I did as well. Gave birth to DD there 2 years ago. Like KID said, I also had a pleasant experience. What exactly do you want to know?

My DD fell off bed too also when she was 7 months old. I didn't bring her to the doc. She actually cried for a sec then stopped and only started crying back again when she saw me crying. :D She's 2 1/2 now. Alhamdulillah, she is ok. DH told me that babies are tough. :D

I was swimming with my kids in the Ritz Carlton and DH spotted a man taking pics of DD and I. He called security and they brought the camera over to DH so that he could view and delete them himself....and lets just say the pics were zoomed in to certain areas and not innocent at all. In the end the police had to come and take him as he had over 4000 pics of women and children taken in various places in Dubai. He was on a tourist visa but ended up having his stay extended at the Dubai Hilton .... I am sure he was happy to finally leave a few months later. OMG!! that's horrible!! thank you for being alert. Now I'm wondering if he had taken my DD's photo in that camera. 4000 shots? I'm am speechless

Please talk to the principal asap. Don't get other parents involved. I'm only saying because there was one article in the local paper where one parent got other parents involved with what a teacher/school did to her/his son but it backfired where the parent was actually named and shamed in that local paper. (not sure if anyone else remembers that) It was also mentioned in the paper that the governing body actually recommends you talking to the principal asap and not get anyone else involved, as the proper action to take.

From my experience there’s no issues with Malaysians doing visa run as we get visa on arrival. However it’s not advisable to do it a lot of times, probably the max is 3 times why do you say that max is only 3 times? I know some people who's done it more.

My husband and I are both useless... weekends come around and we potter the morning away wondering what to do and then its too late to do anything at all and I do NOT want that happening this long weekend. Already left it a bit late for booking anything half decent most likely but anyway... we figured we'd do a brunch one day (probably Atlantis as that's nice and tame and we have my mum and LO with us), maybe finally check out global village as have not yet been, maybe go to the beach if it's not too cold, definitely do a dinner out one night since we have my mum here to babysit! What's everyone else - who isn't going away - up to? Just looking for ideas of things to do as a family during the day. Many thanks We usually head down to Zabeel park. Always plenty of space, great mix of nationalities, there's a fab play area for older kids ( and lots of smaller ones for little ones), boat lake, go karts etc. think it's gate 1 we normally park at Al Jafillia side furthest gate right you can get to. There's also a new petting zoo/equestrian centre just opened in Sharjah that looks very interesting. The new water park at AD is ope I think. GV will be super busy tomorrow, make sure you are there for 4pm opening. Last weekend the tailbacks on the weekend to exit were unbelievable! Hi MM, Can you please tell me where is that petting zoo in sharjah? or do you happen to know the link to the site? That is a fabulous idea to bring DD and snap some shots! :) Thanks

Im seriously worried now about the damage my negativity could cause me both mentally and physically. I am wondering whether any of you ladies succeeded in turning their thoughts to positive. How long did it take and could you maintain it? Any tips, reading, advice are highly appreciated. I take it that you are related to this young person? My DD has DH's family name and I didn't take DH's last name. Been doing visa runs for a while now, and no one has ever asked anything. :D Yes, my nephew! :D Thanks for the advice should be ok then. :D

I don't see why not. As long as he/she has her own passport and his/her passport is the kind where you can get visa upon arrival.

When I first did that, I didn't immediately leave the room after putting DD in her cot at night. I put her in, and sat down with a book. I told her that it's night time, and I will be here to keep her company until she sleeps. The first few times, she cried and stood up. But I didn't carry her. I just told her, see Mummy's here and will be here, so don't worry. Just close your eyes and sleep honey. After 3 nights, she learnt it and after a week, she slept straight away. heh. Oh, I also had a night light for her. Hope this helps. xx

My pan came with it. But a small Taflon coated pan should do this trick. Or a small cake tin would also work. Lasagna by Philips tomorrow :) [i'>Philips AirFryer, the answer is yes! :D[/i'> lasagne? wow!! I think you need to do a cookbook!! :)

I guess the way a thread about rude behavior towards people in the services industry changes into a thread where EW complain about those same people just says it all!! Not the ladies here are evil. You must admit that some of the people hired for the service industry is simply 'empty' or rather 'this is what i must say and will not use my brain to think logically'. like yesterday, I went into McD at 10.58am and I asked if they were still serving breakfast. The guy at the till said no you can order burgers now. When I proceeded to order my quarter pounder meal, he interrupted me and said only chicken available. I calmly repeated what he told me he then said 2 3 minutes. I didn't understand what he was trying to say. When the manager stepped in, the situation was somehow turned to make ME the bad person when it was a puppet actually serving me!!! My point is I am sure us EW ladies don't come into shops and literally scream at service staff without a valid reason. I have been in the service industry and the ones here are trully appalling.

