Thank you all for your feedback.....It is indeed a difficult decision considering the general risks of investment in real estate here and even questions whether Palm Jumeirah is the right place to invest...

I suggest that you get a used navigation device via dubizzle. Many people now use google maps and waze via their cell phones and would be happy to sell off their old devices at much cheaper rates.

My DH also had issue in L4/S1 which started six months back, while pain killers would help to provide relief, my DH visited Dr. Malcolm Gregory (Osteopathic Health Centre) which has helped him to almost eliminate the pain. Best of Luck, i know its not easy for you and your husband.

seasand- I hope you get well soon, please keep us posted on your development. My DH has similar issue Disc Prolapse/Disc herniation (L5-S1) and has been visiting many Clinics . He is currently going to an Osteopath which hasn't improved the situation either. I had posted similar question in forum and there are some recommendations against that post specifically detailed response from amelton. My DH has not been able to visit Dr.Kadri yet but plan to do so. He had already visited Wooridul who are recommending surgery and as per them its not a complicated process yet most of our family and friends are recommending to avoid surgery specially in UAE.

Hi Ladies, We would love to see the fireworks at Burj Al Arab but since we have a 1 year old kid with us, can anyone suggest what is the best spot to watch the fireworks. I definitely dont want to rely on any form of public transport as that will be a bummer. Any parking spots around that area that anyone is aware of or a viewing spot with a clear view of burj al Arab?

We went to the beach with our 1,5 y.o. to watch fireworks last year. I just don't remember how we managed with her sleep. We live in JBR, so there's anyway no chance she will sleep peacefully with all this noise, so we are planning the same this year. Hi, brother's family is spending new year with us in Dubai. As they have a 6month old we plan to walk over from JLT to JBR to see the fireworks of the palm. However i would like to know which is the best spot to be standing at to see the fireworks at the palm. Are they clearly visible if we simple stand at any part of the JBR beach in front of JBR walk?

I had it, it made no difference and then it broke anyway, and fell off in pieces. 3 weeks we had it. Which one did you have that just broke? Blu or Pure Blu? I am confused which one of these brands to go for?

I moved to Dubai 2 months back and have applied to every Human Resource Job opening on any given recruitment website since then. I have so far not had a single call. Plus i submitted my resume on the websites of Frazer jones, Charter house, Michael Page and several other headhunters. I even tried calling them to meet them in person to discuss my profile but apparently they do not entertain walk-in clients and said they would contact if anything suitable comes up. Friends have told me that summers is a very slow period for hiring and most of the hiring takes place in the last quarter of the year. They asked me not to get frustrated and keep applying and that it would take time. Therefore i have got my fingers crossed till i find something. Meanwhile i am looking for volunteer work. Good luck to everyone going through the job hunt process =) edited by ShafzzZZ on 24/06/2013

Hi Ladies, Its only been 3 weeks that we moved here. Its my husbands birthday on Monday. Since we are temporarily living at Dubai Marina, i found the dinner cruises to be a nice way to celebrate but now that its very hot, can anyone please suggest a fabulous restaurant and a great bakery where i can buy a small cake from? Thanks, Shafaq

I am staying at a serviced residence at Dubai Marina called Nuran Marina Serviced Residence. Absolutely brilliant. Location is perfect, view is gorgeous, the apartment is spacious and modern and the staff is super friendly. Kitchen is well equipped. I give it a 9.5/10!!!

Hi Ladies, Seems like most of you are well settled as i did not see many posts inquiring about apartments in 2013 =) Me and my husband moved to Dubai a week back and are looking for an apartment in JLT. I read lots of previous posts pertaining to JLT and various apartment buildings with pros and cons. Does anyone have any reviews about Lakeside Residence, a new building next to Movenpick? Thanks!

Hi Ladies! I saw that one of the ladies mentioned a contact number of an agent from IFA properties and one of their representatives sitting at Laguna tower. I get a different response from both the contacts persons on availability of a 2 bedroom apartment in Laguna tower. One says it is available and the other says they are all rented out. Does anyone know of any other agency that deals with apartments in laguna?
