boots overpriced,plus, in the UK I only have to step out and see my Pound Sterling evaporate. How does the M&S in KL charge less than Dubai then? All of their goods to M&S are imported However if people can afford and want to buy them fine, I prefer to buy the same items 30% cheaper therefore my money goes further

Sarahlou thanks once again. Yes they have registered the Ejari. Will tell them they need to go to the place on SZR next to the RTA. Do you know of anyone who has managed to sell a property with a tenant still in it? Ours is in Jumeirah Village Triangle. If we do not serve this notice and sell the property is the new owner only liable to lease the property till the end of the lease contract? And after that it is upto his discretion whether he renews the tenancy or not? Is that correct?? I believe the law is that if you don't sell it before the end of the contract or eviction notice then they have the right to stay. You cannot re-rent it unless the tenant is happy to leave and you make them aware that you may re-rent it if it doesn't sell. They can take you to the rent committee if you say you are selling and then re-rent to another tenant. ( How they will do that when you aren't here I don't actually know but they do have rights as a tenant) If you do not issue notice to vacate and sell within the contract year then the new owner has to give one of the 3 valid reasons to evict the tenant or he or can stay. It isn't up to the LL to decide if he renews or not. The laws here a very pro tenant.

Somehow I doubt if the prices would be on a par with UK! Just compare Boots UAE with Boots UK. Or M&S prices! Couldn't agree more LT. I stock up when I go home as the only shops I find on a par with the UK is Ikea and on occasion New Look. The rest are 20-30% more based on the distributors and what they want to charge

Thanks very much all who have posted. We do not live in Dubai. Our property agents who neither pay us our rents on time, nor conduct property inspections as they are contractually meant to nor respond to emails or phone calls say that they are using Empost. This notice should have been delivered 2 weeks ago. We have not given them POA, as who knows what they would do with that. Tell them to go to the place on SZR next to the RTA and they do all the paperwork and delivery via Aramex. The typing shops should not do this and I didn't think Empost had anything to do with it either. Did they register the Ejari in order to raise the eviction notice?

If the landlord wishes to sell the property or use it himself, he must send a 12-month notice to the tenant through the notary public stating his intentions. The landlord may then refuse to renew any lease for a period that extends more than 12 months past the date of notification. The notice must be in Arabic for the Notary Public to attest it. Then, the notice should be sent to the tenant through Aramex, which now has a representative branch at the Notary Public and the two steps can be done at the same time. It is important to keep record of the delivery report, in the event the landlord will later need to file a case at the Rent Committee. I found this information above Aramex did not call me to request delivery they just stuck it to my door Ask Aramex as they are the designated couriers for eviction notices.
