I saw them in the Park & Shop in Tecom a few weeks ago - in the Pork Section! (they must have come over with meat). Also seen them in Lulu Al Barsha - but that was a while back.

You can pick them up from Knowledge Village 0900 - 1800 every day until close of play Thursday. On Friday you can pick them up from 3pm at the "event gate" but the doors don't open until 6pm.

Looking forward to going too, and I think it must be open as someone has posted this (not great) review on TimeOut: [i'>Maincourse: a sirloin steak 8oz with a bit of rocket on the side, no potatoes AED 130. Many things on the menu (including most of the deserts) where not available. A can of coke AED 18. As a friend mentioned " never ever again". Very disappointing indeed. [/i'>

Get yourself onto Al Khail and just before the lights at the new Saudi German hospital veer right towards Barsha. Just keep going over the lights until you reach Al Mawakeb school at which point you should take a right and then left onto a dirt road, and the park gates are there.

Great stories ladies – I stayed up far too late last night reading this thread! Here’s mine…. A few weeks ago I went into Marina Pharmacy in the Greens in a massive rush seconds before it closed to get some Voltaren for joint pain in my shoulder, so…. straight to the “Pain Relief” display and picked up the nearest packet that said 50mg. Young Shop Girl: “Maam are you sure those are the ones you want?” (waving 75mg ones at me to take instead) Me: “Yes! I’ve taken these before! I don’t want to be swallowing 75mg at a time thank-you!” (exits shop like a know-it all) (At home) Open packet – pop out a pill - blimey it’s GINORMOUS, not like the last ones, and all waxy too…….Oh flip, I’ve picked up the suppository version! So after a few minutes contemplating using a couple as earplugs I resigned myself to an uncomfortable night. Next day – back in the Pharmacy. YSG “MAAAAAAM you need MORE supowotrees??!!” (very very loudly in front of several customers!) I get knowing looks every time I go in there now and I’m sure they think I put 5 volaterns up my jacksie overnight :-0 Would love to know what they’ve nick-named me!

I put my hazards on when I see someone waiting, so the car behind me doesn't rear-end me! I emailed the RTA to ask them to consider moving the crossings.....WHY are they RIGHT on the roundabouts, when drivers are looking for an entry and exit gap!? In the Greens for example, if they moved the zebras a few metres back from the roundabouts it would be so much safer. I got "your email has been received and the issue dealt with" (not) Sigh....

Thanks Pomegranate. I think I only (had) about 500 squids in Bonds in the UK - from 18, 21, 25, 30, 35 birthday presents - and so I do REALLY well as I often "win" small amounts (YES I DO fill in tax returns!) but you've just compounded my belief that the Bonds aren't secure here....and that's why I never bought. My understanding in the UK was that they are pretty much safe. Seems like they are "pegged" here. Blimey their website really is awful - I just tried again and clicked on "female" .......oh dear. Best to get it out and move it around by the looks of things - especially for 3.78 :-(

3.78%, that's disappointing. Banks have been consistently offering higher rates for term deposits over the last year. And now with the new changes to the system, I'll be taking mine out ASAP. This is what I think put me off last time... I can't quite remember. I just had a look at their very unappealing website and I'm none the wiser, but I know I heard some not very positive stories in 2008 which is why I didn't buy any bonds. Anyone got more of an update or experience?

Is it exactly the same as the UK Premium Bonds? I win 25 quid most months in the UK and got 100 last month - and I have very few bonds... I seem to remember reading about this when I arrived in Dubai and something put me off - IS it the same?

Custard Apple I can't agree more... I was "above my age" (whateva) with reading...and read so many apparently adult books..... If you are ready for it, you wil take it on board, if you're not, then you won't - and you will decipher it accordigly. Much like life really. I remember having read most of the adult section of the library in my village as a child as the librarian could see me coming back for more every week - I think when I resorted to the "baby names" out of curiosity for a friend in a fix, my mum raised her eyebrows...... In the main - I was brought up to read - and to enjoy everything.... And you can't censor that.

Sorry - I AM confusing (working in Sharjah will do that to you at the end of the week)! Seen JH loads of times in the UK - well worth going to see :-) Just heard from friend....she saw James Morrison last year which would have been a "big name" and she said that the "standing" area was great - plenty of room to sit and chill on the grass - but still room to boogie too. Capacity for standing is 4,500 so I think that's what I'm going for too.

