English Rose British Nursery. No racism in that nursery. When my daughter was there for the last 2 years, we had all sorts of colours in that school.

I don't know what time Emirates Nursery close but English Rose is now closed for Ramadhan. So have a look at British Rose Nursery ( which is closer to the football stadium). They are opened from 8-1pm.

My daughter was in English Rose, now known as British Rose Nursery Branch. The main one is close by too. When I was going around looking for a nursery, I fell in love with English Rose as the staff is really welcoming and warm while the others.. well.. the first thing they talked about is the fees. Have you talked to them yet? Go and have a look into British Rose Nursery. They have a summer thing going on. You'll love it there. S

Hi moglet! We moved to al hamra last August and it has just been pure bliss since then. Life here is very different from dubai... Slower pace, super friendly locals, much cheaper rents, etc. We had a gas stove installed when we moved in. We live in a remodelled three bed house and our landlord modified the kitchen, so the only thing we needed to do was to call al hamra maintenance. The stove was about half a centimetre bigger than the space provided, but the employees just fixed the problem within an hour. When we moved in, we got an information brochure with useful numbers on it. I have to say, we have called al hamra maintenance hotline numerous times and they show up within the half hour, get the job done and their rates are very cheap. They put up curtain poles, exterminated ants, replaced our lock from the outside gate and replaced our water heaters, every time quick and effective work! Regarding rak hospital, I had a very bad experience there with an OB/GYN.... It was such a ludicrous experience that I now share it with friends as a "can you believe it...?" Story. Sorry, but based on my experience and my friends experiences, I would definitely not recommend rak hospital and encourage you to find someplace else if you can. Shjbelle, regarding rents, we are paying 85000 for a remodelled three bed house. Our friends are living in a four bedroom house (but the bedrooms are fairly small) and they are paying 75000. Depending on the location (close to the lagoon/the beach/golf course views/sea views/installed pool/landscaped garden), you will find that prices will change. Also, keep in mind that rental contracts are different here, the landlord is only required to give you one months's notice and (in our contract, don't know if it's a general rule) our contract also states that the whole house needs to be repainted when we leave. There is also no such thing as rera or the rent committee, so make sure you are on good terms with your landlord, that helps :) Thanks for that. I tried looking at dubizzle and saw totally different prices as what you've mentioned. I am currently in Sharjah and rents are about the same..only SEWA is a killer.. so this is fab news to tell DH. lol lol :D

I brought my own car seat for the dune rides with my 3 year old. I would not suggest to ride the dunes for the baby, you can speak to the driver and get one parent and baby dropped off at the side before the 4 x 4 gets on the dunes.

Like you, my periods are so irregular, but I have PCOS. My gynae gave me clomid and what nots and , in my case, it didn't work. This is what I did. Then, I went for fertility acupuncture. I also took folic acid pills, religiously for 3 months. Fell pregnant after the 3rd month. Start with the folic acid pills. Good Luck!! S

That is a tough one. Does she know how upset you are? What I don't understand is why or rather how did you managed to get persuaded to spend an additional AED600 for photos you didn't like in the first place? I suggest you tell her the truth, but don't get your hopes too high for a refund or a reshoot. I won't rub in anymore, but do tell her that you won't promote her to anyone you know. Unfortunately, you can't do another newborn shoot unless your little one is still less than 10 days old.. if so, hire another photographer?

I think, DH needs to talk to his mom and talk about boundaries. I remember talking to my mom when I was home, when she told me off for scolding DD. I used this, 'remember how you feel when your mom told you off when you told my older brother off' line. She hated it. But she now knows her line.:D Try that. It may work.

It's easy. Do you have a website already? Or are you looking at free blogs? website: you have to add the app/widget for wordpress.com. If you do a wordpress.org it's chargeable. Or you can open one at blogspot. or blogger. edited by shjbelle on 11/02/2014

I live in the Meadows 6. One afternoon, we were in the pool enjoying ourselves. Then some creepy guy with a long beard rocks up with three completely veiled ladies ( in Burkinis) and his kids. We get out of the pool ( as they were giving us bad looks and I was in my bikini and feeling really uncomfortable anyway) I take 3 year old son and 1 year old daughter to the showers to give them a wash before going home. I turned my back for two seconds and my son ( 3) had taken off his trunks because they were filling with soap. The man went on a tirade against me because my son's willy was showing. He started yelling and screaming that my son was indecent etc. I was so taken aback that I had nothing to say! Usually I am quick with come backs. I just couldn't fathom what this man was so offended about! What was he doing even looking at a 3 year old's willy in the first place. what a looney. Your son's 3 for goodness sake! Seriously. Next they'll be banning breast feeding of young boys lest they see a breast! na ah.. they can't do that.. we have the 'it's mandatory now in UAE to breastfeed a baby' card. whoever are these people who comes up with these regulations really need some reality check.

I will just add my personal experience when moving here. I came originally on a visit visa. I did not have insurance on my first visit. The fees were very reasonable BUT they did insist on copies of my husbands passport, visa and attested marriage license. I think they ask for yours as you are moving here whereas with the OP, they are here just on holiday. My friend came here alone when she was just 12 weeks pregnant. She did not have any problems at all. Some people at 12 weeks may not even show. Having said that, I do agree on the tourist insurance. Just to be on the safe side. Also, to get a 'fit to fly' certificate from her doctor.

Hi ladies I wonder if anyone can help me please. We are looking to host a movie night at school and are trying to find out if we need to pay for a license to show the film (Despicable me). In the UK we had to pay for a one off public use license but I am struggling to find an answer here. We are a new school with 80% + of mums new to Dubai so no one has a clue!!! thank you in advance not sure about that. why don't you check with the right municipality? Another option is to hire a cinema?

, if someone has a heart attack, they are first aid trained only and usually require a Dr on board to step in, if someone acts out of line then yes they step in. ! I would naturally think that a doctor would have a better judgement to assist in any medical incidents as he/she actually studied in depth about medicine right? If there isn't any doctor on board, there are then procedures to follow. I agree that that flight attendant shouldn't have said whatever he said about pepsi and it's absolutely silly. I'm sure he gotten himself into huge meetings in the office. Having said that, cabin crew do have loads of safety and security steps to do before you passengers get into the flight, monitor the state of the passengers, the bags etc etc. All done without even you knowing. Might wanna give them more credit than what you actually know. Yes, generally cabin crew do go onto a drunken spree overseas [b'>but you do have those who actually are studying in between and gotten into high positions like yourself after that cabin crew stint.[[/b'>/quote'> I've never been cabin crew?? What gave you that idea? I never said you were a cabin crew. i meant they gotten into high positions in the office like yourself.

@ shjbelle ... the problem usually is that we do not get to the core of the reason behind our child's bad behaviour... if our child is picking the behaviour from another child in school or elsewhere then she/he need to be removed from such company and disciplined through time out etc (but not empty threats and cold stares) proper action... however in my case I was the one she was reacting to and thus evening out my own temperament with her helped a lot... So you need to figure out what is the case in your instance... do you shout at her and react explosively at her behaviour?... My DH used to advice me but being stubborn as i am i actually learnt through experience.. you are the one setting the pitch with which to deal with your child, the child will communicate with you at that pitch, so if you keep increasing the pitch the child keeps getting used to that pitch and its not tough on him any more, in fact the increased pitch is just tough for you to maintain! thanks for that tip. It's not easy but will do it. that keeping calm bit.. (God give me strength) :D S
