Dear mjvdp9,I said in my first reply that she should contact a good dr. N later I said that contacting a good psychologist is also important...I know very well that it's a tense situation for a mom,as I'm a mom to a 21 year old girl n a 13 year old boy.....I just dint say "all vil b ok", that was just to reassure a worried mom....take care..... Please don't worry pinky13. I think many of us were treading carefully as its heartbreaking. xxx

Hi forever21, I didn't want to post this but after much reflection I now feel I have to. Someone very close to me has suffered with this. The person had the same symptoms, which began at the same age. Although the eating at meal times seemed to be good it then emerged that lunch for school was being thrown away discreetly. Thrown into sanitary box in toilets. Observed by one of their friends. Heartbreaking. They attended GP and a specialist clinic. It has been over 7 years and although happy and 'healthy', for want of a better word, still there are issues, image and only eating certain foods. But grateful they can express their feelings. This is one illness that is like a heavy grey cloud pushing down over a family and it doesn't ever seem to go away. You will blame yourself and spend years, months and days questioning how did this happen? Where did I go wrong? Please don't blame yourself though. You will do that. The main thing is that you are strong enough to get your princess help and also advice for yourself and others in your family as it will affect them too. Very worrying and upsetting for any parent. My heart goes out to you and your daughter. If you ever want a friendly chat let me know. xx Wishing so much strength and love. Yes go to your GP now and get an urgent referral. http://www.camaliclinic.com/who-we-see/ http://www.americancenteruae.com/eating-disorders/

I would suggest you get a letter from your GP from where you live at the moment which states why you are on this drug, dosage etc. Even bring your recent medical history too if you can. Plus send a copy to your email, just in case you loose the original at any time. Sorry if it seems like I am stating the obvious but best to cover yourself. By all means bring some with you and if you have to bring over enough to cover you for 6 months or so just ask your doctor to supply you with a letter so that if there is any problems at airports you'll have proof that they are for your health needs alone. Once you arrive and get settled in Doha why not go to a family practitioner at your local hospital and show them the letter from your previous Doctor. Unfortunately I am not familiar with Doha, or the drug your on, but here in Dubai there are some drugs that are government controlled and only the hospitals can supply them. Not long ago I was on certain controlled ones here and even though the local GP could give me a prescription the pharmacies were unable to supply the medication, only the hospitals. The hospitals wouldn't accommodate the GP's prescription at all so I had to then see the family doctor in the hospital to then get another prescription. Crazy I know but very true. Might be worth checking out and avoiding two GP bills and visits. Good luck.

Hi laxmi1988, I am not a doctor. But as far as I am aware folic acid is recommended during pregnancy and I believe vitamin D but you can get vitamin D from just walking in the sunshine for just a little bit. All I will say is just eat and drink healthily then, when you can go, follow the advice of your doctor. If you are at all concerned I am sure that you could even call up a hospital or a clinic and ask if someone can just put your mind at ease otherwise you're just going to get worried even more. xxxxx:)

It is advised that women should take Folic Acid tablets during early pregnancy although with regards to other vitamins you should be advised by a GP. You should get enough nutrients from your diet from fruit, veg, meat and milk etc so not requiring extra vitamins. Best advise I can suggest until your paperwork is completed is look after yourself. Eat and drink sensibly with foods that are good for your health and the health and development for your little bundle of joy. Then once your paperwork is sorted go straight to your GP just to put your mind at rest. Good luck with your pregnancy. xxx:heart:

Hello Ladies, Do you know a good doctor who has done successful spine surgaries in Dubai? Or who can treat chronic leg/ sciatic nerve pain due to disc bulge. Thanks Niro I went to see Dr Kris Lewonoswski. At the time he was in Saudi German but he has now moved to Alliance Medical Centre. He is from the USA and would not go down the surgery route until every other avenue had been tried first. I had physio, injections etc etc. My lower spine was in pretty bad shape though as I had bone on bone so I had to have surgery and had fusion in the end. But that was in january last year and today I am different person. I wish you all the best though as back pain is just misery. xxxx http://www.alliance-group.ae/team

So I have been onto customs and courier in UK. Firstly it's not 160 sterling its nearly 170. I was going to get DD to reject the package and then it would be returned to me. If it is rejected then you don't have to pay the 170 charges. Just pay for the return courier. It now appears that the UK courier company are saying they have paid the charges already and that they have it on hold until payment is made to them. What really does annoy me is that they are now saying that to have it returned would cost us the courier fee and the 170 pounds charges. I would like to know who gives them permission to pay these charges, if they have seriously done so, as I never once got a notification of any charges, only my DD telling me via message this morning. I'm still waiting the outcome. What a nightmare. So I would like to advise all 'gift' senders not to use couriers, but to order from the UK if delivering in the UK. Please learn by my depressing day.

Hi ladies, happy Eid! Hope you are having a great holiday! I would really appreciate hearing from past or present parents at GEMS Wellington international school (the one on sheikh zayed road). I have an offer there for my child and need to decide quite soon and would love to know if it's a good school, how parents are finding it, how it is managed etc etc. Any and all feedback welcome. Many thanks!!! Hi dubailoner, Our youngest DD spent just her last 2 years of schooling there. She loved it, made many friends and left with outstanding results. That was 3 years ago. Having said that in my experiences through the years, no matter where you live you will always find great and yet, sadly, not so great teachers. Plus here I have also noticed that teachers come and go sometimes at an alarming rate. The schools facilities are great but then they should be considering the cost parents have to pay.

