Hi Ladies! Hope everyone is doing well :-) Am also having pain in hips but not from sitting at the desk....its from sleeping! I've been using a pillow between my legs for some time now and it was helping but now not so much. Anyone else with this? Sorry Silkie, don't know for sure but I do hope that City is pro natural as I will delivering there as well. I would guess it depends more on your doctor than the hospital right? If doctor knows your preference then she should carry it out.... Hi taurusbaby Which doc are you seeing @ City hosp?

Hi all Nice to see our group is growing & is active! ClareJLT - The heartburn was bad for 2-3 days last week, but thank god, its gone, atleast for now... Just having my dinner a bit early now :-) I dont have pains in hips while sleeping but i have them sitting in office at a stretch for 1-2 hrs... its difficult. At night, its my calves hurting a lot & i cant sleep properly - they are absolutely fine during the day ! Welcome Hana I hope you can cope with the heat & get settled here soon! Which doc are you referring to @ City hosp? I'm planning my delivery there too, but havent started seeing a doc there.. Will do so after 28 weeks. Hi Awayfromhome15 Guess the heat is bothering everyone. My AC temp is @ 20 deg at night - it makes me cold... if i keep it on on 21 or 22, i feel hot! & its not the numbers troubling me - even if my hubby changes the temp without my knowledge, i feel the same... Not sure what to do! To all Its strange that many of you are craving for pineapple - since initially my doc told me to avoid papaya & pineapple during pregnancy! I'm not a fan of pineapple anyways, but was just wondering how come all of you are having it... Since i read so many positive reviews about City hosp, i'm just wondering its worth to know if docs @ City are pro-natural or pushing for c-s? Good luck to all those who are fasting & hope this Ramadan brings more blessings to all of us, our babies & our families!

Hey all Just jumped from Nov thread to this one! I'm due end Nov & all has been ok so far... Scurry77 Yes, i have the same feeling as you after being on desk even for like 1&1/2 hrs at a stretch... Morning begins fine, but as day progresses it really get difficult to be constantly at desk. I then have to walk around... its very difficult during meetings/conferences when you cant just get up & walk!! I'm not sure if its sore or what, but definitely its different & tough!! Also, regarding hospitals, I see so many positive responses for City, here & on other threads... does anyone know if they are pro-natural or pushing for c-s? I've almost finalized City for my delivery but dont want to have a c-s unless absolutely essential. Any advises? Hi Jules! You naughty girl, trying to set up secret meetings!! haha. Its true though that this forum is a bit biased towards SAHM. Us poor 9-5s dont get coffee mornings to meet up at and shoot the breeze... No i didnt make it to yoga- i had a very bad nights sleep on Friday - my hip was killing me and i couldnt get in a comfortable position all night. I woke up feeling very sore and tired and sadly not in the mood for yoga. Im finding my hips are getting sore after a week of sitting at my desk - anyone else getting problems sitting at a desk all day? Baby really doesnt enjoy being at work and likes to take it out on my ribs as well. I am DEF going to go this weekend - i assume its all still running during Ramadan? I think it starts this weekend. x.

I missed to add, last 2-3 days i've started to have this burning feeling from inside (is it called heartburn?) ... Happens usually after the meal... anyone else having this? Good afternoon ladies! Hope you all are doing fine!! Louve - i agree with you on being excluded in the old friend circle for activities - Oh! u cant do this, u cant do tht... as if they want to have all the adventurous plans immediately! ok, i understand we need to be careful, but we can atleast accompany if not participate!! Regarding Ante Natal classes @ City - i was told we dont need to register, just go there, pay & attend... but its always better to re-confirm. Btw, there are ante natal classes on Saturday morning (depending on your trimester) free of charge @ NMC specialty. Since most of us here are in 2nd trimester, it would be 2nd Saturday of every month... Once you enter 3rd trimester, i think its 3rd Saturday every month. No weird/new food cravings for me yet... ! Hi Lilypad It was wonderful to chat with you on gmail. For other ladies who wanna chat, my id is apjani16 at gmail dot com. Add me before its edited by mods! :-) I've already done my 20-week scan now & doc said all is fine! Thank you God! :-) Hoping all will be well in the coming months too! Have a wonderful week (almost weekend) everyone & Ramadan Kareem to all! Oh yes - reduced working hours for all of us who are working... nice, isnt it?

