lol...no mine has just blown up!!! Bought it in May and had been severely "seen off". I wouldn't dream of selling it on to anyone else so need to get rid of it "nicely" :)

Thanks everyone. We just needed to know if this was allowed, what they have done to us. It is a very small company and the PRO has no interest in "white people" (and has actually said that). Looks like we just in for a difficult month and then we not guaranteed wages paid on time at the end of May..this is another problem :(

What has happened to us is the company has paid our Landlord 3 cheques to cover the rent for the year. What they have done is left us WITHOUT 2 months salary and taken our expenses for relocation out here (which we were supposed to get reimbursed) to cover the 2 cheques so far for our rent. We had no idea whatsoever this is what was happening until I questioned it. Is this allowed or is it supposed to be deducted from your wages as a monthly payment?

Hi Parker99, we have only recently moved out here (October). Found the best thing to do is short term rent, on a monthly basis, so you can have a good look around. We used a company called Arabian Escapes, they were excellent, very helpful and the 2 properties we rented, one an apartment. at the Marina and a 2 bed villa, with pool at The Springs, were of very high standard. We eventually found a villa at Dubailand but it did take a lot of searching. The schools are a different story..can recommend Safa as our son goes there and we love the school although he is older. We didn't bring our dog over from the UK as he was a big black lab and we decided it would be kinder for him to stay there as he needed alot of exercise and I not sure of what is here for dogs t get let off their leads etc, however, there are alot of dogs here. We are still having lots of problems trying to get sorted out with various things and I hear it can take up to a year to be fully settled. Do like it out here though and the sun is out everyday so that is a bonus. Good luck :)

Well 7500 dhs and we are almost there. No help whatsoever from the company PRO who took it upon himself to say that "it is not his problem"!!! The guys at the Typing Centre and Immigration Office have been great and very helpful. Alot of walking back and fourth and 4 trips so far and one last final one to do but just incase anyone else has problems with their PRO, it is very doable on your own :)

Thank you everyone for your helpful comments. Tattie, no our certificates have only been done in London, not by the UAE Embassy. It all seems so complicated. Is it worth visiting a typing centre to see what exactly we need to do as getting very mixed up now?

Thank you so much Tattie Bogle. Can I just ask: where is the typing centre? We had marriage and birth certificates attested in UK by Foreign & Commonwealth Office, is this correct or is there anything else need doing to them? And where will my DH get his salary certificate attested? Really sorry to sound so "thick" but it is so difficult when we are getting no help or support from the office. And thank you once again for any advice you can give :)

Thank you Yvettesmom. Can I just ask you what did you do? Did you just go direct to the typing centre and get it all sorted there? How do I arrange a medical for myself? Is it under 15 years that they don't need a medical?

Please can someone help with this?? I have just read the "moving to Dubai" information on the page. Is this totally up to date? It would seem it only costs 370 AED not 1500AED. Is this correct?

Hi, my husbands PRO has told him that for me and the (2) children to get our residence visa, it will cost 1500 AED for each of us, plus other costs such as typing, as we are already in the country. Does anyone know if this is correct, or are we being conned?

Don't know if this advise will help, but the same thing happened to me when I moved to Oman and have to say is happening again here. My hairdresser in Oman told me that it is very common and it is the change in water, climate etc.I didn't go bald but it did go on for a long time before it settled.

I have just read your post and it is so sad. I thought my situation was bad but it is nothing compared to yours. I have, however, been through a similar situation, we were in Oman at the time with 4 kids. I returned home for 2 years, built up some savings and now we are here in Dubai. If you need any help with your kids or just a chat, please get in touch. Try keep strong, it is very hard, I know only too well, but you can do it..

Hi there, I have bought multiple vouchers too and not had a problem. I think Cobone is a fantastic website. We have been on things that we wouldn't have known about otherwise. No problems at all redeeming the vouchers either.

Please can anyone help me or give me information regarding home schooling out here. Is there anyone that does home school their children? If so can you please get in touch with me. I have arrived here in Dubai and my son cannot pass the assessment tests. Then was told today we only have 30 days from his transfer certificate so basically we have about 2 weeks left. Am getting very desperate..

Hi Aryanwynn, I was wondering if you could possibly PM me as I would really like to talk to you about Homeschooling. We are having HUGE problems getting our son into school here in Dubai and short of going home after only 3 weeks, we are running out of options. Would be grateful if you can help..