Hello, My husband had a large pimple like on his forehead (size of a 25cent coin) and day by day the area around it is swelling up, now his entire forehead is swollen and we need to go to a dr ..a good de that will probably make an incision and relief the area Can you please recommend a food dr to go to? Thanks I'm no expert but i'd be going to the hospital. Sometimes a doctor would refer you there anyway. Good luck and I hope he's ok. xx

The best place I have found is Computer Plaza, Al Ain Centre, Bur Dubai, Mankool Road. Very competitive prices and you can go from shop to shop to get the best deal. Many can repair while you wait. Usually open 10 to 10. Tel: 043595010.

I have actually just found out that it is not a crown but a 'cap' which to me is something different although I am told that is what they call them all now. So no root canal required its just to protect the tooth as most of it is filling but doesn't require a root canal. When I said oh yes you mean a cap not a crown the lady said well its the same thing. So the price is the same. Is it the same? Am I behind the times here?

Recently I was told I needed a major operation. Had XRays and MRI. I went for a second and a third opinion and thank god I did. Turned out I just needed a cortisone injection and physio. I have been pretty upset and scared given what I was told initially. So all I am saying is 'please' take your scans and xrays and get a good second opinion before relying on the first one. xxxxx

Hi McDuds2014, I had a great job back home but as DH was having to work abroad it was a no brainer for me to up sticks to be with him. We had no help with school fees, accommodation or car etc etc. So it was pretty tough but we managed it. Now having been here over 5 years I can honestly day I haven't regretted a day. Apart from the very hot summer months. But we all find something to complain about during that time. I do not live in a villa but that is down to our own preference and I certainly can understand your wanting a garden and a villa for your little girl too. As long as there is a communal pool which, personally, I believe important not only for keeping cool, having fun and socialising with others too. I am sure there are many ladies on here that can advise on best areas for villas too. But just be warned that should you do anything to a garden such a grass, shrubs trees etc... the 'whole lot ' usually. has to be uprooted if you ever decide to move out. Such a shame I think when people put so much money and love into them just to see it all dug back up again. That is what I am led to believe anyway, unless that has changed recently. Dubai is a really lovely and amazing place but it can be costly. If you can afford to save after all your regular and unexpected bills without ever borrowing you should be fine. You're little girl is also young enough to give you the chance to experience the place without having extra worry of uprooting her from a school too, should you not like it and decide to return home. Basically what is great for some can be misery for others. You could even go to a serviced or short rental, for a week or so, to help you decide and view more areas too. These can be a bit pricey but better than regretting handing over an annual rental cheque and signing for a year. There are also a few sites on Facebook which you can also check out covering various areas here. These can be buying or selling items, advice, cars, removals etc. :)

Usually you would have to find a years rent in advance unless the landlord concerned accepts 4 cheques or you're extremely lucky enough to pay monthly. Your utilities seem quite high. If that would be your usual costs for a villa then I would consider an apartment where they would be considerably lower. Also being in a villa, depending on where you'll be located can have transportation issues. Unless you have 2 cars. Yes taxi's are plentiful but not always on your door step around villa's but you could call for them. Obviously you won't have schooling issues just yet but they are pretty expensive too. Obviously depending on where you'll live you may also need to think ahead of school bus collection and drop off. Once again a hefty cost. Nursery costs may need to be considered. Contents insurance advisable. Hopefully your husbands company would also arrange all your residency visa's? Will his company arrange medical insurance for you all? You'll need it. Will his company supply a car? One less to worry about. Maintenance costs on your accommodation. Very few are free, most places the tenant pays the first 500 dhs or 1000dhs for every repair. Landlord usually covers A/C and its maintenance but this needs to be checked and put in the tenancy contract. Most landlords here you hardly ever get to meet and agreements are arranged by the agent. Make sure agents are registered with RERA too before handing over any money. You also pay agents fees and deposit too in advance. Basically its a landlords paradise. Yes, working part time is rare here. Especially office work and for westerners. Depending on where you go to get groceries you can save if you shop around, go to the big supermarkets. Not sure if I've rambled on a bit but hopefully these articles may help too. Good Luck. xx http://www.expatwoman.com/dubai/monthly_property_renting_in_dubai_13221.aspx http://gulfnews.com/guides/life/law-finance/ask-the-law/housing-rent/rera-dubai-rental-law-for-landlords-and-tenants-1.1573821 http://www.expatarrivals.com/dubai/buying-a-car-in-dubai

Sadly there are many many couples that are unable to have children and would be so grateful to have either a boy or a girl. I am very old fashioned and believe that you should be just thankful for what you get given in this world. You have a son and now a lovely little girl on the way. Just try and embrace the joy that you have been blessed with. If you have feelings of resentment do you not think that it will rub off on the baby and your little boy too? You should be telling your little boy that girls and boys can play great together and that she will need a playmate too and how much you will need him to help you with her because she will be so tiny. You need to encourage this. I am so sorry if this is not the answer you were looking for but you need to be more responsible. Rant over.

I always tried to book a cot on the plane and seating beside it. I always found that if landing or take off got delayed of didn't coincide with a bottle feed I would always carry a couple of bottles of baby fennel drink or something similar so that they had something to swallow to prevent their little ears from popping. Lets be honest, sometimes ours ears pop so theirs might.xx

Hi SGambs, It really depends where you are moving to. But we did the same thing about 5 years ago and our youngest was going to have to sit her final 2 years here at a new school. With Dubai being full of so many different cultures she settled in very quickly and made lots of friends too which made us very happy. Now she is at University in UK but loves coming here every holiday and catches up with those friends that are also on holiday too. Friends for life. Glad we all have had the chance to experience this amazing place. Long may it last. I wish you lots of luck with your move too. xxxx:)

If you're doing the cleaning yourself then it's pointless her being there. Speak to her company. Ask if they could send someone else. If there is still no improvement then best change your cleaning company again. Very frustrating and a waste of money. bye:
