He seems to be offended and never replied. Thanks again pollysxb, Will try this broker also... Let's see if he can help. :sleepy:

In most cases there are more benefits if you are working on a company visa rather than on your husbands visa. The company would consider an employee under its sponsorship to be more stable long term, whereas a person under their husbands sponsorship wouldn't be as stable as they can quit at any time without certain contractual obligations, such as not having to pay back any educational or training costs if they end the contract early, not having to give a notice period, etc. From personal observations I've seen people doing the same admin job in the same company, similar qualifications and experience, but the person on her husbands visa makes a lower salary without benefits such as transport, housing and no ticket back home. The only added benefit was insurance. It would really depend on the specific policy of the company. But generally if you want more benefits it's better to be sponsored by the company. I'm not sure about the maternity leave as I haven't actually seen anyone on her husbands visa pregnant. But it was covered by the medical insurance provided by the employer. Hi cowboy, Thanks for reply. Do you know what law says about this??? I googled it and found nothing. Just confused over this

I haven't tried to ring it, but from their website, this is their telephone number: 04-8833383 Hi cheeky monkey, Thanks for the effort... They don't answer calls. I got only email response from them that says, as per policy.... They can't give refunds for used products. I have made complaint to consumer rights anyway, although I don't have high hopes that they will take any action.

They say, as per their policy they can only refund items that are not opened/used and with original packing. I don't know how we can know the items are fake or original without opening it  FairyDust, I know I know but this site was recommended here many times. So I thought.... Oh yeah my fault :angry:

The Dept of Economic Development should be your starting point, I reckon. http://www.dubaided.gov.ae/en/Pages/default.aspx SD, Consumer rights need company details or contact details, address etc for launching a complaint. There is nothing mentioned on this website :\: I will try anyway, without having any high hopes. I am so stupid :angry:

I was buying products from my hairdresser and she was selling it way more expensive. I order from this website as it showed discounted price and was about 30-40% less. I am shocked to see products are fake. I have been using same product since years and always buy from salon. Can anyone suggest what step i can take? I already opened the products and used it. Smell is different, packing is almost same but it's not delivering the result. anywhere I can complain?

I have lost about 20 kgs in about 8 months. I have been stupid enough to buy expensive cloths. Jeans and trousers are not an issue as I have worn them enough. There is good number of shirts that I have worn very few times and are expensive enough that I don't feel heart for giving it away. I was thinking if I can get it altered by some tailer? Anyone if you ever got it done? Will I look stupid and stingy getting it done ? and at the last , do you know any tailers who will do it in reasonable price? Congratulations! That's a major achievement. Do you mind sharing how you managed to loose so much weight? As for altering your clothes, you could, I don't think it's stingy but I think you deserve a new wardrobe. Hi OD, I lost all this weight following Intermittent fasting. I have PCO, insuline resistance and some other deficiencies . I took vitamins, walked a lot and follow 2-5 intermittent fasting. I love how t gave me enrgy, made me lose weight and my all issues are fixed. It might not work for many people, for me I have realized how much we all eat in 3 meals a day. Thanks to my fitness pal as well. Really helped me to get idea of calories I am eating.

How/where do I check for these deficiencies? Do I need to get a doctor's prescription for this? If you have insurance, why not... Go to some good GP and they will write it for you. If you don't have insurance, you can do these tests your self also. You don't need prescription from doc. Let me know f you need list of the tests you would need to do. :):)

Dear All Looking thru the old posts, i tried to call Dr. ali,but unfortunately his number is not being picked up any time of the day. My hair is falling at an alarming rate and would need expert opinion. I would appreciate any help or suggestions in this matter. Thanks in advance MB Hi there, I know many of us are aware of this fact but just a reminder. Have you checked your vitamin D levels and hormones or iron levels? Normally imbalance in hormones or vitamin deficiency causes massive hair fall. This is a very common reason and can be treated easily by taking supplements. I had spent so much money, none of doctor could rectify my issue. I googled, did tests in lab and found I have very very low vitamin D level. Treated it with high dose and now it's perfectly fine. All I regret is, why I wasted money by going to these stupid doctors.

I find this thread very interesting. Some people find everything so weird and bizzare but not their ignorant rude statements towards others. Such a self centered world this is. May be they need to realize that world doesn't revolve around them, and other "bizzare" and less intelligent people may not think or understand things their way. Why don't these "intelligent" , well read people leave this forum for stupid and dumb people like us, who ask so many questions?

