Hi ladies, Wondering if any of you have any good tips for paying off a card faster? I have a card back home & I'm not keen on taking a loan here to cover it then pay back in Dhs,even though the rate for Oz dollars is so high right now... It seems that as soon as I make a payment (I am paying more than minimum) then the interest and insurance comes out not long after and it's pretty much back to where it was before. I've spoken to my bank and while before they were pretty good about helping out, they just say they can't "freeze" my payments for a couple months to help me get ahead. Basically, I wanted to save three or four payments and put them all down in one hit to get it to a level where the next lot of fees won't negate the next payment. They say they can't do this. Because I'm not a resident in Aus any more, I can't get a consolidation loan (I looked anyway, it will only be a benefit if I pay it off over 5 years and I want ti gone faster than that) this month I have some extra money which I'm planning to put on the card. My question is, am I maybe better off to just keep it aside, and do the same next month with any extra, then put it on the card then, while making the min payment when due? Do you think that would help at all? I'm considering cancelling the insurance on the card but I'm worried murphy's law will kick in and something will happen if I do :/

I once discovered an site that showed you pics of hot to butcher & clean a chicken, the guy mentioned something about a little sac in the chicken that helps them with digestion.. he said something along the lines of if it's been ill it can put out a yellowy liquid... I wonder if this is what it was? In any case I would let them know, perhaps a batch of chickens was ill and the butcher missed it.... THis Al Rawdah, is it in most supermarkets? (Co op etc)

Well as it's in Dubai I couldn't say if it's a good price or not, if it's something you want to do and you can afford it then why not?

Try using food colouring in the mashed potato, my mum did this with me and I never turned it downafter that!! You can let them choose the colour, or try making 'faces' or 'sheep' with the pie & mash... e.g. carrot sticks for legs etc

Not really- not doing something at al land doing it late are two different things... If they highlight your hair and it's not quite what you wanted, it's not really a reason to not pay. Not doing it at all or messing it up completely, then yes, reason to not pay....

Has anything changed? Could she be stressed about something? We had a cat who was nervous and very 'jumpy'- he'd do this when he was upset. Turned out there was an underlying medical condition which when fixed, stopped the peeing (not only in his bed but everywhere else he went) Have you asked your vet? If s/he knows your dog well they might be able to tell if it could be a stressor.

Angelina, do YOU want to be the one who causes the guy to lose a (not inconsiderable amount to him) fee? I'd rather be the "poor sucker" who 'caves' then take someone else's food money!

What you need is something called "Urin-Off" (usually can buy from vets but not sure if anyone in Dubai stocks it. I think you can buy online) and a black light. If you don't remove it all, the smell will remain. We had a cat with nervous problems who used to wee everywhere when scared, we tried everything!!! It was amazing what the light shows up, we found places he'd "been" that we'd never even have guessed! If it's in the grouting though I'm not sure what you can do except replace. But if that's too expensive for you, might be worth trying this stuff. [url= http://urineoff.com/pet.php'>link[/url'> edited by SkyKitty on 02/04/2012

I know I've seen them recently but do you think I can remember where?! I think it was actually a Fujifilm Instax, I think it was maybe at one of those gadget kiosks on the bottom floor of Dubai Mall, but amsure you can get them elsewhere. Grand Digital stores maybe? They seem to be the "supplier" to everyone else.... Souk.com has some but I think they're a bit expensive [url=http://uae.souq.com/ae-en/fujifilm-instax-mini-7s-white-instant-film-camera-polaroid-+-one-pack-of-film-20-pics-4026209/i/'>link[/url'> edited by SkyKitty on 02/04/2012

Normally I would agree Tru Blu however I spoke to their new director who was brought in from the states to deal with all the "mess" -that was mroe than a month or two ago and so far not much improvement..... Feel sorry for the delivery guys who work for a different company. Since they never turned up on time I told their manager I didn't think it was fair to make me pay delivery when they never came on the appointed day and he threatened to dock the courier's pay! Jerks.... had no choice but to pay it, but.... grrrrr. If you can't provide the service on the dates given, be prepared to waive your fees!!! especially for someone like me who sits at home waiting for them, on my day off, and they don't turn up!!

I have one that you can switch, it's a paid one but you can choose UK only, US only, Europe Only or combos of all three. Am using with Etisalat though so not sure about Du. You d/l it to your comp. It doesn't work in China but has about a 90-95% sucess rate in Dxb. Try googling the short name for England, then an eye, then the three letter word for what you're asking about... hth

If you want to access your stuff (music/pics/etc) at a later date in the future, then I would say Andriod or something Windows compatible... once it's on Apple it can be hard to convert back (doable, but a PITA)

Wonder if that Sani service thing would work in an apartment? our a/c is linked to other apartments but our 'maintenance' just wipe the vents really... Have noticed since being in Dubai I am forever getting rid of "stuff" out of my nose. It wasn't uncommon for crew to get this on (super) long flights (plane boogers we called it, ew) but I have it every day now. Like constantly feeling there is "stuff" in my nose. And always looking like it does when you have a cold (i.e. not a nice shade) sorry TMI I know but wondering if anyone else has the same- lovely little Kermits hanging around? Only ever had that before if I was sick! So wonder, does it mean I am constantly sick? Never had asthma/hayfever/allergies before...

