Lived there for over 30 years you will be fine. In terms of greenery, it depends where in Makati will you be staying. I can't really tell much about the school in paranaque though if you have a choice, the fort would be a lot closer to makati. Yes, you will get different views here but really it's a good place. It depends how you allow other people like maid to get in to your life. If you will be the one to be there at home, that's going to be a lot better. Anywhere, it's so hard to employ or trust other people. Hospitals - go to Makati Medical Centre and St. Luke's at the fort and you will have access to world class hospital and best specialists there.

I would suggest to stay within Makati - Salcedo or Rockwell area or The Fort, Taguig City. Most International schools are located in The Fort. The people living in these areas are usually expats or professionals, you will surely enjoy your stay in these places. Let me know if you have anything particular that you want to know.

Jokay, I think you are over-reacting to Desert Roses's politely-made original point, that your difficult personal circumstances - not being able to have children and your husband not seeing his as often as he would life - are skewing your view on this issue. I'm not blaming you in the least, but I think that in your situation, it would be very easy to imagine you would spend 24/7 with your children from the moment they were born to the moment they left home, but, realistically if you do have children of your own (and I hope you do), you may well find you need to make compromises on grounds of finances or for other reasons you can't foresee. How do you know the children you see with maids 'don't know anything about their mothers', or are brought up by their maids? If the maid regularly picks them up from school, does that mean their parents don't spend time with them later in the day? Tell me someone out there sees what i see. My neighbours maid does everything with their child including waking up at 4 in the morning to clean cars and maidly things. where i come from, a maid was exactly that, a maid. Why you're still awake?? You need to wake up early tomorrow to check the maid of your neighbor waking up at 4 AM. LOL joke. Actually, my husband works for dubai police, so he needs to leave that time. Now I get it! Police and a police woman next door.

We went to Atlantis water park on a very extremly hot day, think it was about 53 out there, and there was this family with 2 kids and a maid, the kids swam while the father lay with his drink under a umbrella and the mother on the blackberry, the maid was in jeans and a long sleeve top, standing in the sun next to the boss, she only had water and was sweating so much i nearly pushed her in the water. I felt so bad and sad for her. Why are people so cruel, we are human right. :( You may need to open a new thread for this topic. im tempted, but ones enough, for now...... good.. in a world where it's not perfect. Thats just my point, the world is not perfect, doesnt mean im going to stand by and watch it fall apart, stand up and speak out. You said the following in one of your posts when you were trying to sell an airline ticket under your name. Maybe it will make you feel better if you will apply it, try to understand first what other people maybe going through. 'you dont know me or what my intentions are so i dont appreciate the judging.'

My children now go to one of the schools rated before by KHDA as outstanding. If we did not get a place, they would be in Horizon or somewhere else better for my children. I still have friends in that school and somehow this school did not do what they promised, i.e. 23 children max per class.. my friend was so frustrated that there were 25 in her daughter's class. Aside from that, they did not get a chance to select the teachers - fine but some did.. like children of some teachers... aside from the fact that they go to DAA for free these parents were granted their wish to select the teachers of their children to think that those who were not able to select were paying the full fees.. it was sad to leave the school because of the friends my children made there.. it was a good school but for us we have to face the reality that there were a lot better schools than DAA. We realised that when I saw the quality of education my children are getting from their new school.

we have a maid and we still try to be with our kids but somehow we may need to understand the situation of these families.. there may be some reasons that we just do not see especially with the current economic climate condition. Most mums would love to spend time with their children as much as possible but sometime they cannot be with their children all the time.

Everyone is different but take this as my own experience only. My children used to go to DAA and we moved them to another school. In terms of my children's schooling, that's one of the best ever decisions made. We pay just a little over 50% of what we used to pay at DAA. Academics / sports - better or equally excellent in the new school. Less focus given on spirits days and no pizza days each month. Hardly we get a day off- they tried to schedule teachers' training close to school breaks, they literally stick to the schedule advised at the start of the year. A lot of the teachers have been working for the school for years so they seem happy working for this school. I am happier and so are my children.

Another vote for Shangrila Mactan in Cebu. You can fly to Cebu direct via Catahy Pacific or Qatar airways.

Due to financial difficulty, we are selling our block of land at Alamanda, Point Cook Australia. It's in front of the park, only 2 blocks of land in that street, 574sqm land, 16m front. If you know someone's interested in buying/investing on a property in Melbourne, Australia, please let me know. Thanks.