Hi GIngerdee, I delivered at City hospital 6 weeks ago and I couldnt be happier with the experience I had. The hospital feels bran new (I believe it's only 6 years old), is very well equipped and has a great neo natal unit which few hospitals in Dubai have. The midwives are extremely attentive, kind and helpful. My OB is based in Healthcare City, 2 minutes away from the hospital. His name is Dr. George Michailidis and I cannot say enough good things about him. I had a high risk pregnancy and his care and support were just exceptional all along. He always answers his mobile phone which is very reassuring. I had an episode of bleeding on a Friday (which is the weekend here in Dubai) and rushed to the hospital - he came just 5 minutes after I got there. He's a lovely man on top of being a fantastic doctor - I highly recommend him. And one last thing: I had a c-section due to the complication with my pregnancy and I can't believe how barely noticeable my scar is! He really takes his time in stitching you up and the scar looks like the work of a plastic surgeon. Good luck to you with everything! edited by Bibalicious21 on 13/07/2012 Hi Bibalicious21 May i ask how much did the doc charge for delivering in City hosp? i've seen the package @ City without the doc charge & was wondering how much would it round off too.

Hey all Hoping you are all having a wonderful weekend! Hi Toriab82: City hospital has 'maternity tours' every Friday @ 11 am & 4 pm. They show you around the hospital with their facilities & what will happen where... you can ask questions for any doubts you have. Me & my hubby went there today & it was a nice exp. Now its 95% sure i'll deliver there. Its also a 15-20 min drive from our place but i think it should be fine. I'm saying 95% since the remaining 5% i'm keeping for Dubai hosp since i'll be talking to a gynaec in Dubai hosp (my frend knows someone working there) tomo or day after. Hi lilypad28 I'll definitely share my exp after my talk with the doc at dubai hosp, sorry i didnt get time to come online since i've added you. Hi Louve Wonderful you have found a good doc already. I'm booked with a gynaec outside for tomorrow since i asked the city hosp for consultation charge & its AED 500/- - looks high since i'm not covered by insurance for maternity. i'm 20+2 & havent done my 20 week scan yet!! So needed to hurry! I plan to take the city ante natal package once i reach 28 weeks so i'll be familiar with the doc who will be there during my delivery. To all ladies who are still looking - ante natal package @ City is AED 5500/- from week 12 & AED 3600/- from week 28. Have a wonderful Saturday ahead ladies! God bless us & our babies! :-)

Hi lilypad28 Yes, i went through that thread (thanks!) for Dubai hosp. But still concerned as another friend's 2 friends had their deliveries there & were not happy. This friend even mentioned that we expats were given unfair treatment there. Dont know how far is that true! I'm considering City hosp as my other option - will be going for the maternity tour this Friday morning. Hi Toriab82 Welcome to Dubai, EW & congrats on your pregnancy! Since you are at home, probably you could read all the possible articles about pregnancy/birth to pass you time. Sure, it is difficult to adjust with you not knowing anyone much, but its worth a try. Also, some part time hobbies - learning painting/henna etc should help time pass by. Hi ClareJLT Yes, its a wonderful tradition, but to wait for the shopping till the baby arrives is gonna be difficult esp since i pass by all the cuttiieee baby shops with all the baby stuff! :-) But no option... :-) Me too i need a blanket at night, my AC temp is @ 19 deg is another story... :-) To all Hopefully all of you have already started feeling the kick / movement as most of us here are in 2nd trimester. I am feeling the kicks (i think!) or even something moving, & my other colleague who recently delivered, told me, what else could it be! So enjoy the little kicks! :-)