Is that SMS or whatsapp? Did you try calling your daughter using the same number as what you are texting? I know it sounds silly but you may have missed the + sign or country code or maybe you are supposed to omit a certain number. try calling, if it goes thru then use that same sequence to send and sms...it should go thru then x

Hi Atlan, No one can tell you what is 'normal' for your child, there is no thing. Each child just like each of us are different. If your child is goin through a bad eating phase it will pass eventually. But in the mean time if a little bit of tv or games gets her into a good eating cycle and it works for you, go for it. Some suggestions are the Pbs shows from the us, like superwhy and cat in the hat, they are educational and have great learning oppurtunities. Regarding apps, ones like Music Sparkles, paint sparkles and kids phone are also fun and educational. There is also a great Duplo one too. Remember dont be discouraged all kids go through phases and it will pass too. Hang in there. Try slowly wean her off the ipad reliance when shes plumped up a bit maybe. Good luck My DD is like that. Same age. Absolutely fussy eater. I disagree with your post. It's not good practice to allow small children to watch telly to get them to eat, much research to support that and of course common sense. You have not mentioned the key issue of why the child is losing weight, surely this needs addressing first. If that has been addressed and it is advised ourtside stimulation may help then surely it would be adviseable to find a range of sources rather than one in order to avoid the weaning off issues that will occur? Every child is different I agree, but how do you know her bad eating phase will just pass? How exactly does using TV encourage good eating practice?

I was interested on this DINO when i saw the one displayed near the escalator down from ikea. But it seems a waste of money, anyway, there's no harm for the child to experienced it, its just a viewing and sight seeing. BUT If talking about children amusement in festival city, i couldn't agree more and i hate to go there to bring my 33mos DD specially the playground near toy's r us aside from being expensive 1hr fees of 50Dhs, it has poor lighting, it looks dirty because of the poor lighting's. I am not comfortable bringing my child there. I even scouted the etihad mall kiddiville, though its far from my side, but its huge and clean area, and cheaper 15dhs per hr. There are designated staff in every corner as watchers but they are not there to be a nanny for your kids. oh.. i've never been to etihad mall. thanks for the tip. I'll have a venture with DD next time. :D

Ermm.. no. He shouldn't ill EVERY week. However, do bear in mind that some parents still send their child even if their child is 'sick'. What I do is make sure DD wears layers in nursery as they play outdoors and indoors. I realise that their ac is pretty high in class. I always have a cardi in DD's bag and at home I increase her Vit C. But they do get sick more often than just being at home.

My 18 month old sleeps from approx 7pm until 6am but is waking at least twice for milk and drinking around 7oz (14 in total!). I have offered water but only results in 2 hrs of hysterical crying. Am I being weak? Has my LO got me wrapped around his little finger or is this genuine hunger? He has a good appetite during the day and eats nearly as much as my 6 year old! I would be interested in different opinions on this. perhaps your LO's metabolic rate is very high and burns food very quickly. What time is dinner? Do you give milk before bedtime? I can't remember at what age you can stop night feed. :D

Perhaps you talk to her and say that you will have a super fun day at school spending time with teachers and friends. And I got this super useful tip from a friend who said, don't say good bye when you drop her off. say ok have fun, see you later!!' and when you pick her up, say hi!! with a big smile like you are super excited to see her. she mimics your reaction, if you are sad when picking her up, she will be the same too. At home, I talk to DD and ask her what did she do in school and get her really excited to get back tomorrow. DD was like that the first couple of days. Now she drops my hand and the door to rush into her class. oh, when drop off, if there is an assistant to welcome her and if she says to your DD, ok say bye to mummy, tell the assistant to change and say see you later instead. It works!! :D

Do you have a company-only approved medical facility? Also, how many sick leave days do they have? When I was flying, I could only go to the company doctor. If I was too sick to go to the doctor, I had to go to the hospital to get a sick note to which I had to immediately fax it over to the doctor to get it attested. We did have frequent sick staff, to which they had to meet with , i can't remember which department, as company is 'concerned' with their health.

Hello ladies I changed my doctor and I can delivery either city hospital or intenational Modern hospital. My previous dr. Purnima is nice, but I find dr. Nirmala nicer :) so, will stick with her till delivery :) With regards to mternity ward/services? Which is better? City or IMH? Do they all private rooms? Or depends on the room availability? I heard that IMH have two rooms each (one for the mother and one for the guess) not sure though if this is across all maternity ward. We will have a tour next Saturday but would appreciate if you can share your experiences Thanks edited by Hassli on 28/10/2012 I delievered at IMH, and yes, all maternity wards are suites. Even bigger than American Hospital. So, you can have your own private room while your guests can chill at their own lounge while still being in the same room. Not sure about City, perhaps other posters can help.

Forgot to mention I would need something no further than Downtown as most of us live Marina/Greens area etc and I just looked at the link and I think it is the Le Meridien at the airport which is too far especially through traffic on a Thursday night. Thanks everyone! You can always hire a limo for a hen's do . Meet up where the common ground is, bring a bottle or 2 for warm up drinks in the car and if the driver is smart, there are other ways to get to the airport apart from SZR. Maybe a longer way but sure beats the stopping and starting at the traffic jam.

Do you mean you want to hire a professional photographer to capture the moment or it's just a home camera taken by DH or doula? I have shots taken when DD took her first breathe and yes I did my doctor way in advance. Not sure about the prof photographer altho I do know that in other countries it's an in thing now. :D S
