My daughter is leaving Dubai (Yippee) and wondered if anyone wanted to take over he lovely villa. It is in Garden View Villas, is a 3 bedroom with maids room, a garden and gate for security. The rent is AED 165,000 per year or AED 156.75 if it's one check, plus all of the usual deposits, the landlord is Nakheel and the maintenance is brilliant. They have loved living there and have lovey neighbours. Available mid. June.

Yes, my dear husband is being forced to sell his baby as we are leaving Dubai after 36 years. It's a classic BMW, 7 Series, 1999 model and it runs like a dream. It's only AED 12,000 ono so a bargain. Call me on 050 4521192. Thanks

Sorry, the tumble dryer went yesterday. No, condenser dryers don't leave clothes damp. Quite the opposite, they don't fill your room with steam from the wet clothes, the water collects in a container at the bottom. We have an American style fridge freezer, dishwasher, 2 bedrooms sets, garden furniture, huge gas BBQ, shed and lots of plants to sell by the end of the month. Oh, and 2 cars, a Ford Explorer and a classic BMW (old, but loved). Call me

We used the Creek Golf Club. The prices were good, i.e. they didn't double the price for food when the word "wedding" was mentioned. The building was fabulous, with a sail on the top, but we sat outside under the stars on the balcony, the views spectacular and the staff were lovely. Check it out.

I belong to a social runnng group called Hash house harriers look up our website on www.deserthash.org It is a running club with a drinking problem or it may be a drinking club with a running problem, but drinking isn't mandatory, it's up to you. We are a ver social group and always welcome new members as Dubai is a very transient place, people come and go all the time. There are lots of parties, camping trips, brunches, bowling evenings, curry club and other activities you can join in with. We have members who live in the Maria who would probably give you a lift. Call one of the numbers on the website. Lastly but not least, we do have serious runners who take part in marathons, half marathons, wadi bi etc, so you can definitely have a good run if you want to. We meet every Sunday evening an hour before sunset and run in a different place every week. Good luck

Yes, we did but it was secured against our UK property. It made life so much easier, we could say there was no mortgage on the house here to all of the authorities who want their cut plus the biggest plus was our interest rate was about 1%. Good Luck.

I had to put my 5 penny worth in here - my grandson who has an English Father and Chinese Mother didn't say a word for the first 2 years although he understood everything we said to him. He did a lot with sign language too. He went to China for a month and was completely immersed in the Chinese language with the family over there. Apparently, he had to share his Mummy's bed in China because when he got to our house, and saw the sleeping arrangements suddenly said "I want to sleep in Mummy's bed". A huge sentence for his first one! Up until then he only said Mamma and Dadda. Give your little one time, it takes time to digest three languages. I'm sure he speech will come - when he's ready. Good luck.

Totally agree with Cornish Pixie. McGrath have made many rings for me and my fa,ly, some from scratch and some using our own old rings or diamonds and we've been over the moon with absolutely everything. I couldn't recommend any one else any higher.

We use "Job's Done". We live in the Ranches and they know our villas and we often see their vans around. They are a fairly new company and very keen to please. They've just retired one of our bathrooms, ad the tiles were put up with building cement and we're all cracking and falling off. They were very quick and did a brilliant job and cleaned up afterwards. Tel: 050 4560152

We've been here for 35 years and have gotten through quite a few water coolers from the supermarkets and then I found Oasis, they are much better quality coolers and they do repairs on them. We've had our current one for over 10 years! You can choose a cooler from their website and they will deliver it free. I've even bought one for a housewarming present, and it went down brilliantly. Like you, I like my water at room temperature but it's nice to have cooled water for visitors who like their water that way. They also deliver replacement water bottles, every week on a regular basis but if you run out mid week, they will also deliver, for free. Their website is Oasiscome2life.com. I can't recommend them highly enough. P.S. We buy books of vouchers, so we just put out our empty bottles with a voucher in it and don't have to leave cash on our doorstep.

The supermarket at Arabian Ranches, who normally stock them but hasn't for the last 3-4 months, informed me that they have now been banned! They have to get LCD replacements which are on order but cost Dhs 130 - Dhs 140 each (but should last longer). They are supposed to call me when they come into stock. I thought I was the only one looking for these light bulbs! BTW Ace don't stock them! Ridiculous isn't it?

After many visitors walking through my mesh doors over the years I've finally got a material fly screen door from the UK (Amazon.co.uk) and it is the best thing since sliced bread. It sticks to the door frame with double sided tape and you just walk through it and the magnets join it together again when you are through. Our dog comes and goes as she pleases but the mossies do not. Its absolutely brilliant. My brother 'found' it at the Ideal Home Exhibition. No more expensive fly screen repairs every time we have visitors.

