I need to take DHEA before my next IVF cycle. Anyone tried to purchase Micronized DHEA recently and if so which pharmacy did you get it from? The pharmacy next to Waitrose in Dubai Mall is out of stock. (Has to be from pharmacy and not the normal DHEA which you get in supplement/vitamen shops).

Hey there. I wasted so much time with a standard gyny and they still didn't run all the tests I should have had, I found this out much later from a specialist. I think you'd be better just cancelling that appointment and going straight to a fertility specialist now so they can do a full workup on you and your husband so you know where you stand and whether or not you require any fertility treatment. The Dr that Hilbils recommends sounds really good, I see she has a tie up with Conceive in Sharjah which is where I went for a consultation while in Dubai. So you could contact either of them, I guess Dubai Mall is much handier. That way they will run all the tests you both need instead of you telling your gyny what you think you need. Get a copy of the results from the test she has already done so you can take that with you. A consultation with Dr Pankaj at Conceive in Sharjah costs 400AED, if you have the consultation with scan at the same time it will cost 700AED, I'm pretty sure you would get scanned to check your antral follicle count which is an indication of your fertility. Follow up consultation is 300AED. The AMH test cost 760AED. Semen analysis costs 250AED. They may or may not suggest chromosome testing, this cost us 590AED each. There are other tests they may do but I don't know the costs.

Just saw you asked about blockages also. The only way to check fallopian tubes is to have an HSG test, I had this done in Dubai 2 years ago and all was normal. However, if your AMH is low and IVF is recommended then this test would not be needed. It sounds like your gyny will be putting you on chlomid, again I would get your AMH checked before you think about taking chlomid as it is unlikely to make any difference if your AMH is low. Forgot to mention, if you get your AMH tested you will also get an ultrasound to check your antral follicle count, another way of checking how fertile you are.

I agree with Hilsbils, you should consider getting your AMH/FSH checked out. I went to a standard gynacologist when living in Dubai as we had not conceived after a year of trying, I was 36 at the time. She ran the standard ovulation blood test and ultrasound to check I was ovulating and all came back fine, my husband got checked out and all was fine and we got told to keep trying. It was only once I went to see a specialist dealing in infertility last year, here in Muscat, that I got an FSH test which showed I had low fertility (by then I was 37), I really wish I'd seen a specialist earlier. The AMH test is more accurate and shows what your ovarian reserve is, once it is low it can effect the quality of your eggs, most women will have diminished ovarian reserve in their late 30's early 40's (some earlier, some later) hence it becomes harder to conceive as you get older. I still ovulate but my reserve is low so I am undergoing IVF. I went to see Dr Pankaj at Conceive in Sharjah in March and he sent me for my AMH test at BioMed Lab in Sharjah, it cost 760AED. Good luck with the baby making ;-)

Hi hilsbils, Thanks for all the details! I used to live in Dubai but unfortunately had to move to Muscat last year as husband was relocated here. So I've been having my treatment in Muscat. Although I did take a trip to Conceive in March this year to have a consultation with Dr Pankaj but decided it would be easier logistically to just have the IVF here. I may reconsider that! I have had every test under the sun done, including all the tests you have mentioned and everything is normal except my AMH, although this is proving a tricky one to overcome! My protocol was very similar to yours in that I was on the short protocol but just different drugs, I respond slowly so took couple more days of stims than you. CD 2-5 - Fostimon 450iu CD 6-8 - Fostimon 450iu and Ganirelix CD 9-13 Puregon 600iu and Ganirelix CD 13 - HCG trigger I made a mistake on my below post, my transfer was day 3 not day 5, although embryos were still not where they should be for day 3. I've been on progesterone tablets and gel since egg retrieval and also junior aspirin and Clexane injection. I have not taken DHEA although Dr Pankaj did mention this to me at my consultation my Dr here was not as supportive of it so I didn't take it. I think I will take it next time. I have been taking Pronatal vitamin (which contains folic acid etc) for 3 years, that is how long we have been try to conceive! I also did acupuncture and will continue with that. Roll on 13th Sep for you!! Do you have the Zita West relaxation CD? There is a part you can listen to while in the 2WW, great for relaxing, sends you to sleep!!

Hi Hilsbils, I am new to this forum and just did an IVF search and found your thread. Wow, great news that you got a positive result, congratulations! I'm 38 and also have low AMH, 1.02. I have had 4 IUI's, 2 resulted in early pregnancy loss at 6 weeks. I had first IVF in May which was cancelled after 5 days of stims due to poor response. I had my 2 IVF this month, increased the dosage this time and I got 10 eggs but all low quality which resulted in only 2 fertilising and producing 2 low grade embryos, one only 3 cell at one at 5 cell at day 5 but with lots of fragmentation. I had these transferred as there was nothing else but not holding out much hope. If trying again we need to try and improve the egg quality but I'm not sure there is much you can to do improve this. As you got great embryos I wonder if you would mind sharing what your protocol was, the drugs used, dosages, any supplements etc for your cycle? All the best :-)