It depends if they are basing their figures on accidents only, or incidents as well. An airline can be perfectly safe, yet have a lot of incidents on its record. In fact, some can argue that more 'incidents' on an airline's record can mean they have a better safety management & reporting system in place- because they are acknowledging & learning from mistakes, rather than ignoring them, misreporting or covering them up. Look at Qantas- yes, we have all heard about 'incidents' where there has been technical problems or damage, but the fact remains they have not had a fatality in the jet age despite all the "bad" publicity you might hear about them. You hear far less about Garuda yet they have had many fatalities, some of which were proven due to wilful negligence. Make of it what you will. [i'>Accident- An occurrence associated with the operation of an aircraft which takes place between the time any person boards the aircraft with the intention of flight until such time as all such persons have disembarked, in which (a) a person is fatally or seriously injured as a result of: being in the aircraft; or direct contact with any part of the aircraft, including parts which have become detached from the aircraft; or direct exposure to jet blast (except when the injuries are from natural causes, self inflicted or inflicted by other persons, or when the injuries are to stowaways hiding outside the areas normally available to the passengers or crew); or (b) the aircraft sustains damage or structural failure which: adversely affects the structural strength, performance or flight characteristics of the aircraft and would normally require major repair or replacement of the affected component (except for engine failure or damage, when the damage is limited to the engine, its cowlings or accessories; or for damage limited to propellers, wing tips, antennas, tires, brakes, fairings, small dents or puncture holes in the aircraft skin); or (c) the aircraft is missing or is completely inaccessible. (ICAO Annex 13)[/i'> As you can see, "accident" is very braod and can cover a lot of things, however the common factor is always death/injury and/or major damage. An incident could be something as small as returning to the airport with an indication of a faulty engine that turns out to be a false alarm. So yes, if you looked at it that way and used incidents to compile figures, then Virgin could well appear to be "worse"...

Yeah that's the thing that makes me hesitant about turtles/tortoise.... can't take it with me. I know I would easily be able to find it a home with a friend or colleague though, should I have to go. I don't see that being an issue in the next 2 years though, unless I did something dumb and got fired... lol... Whereas optimistically a hermit crab owuld probably live a year (that's the longest any of mine did) sounds mean I know but better to get something little and easier to look after. I do know a guy who has reptiles and he treats them better than children; they have the best of everything and he even takes one with him to the pool to get some sun on the chair next to him!!! (neighbours don't mind, obvs)

I know you weren't but a lot of people generally do look down on fake bags for various reasons... the way I see it cheap product is cheap product whether fake or not and if people are going to go on about rights of workers etc regarding fake bags I always ask then "well what about your ipad" or "nike sneakers" or whatever else they get that's made with cheaper labour.... anyway, that's a bit off the subject... I'd have thought more of the girls here might have known what to do, with all the 'Karama' threads floating around :D

Non-stops are more expensive because a) they are in demand and b) they don't involve (an often annoying) stopover to change planes Yes logically you would think a nonstop is cheaper but think about it- lots of people want them because the travelling time is shorter, on a stop airlines have to pay two sets of landing fees and handling charges, often change crew (more expense) so to make it worth their while they lower the price a bit to get more people on. Supply and demand. I don't know why people say "oh X airline is more expensive then Y"- recently I looked at fares from Oz to Europe vie ME, they all came out around the $2500AUD mark, regardless of carrier or stopovers. Perhaps when you ladies fly they are in peak travel times, which always affects the price?

If you forget to set things to public though, and you post a lot, they almost certainly will notice the sudden lack of posts. Also, do you want to make ANYTHING public? If not, go to your Friends settings and create a new "list", call it "Semi Visible " or "Stalkers" or something.... ;) It's a pain to do but once it's done.... go to each of your albums, then set the privacy to "custom". You can specify a list of people who you do NOT want to see that item. Choose the list you made earlier. Now, when you post something new, under the arrow with the drop down menu (it.s usually set to Friends, if that's your default setting), you can again pick "Custom: Everyone except: X" They will still see what you want them to see, but not all. You can also just restrict comments as well if you wanted to.

It's illegal to record someone without their knowledge- this has been said many times in the news media here, when it's come up in cases. However, as mentioned once it's done then the police would probably listen to it anyway. I don't think there's such a thing as "won't hold up in court"- as we all know people have been done for the 'middle finger' on the say-so of someone else, not even with any video/pics. My company records calls to their HR dept, if you get abusive or use language with the staff you can get in trouble. But they tell us this when we start, it's not actually stated on the phone calls.

One I HATED as a kid "Because I'm the adult and you're the child" Grrrrrr, mum!!! Actually, she was a bit of a dictator, once when my room was so messy she threatened to throw out whatever was on the floor. Me, being 7, didn't believe her so I was devastated when she did!!! Back to the topic: "Yeah, I'm on my way right now" - said while still in bathroom doing makeup - something I would never have dreamed of saying back home....