Wow! looks i have missed a couple of replies, just read! Wonderful you all can shop for things before your little bundle of joy arrives. For me, i cant shop as per our tradition (no baby shopping until baby is born!)... so all the initial shopping will be done by my family till i can actually go around looking for things! Wow - Awayfromhome15 & lilypad are due on same date - may be u both end in same hospital at same time! :-) Lilypad - i'm planning to go for the City tour this Friday with my hubby. Also, have heard Aster clinics are good for Gynaecs, any idea? God, i'm actually confused now since i'm not too confident with Dubai hosp. (after being redirected here than Latifa!) I'll also try to insist on Latifa, but not hoping as i had already asked the lady at the counter twice if she can refer me to Latifa. I have gained around 4 kilos so far (20 weeks today) - any idea if its less or more? :-) ClareJLT - I'm lucky with the hot feet as i dont get them, but my feet are always cold since i time i was admitted to hosp for Viral as a kid. Louve - which doc are you booked with @ City? i'm thinking of that as an option.

Hi lilypad28, CABear, nadiarikhaimi Sharing my experience of registration & appointments... Since i stay in Al Nahda Dubai area, i had to go to Al Mamzar health center to register for the health card. Registration process was quite smooth, the lady told me Latifa wouldnt accept me as i fallout of their area. I fall under Dubai hospital area. I was like - Fine - do i have a choice then? so registered anyways. Then she asked me to pay AED 150/- to see the local GP at the clinic itself to get the referral letter for Dubai hosp. The GP saw in about 10 mins, took all my background info & weight/height, etc. She gave me the letter plus other tests to be done at Dubai hosp - including blood tests & ultra sound. I then had to go back to the registration counter to take appt with gynaec in Dubai hosp - they hv given it for 6th Aug! They also told me to call the hosp to book for the U/s test. When i called in the afternoon, they said they can give me appt only 4 days before the appt with gynaec. & i had to pay AED 500/- for the U/s (sounded high for a govt hosp) - yes, at Dubai hosp - we can either pay by visit or take the package. They also told me if i decide to do the test outside, i can just take that report to the gynaec & it is fine. I havent confirmed the u/s appt as i complete 20 weeks today & want to have the test done outside to confirm if everything is ok. Since i'm not finding much info on delivery reviews for Dubai hosp - i'm reconsidering if i should go for it or go to other private hosp. I also do not have insurance, but i want to be in safe hands than experiment. Any comments/reviews?

Hi silkie16, Yes I am considering appointments outside I was just under the impression that I would have earlier check-ups at my local clinic. I thought that check-ups at Latifa would only happen in my 3rd trimester. I have reached my local clinic and was told to simply pick up my paperwork for Latifa appointment. No one could provide me with any information and so I'm quite confused. Also I was given paperwork for blood tests to be done and yet no one can tell me when I'm supposed to do them or where! Hey nadiarikhaimi Probably you need to call Latifa to get your appointment for blood tests/scan like I have been asked to call Dubai hospital for the tests. Usually they will give you appointment for tests 3-4 days before your appointment with the doc. May i ask which private hosp/clinic are you planning to go to for routine checkups?

I recently registered myself at Latifa Hosp for my pregnancy check-ups and birth. I received the sms of my appointment which is after 3months when I'll be almost 30weeks. Is that normal? I thought I would have earlier check-ups at my local clinic. I've tried calling my local clinic but no one's picking up. Hope someone on here can guide me. Hi Nadiarikhaimi I have registered @ my local clinic & i'm referred to Dubai hospital, my 1st appt is after 1 month from today! so i think its pretty normal. Are you not considering the option to having a checkup outside with some other gynaec while you wait for your appt?