I second Definitely get your car seats in Aus before you come over. I have been looking for a new car seat and done some research and if you buy them here, they are made in China, who definitely don't have the same BEAB Safety Certification. I'm just looking for a car seat for occasional trips, as I am just the Granny, but I still want a good, safe car seat. My good old trusted Britiax car seat buckle gets jammed which is a shame as the rest of the seat is perfect. I've been looking for a second-hand one but people want more for a well used one here than I can buy a new one for in the UK so I may just have to wait a couple of months before I can go back to the UK and get one. Definitely bring from Australia!

My nephew arrived in Abu Dhabi the other day and wanted to visit us in Dubai. We heard about the bus service to Dubai and suggested he came by bus. When he got to the bus station in Abu Dhabi the queue for tickets was so long he missed the bus so he came by taxi which was very expensive. So, I took him to the bus station at Ibn Battuta at 3.45pm yesterday for the 4pm bus back to Abu Dhabi. The bus was there waiting to leave, but was already full and we were directed to the end of the queue, about 100 people there before us. I asked the security guard when the next bus was due and he said we wouldn't get on the 5pm bus but may be lucky with the 6pm bus. Why doesn't the RTA put on more buses when its so busy and they can make much more money? We went to the taxi stand to get a taxi and no driver would take him because they change shifts at 5pm and weren't allowed to go to AD as they wouldn't be back in time for shift change? I drove my nephew to Abu Dhabi myself as I wouldn't leave him at Ibn Battuta to fend for himself, i deposited him in AD before he'd have got on a bus in Dubai.

I second the Fruit and Veg Market - just follow the signs on the old Emirates Road, mow called Sheik Mohammed Bin Zayed Road. I get them for a few dirhams each and they have a mountain of them for you to choose the shape and size you want. I usually pay 4-5 dirhams each . Brilliant value and great fun to take the kids there.

Hi Kitten, Ideally they would like a 4 bedroom but that would probably be too expensive so 3 beds plus maids would be good (maids room for in laws when they visit). Open to any area that gives the above. We live at Arabian Ranches so near to us would be good, but that is purely selfish on my part. How much are Akoya, I believe they are pretty central? Nearer to town and school would also be good. Open to any area really. Thanks in advance.

You could also take it to the sports shop in Times Square, they guys there are incredibly helpful, will pump up tyres for free and will do repairs really cheaply often whilst you wait. I bought a new tyre and they fitted it for something like Dhs 10.

Well done Lesley Culley for all the lives you have saved with your campaign. We all totally understand why you have deiced to end your campaign. It is easy to count the number of infant and child deaths that have resulted from children not being restrained in car seats or with seat belts, their little bodies can be counted in morgues, hospitals, being repatriated to their home countries to be buried near the family and friends. These can be counted. What cannot be counted is all of the babies and children who are still here, to run around with their families and friends, BECAUSE THEY WERE RESTRAINED IN THE CARS that were involved in accidents. The children who had near misses, but survived because of their car seats and being buckled up. Well done Lesley. You made a difference for sure. We all applaud you.

I did a search and found that Pepsi had vouchers last year. The amount of Pepsi my Dh drinks, we should get 5 free entry tickets haha. Any ideas would be gratefully received. Thanks.

Your personal Christian books and Christmas items will be no problem. When we came 34 years ago, Christmas wasn't celebrated here, but now there are Nativity Scenes in all of the Malls. As for your toiletries, there wasn't a Boots Chemist here all those years ago, but now there are plenty so you can get most things. With most heavy toiletries the cost of shipping them far outweighs the cost of finding a good alternative here. I understand about the nappies, they are light to ship and cheaper to buy in the UK. Even toilet rolls, same goes if you have a favourite brand. Having said all that, I do go home with an empty suitcase and bring it back full of goodies that are either not available here, or cost a huge amount here, and of course you get so much more selection in the UK. One thing I would suggest you bring is birthday cards and wrapping paper. There isn't much choice here and what they have cost about seven times the cost in the UK. So I go through the racks when I'm home and bring, Brother, Sister, New Baby, Our Anniversary, Sister's 69th Birthday, Mum, Granddaughter, Grandson etc etc. you'd be lucky to find a good 79th Birthday Card over here for instance. Its so easy when you have an event to go to, or even one you need to send a card home to, to just open your box and see what you have there. There is always Moonpig if you leave it a bit late to send, but that's not so personal. Good Luck with your move.