Oh sorry DesertRose I have no idea - I haven't been to the Jazz Festival before - although friends that went last year only got the least expensive (standing) tickets and they didn't complain - they said it was brilliant. Looking at the venue layout I think I will go for Middle Seat as a preference, then standing. Only got the muts nuts tickets for Amy as it was a Christmas present for my Amy obsessed friend (and what an Indian giver I am getting her that for Christmas! Ha!) Let me contact friends who went last year and get back to you.

It's awful....I lasted 20 minutes before nearly passing out from claustrophobia (and lack of a drink - impossible to get served). As Dally says, it's really dangerous - if anything happened no-one would be able to get out. It's rammed and very badly laid out. That said, some of my friends love it. I won't be giving it a second chance. We tried the Goodfella's there last night too for some food and ended up eating nothing. My friend was served a pie with raw pastry and I had the Cob salad which was meant to have salad, chicken, beef bacon, eggs, blue cheese and onion. When it came it was a bowl of iceberg with 2 strips of chicken on top. Bah.

Agree with DollyMud - Smeg is seriously high maintenance. For the steel - use baby wipes and towel residue off or baby oil on cotton wool.

Sorry I only just saw this.. I would say everything is last season as it's at the outlet mall - but I don'tknow as I'm not a fan of Burberry or any "brand" really! I too was looking for a friend. I saw a pink scarf with the check which was nice- about 700d I think and some purses with the check inside :-) Can't remember how much they were as they were really impractical - key loops and card holders only - but lovely quality - they were cheaper - so probably about 500d. Wait till DSF and go with cash!

Cellar is lovely - all made a la carte from the menu so not strictly "brunch" as such - but personally I don't like seeing mountains of food - puts me off! Its about 130 for 1 glass and all food or 200 for drinks and food.

I had a chap from Du come the other day to check the recorder box - which he got working within about 20 seconds. I asked him if he wanted water and he said "I Need Tea And Sugar!" Fair enough - but the box was now working! So, down he sat, while I made him a brew and he turned to the horse racing to "monitor the programme signal". When it finished I then had a 10 minute telling off for not having at least 2 children! Hahahah!

From Lincolnshire and we're known as "yellowbellies" Nice - please explain :) Lots and lots of theories - (many of them derogatory) including references to yellow bellied newts and eels in the fens / colour of the local militia waistcoats / colour of the old stage coach, and my favourite: Famers working in the sun with no shirts getting brown backs but with white tummy's. The reflection of oil seed rape in the fields reflected on their tummy's - hence "yellowbellies" :-)

I see... I suppose there's some of that in Aus too but I've always preferred the authentic restaurants that cater less to western tastebuds! Also... CHIPS AND CURRY?! Wow. That's a new one! Best Chinese in Dubai is Lan Kwai Fong which is near Lamcy Plaza. Owned and run by a Hong Kong Chinese. They do the most amazing Peking Duck.

jwal you were right....it was very mediocre... it was "nice" (pet hate word of mine) but really nowt much. We had: Crispy Honey Chilli Chicken which himself said was nice - I didn't even try it as deep fried little bits of meat like that really doesn't do it for me. When I told him I would be reporting back to you esteemed lot he said "It was lovely.....but missing something...I'm not sure what...and I'm not in a rush to go back". Earthquake balls... quite liked these - thanks Sniffy! But they were a bit soggy when they arrived - bet they're lovely fresh - we went for "medium" and they had a quite a bit of poke (basically ground chicken with spice). I had the JM Special Chicken - which turned out to basically be the above chicken mix wrapped in a Bernard Matthews type chicken shell but with a very lovely sauce including lots of cashews - and I enjoyed for what it was. Egg fried rice (himself waved to me when I was on the phone to say "no sweetcorn" as he hates it and I said "when have you ever had sweetcorn in "egg fried rice"?" Sure enough it had sweetcorn in it - However - it was very well cooked - with spring onions too - and I had the lot to myself :-) Very nicely cooked rice actually. Prawn Crackers - I'm not kidding we got a SACK (as in the biggest Geant bag) of these and they weren't half bad. As you can see we didn't exactly push the boat out in terms of our order! I've been ill and I wasn't gonna go mad. The phone procedure was a doddle - the girl was brilliant - and I was a first time orderer - and it came really promptly. I reckon if you know your stuff Chinese Food wize and you can tell them what you really really want this place could potentially be good. However for me, a "seen it on the menu" orderer, everything should be great..... the quest continues, and jwal, you have a couple of "ner ners" to me :-) WHEN will we find a perfect Chinese takeout! edited by ShellyMcD on 08/01/2011 edited by ShellyMcD on 08/01/2011