Hey all Finally after much search & thinking & consulting, i had decided to go with Latifa hosp for the delivery. Due to long appt timings, i thought i would hv normal check ups with some other gynaec outside. I'm staying in Al Nahda area, so thought Qusais clinic would be the place to check! However, after reaching there this morning, they told me to go to Al Mamzar health center since i fall under a different area. After searching for 20-odd mins, me & my hubby found the clinic. I got myself registered for the health card quite easily (just my passport copy & tenancy contract). Then i was issued a health card (temporary i think since it looks like a visiting card :\: Anyways, they told me that a GP will issue a referral letter to Dubai hospital :\: since Al Wasl/Latifa will not accept me as i don't fall under that area! I didnt pay any registration fees @ Al Mamzar, just AED 150/- to see the GP to get the referral. GP took all background info & with some instrument she used, i could hear the baby's heartbeat :-) Amazing feeling!! :-) GP has asked me to have a u/s first (for which i will call Dubai hosp today afternoon) & with this report to go to the Gynaec in Dubai hosp. & my 1st appointment @ Dubai hosp is scheduled for 6th Aug... yeah! 1 month later! The good thing about Dubai hosp would be we don't have to take the ante natal package in full as advised to me. We can pay per visit/per consultation (will reconfirm once i go there). Okays, so finally having decided on 1 hosp, now i'm confused as to is Dubai hospital also good like Latifa in terms of its expertise & facilities? Any views/info will be appreciated. Is it that i have to re-open the options for private hosp now?

Hey Lilypad I havent yet spoken to the lady to find out the reason for her being induced... I'm not in contact with her directly, so it'll be difficult to find out... 5k/6k per day is actually high :-) for NICU costs, i just hope our babies wont need it & everything would be fine! :-) I'm now a bit hesitant to go to Zulekha coz read (google) that they have a high c-s rate... scary! Hey ClareJLT Thanks for your reply. Its good to know you are comfortable with your doc & found the perfect place already you want to give birth to! Hope my hunt ends soon too :-) Hey Awayfromhome15 Thanks for the info.. i'll try to check City hosp too... Finding a good doc & hosp is seeming like a difficult task now... ! But i hope to settle down with regards to this soon! I've also started swimming a bit after completing 3 & 1/2 months (first trimester was resting time as doc & family said)... Planning to start walking frequently too... To all Coffee sounds great... what say?! :-)

Hey lilypad28 Thanks for your reply. New to this site so i hope this gets posted correctly :-) Yes, i'm looking to check with NMC specialty too since it is near to my place. Thanks for the info on Latifa, i'll go on Sunday probably then... Well, i havent considered the NICU costs yet, are they that high in Medcare/City? By City, which hospital are you referring to? City Hospital, Dubai if i'm not wrong? I've also read that Latifa is no fancy stuff & very busy nurses, but i just want to be in good hands when i'm due, also dont want to be forced/pushed for c-s as what i've read online. So bit nervous & scared. Not yet decided where i'll get my 20-week scan, probably will decide after my research by Sunday :-) Btw, just learned one of my hubby's colleague's wife delivered in MedCare a month ago & their experience was not very great. She was kind-of induced (i guess it is some kind of injection/medicine for contractions - please correct me if i'm wrong) few weeks before her due date & then had to be taken for emergency c-s. Any opinions on MedCare?

Hi everybody... I'm so happy to see so many November-due moms... I'm due last week of Nov (19 weeks preggo currently & this is my first baby) :-) Like many, i am also looking for the right doc/hospital to give birth in Dubai. So far, i took my checkups with Zulekha hosp. Dubai, so far appointments were ok since i changed 3 docs in Zulekha itself - sometimes due to non-availability of doc, sometimes due to unconcerned behaviour towards me. Also, recent searches reveal that they (Zulekha) are more inclined towards pushing for c-s rather than normal birth. Is this true? Has anyone have personal experience (friends/family) delivering in Zulekha? I'm staying very close to Zulekha, so thought it is a nice option esp since i dont have maternity covered with my current insurance. What other options are good? I've heard Al Wasl/Latifa (govt) hospital is best here to give birth as they push for normal deliveries as far as possible. Any experiences to share? I'm planning to spend my Saturday looking for hospital/doc in American hosp, Welcare, Latifa & MedCare. Though it would be expensive, but it'll ensure me I'm in safe hands. Any views or help is greatly appreciated as I'm fast approaching 20 weeks (time for mid-term scan, isnt it?) Good luck to all new mums to be! :-)