So I need to cash a cheque (fairly large sum <200k) having been here for approx 8 years I've never had a cheque before, how do I do it? Just put it in my bank or cash it somewhere? Or do I take it to issuing bank with ID and cash it? Take your id to the issuing bank and you will get the cash. It doesn't cost anything at all. Safer option is to deposit cheque into your account, it might take 3-5 days ... I always go for this option in case cash is not required immediately.

This is what worked for me :::: Hair Botox - beauty plus salon in Satwa Kera straight- Donna at Roots in Al Barsha ( it's relocating in July to sunset mall ) My hair is course , wavy , kinky and frizzy. I love that now I can wake up and just style the bangs. The rest is smooth , soft and no frizz !!! I second this, Aliza @ Beauty Plus Salon is best for hair treatments. Sadly, she has revised treatment prices and is no more "super cheap" option. But I don't think so she does home service. What were her prices? I read on here too that she was very cheap but found her prices comparable to most salons. Hair Botox was between 1000-1500 Hi Blondie007 , my friend who recommended this place, she had done some treatments in last 2 years and every time it was under 1000 Dhs and she has very thick and long hair. When I went to her, she had revised prices, as per her she is using premium products (and thats true) plus she does the treatments her self not her staff (I don't know if it was her staff doing treatments previously). My friends gave really good reviews and I tried. Price is still less compared to other salon for same brand/treatment. My sister got Blowout done in Amro salon, paid 2000 Dhs+ shampoo 200 dhs+conditioner 200 Dhs. Treatment result was not good at all and her hair became very dry. Later on we found that maximum price for blowout shampoo conditioner is 150 Dhs and not 200, we felt ripped off  Anyway, for her next treatment, she went to Aliza, who charged her 1200 Dhs plus 300 Dhs for shampoo and conditioner. Although not "very cheap" but still good reasonable price with original blowout products. Result was really really amazing. She also offered "Free Fixing or repeating the treatment" if someone is not happy with the result. All this feed back I got from different Emirates cabin crew friends who are regular at her salon and highly recommend her. I have also done a treatment by her and could not be happier. For others it might be different, I personally think that not everybody can afford to pay 1000+ Dhs. Her quality of work, knowledge and customer service is matchless.... probably that's is the reason I didn't mind paying little higher than expected. Only one thing I did not like was the requirement to pay a deposit in "advance" to get an appointment. And that was weird

Thank you everyone, I have opened account and so far so good. I hope, I don't have to face any issues. And they actually give all the benefits they promised. Does anyone know whether you are allowed to transfer your savings from HSBC Premier account to your home country? I have heard that you have to have a minimum amount on the HSBC Premier in order to qualify being HSBC Premier? Axelle, you are right...you need to have salary transfer of 50k Dhs and above or maintain a balance of 350k Dhs to qualify for premier account. We don't have either of these. Perhaps we got ours because we had one opened for us by our RM in the UK Yes GE, if you have premier account in UK, you can have it here without any such requirement.

Thank you all for your opinion on the matter. Honestly, I don't really feel like getting involved in such issue... Considering my female friend is kind of liberal and she is found joking with her husband about having extra girl friend, so she can also have some "good time" around. I don't know if she will find it objectionable or would be OK. On the other side, my husband really really hate such characterless people, he will not be very pleased to find my self in such mess. I feel weird that my girl friend"s brother in law is also working in same business, with the amount of benefits (apartment, car, phone, excellent salary) for such a lower level job and without any huge experience , would not the brother in law have clues about what is going on? May be he knows and keeping quiet. I have met that secret girl friend of my friend at inauguration event, sadly ... She is involved in households and sometimes invited to the same dinner parties that I attend. If my husband would be doing such a thing and girl is around, I would definitely get to know. Anyway, it might be selfish but I think I will keep my self distant and keep my mouth shut on whole situation. :(

Amir is actually a really nice guy and yes I have trained there. He does say stuff to provoke and I will agree with the comments in the article--it might have been harsh but I think the woman is taking it way out of proportion. He had called me out on some of my bull**** justifications and excuses, but all it did was benefit me, and keep me honest with myself. And sorry, fat is fat. It is not an insult, it is a descriptive word just like "tall" is. (not that I go around calling people that!) They do select people who apply to the gym who they think will work hard and follow the program and I guess you could call it a QC issue because they offer a money back guarantee. Plenty of "fat" people train there; that is not what matters. They are out to make changes in people's lives. So you are saying if I call Mr.Amir an idiot........ It is not an insult, it is a descriptive word just like "tall" is??? Because an idiot is idiot anyway? Silvstet, I took only a few classes there, it was not bad.... They keep your spirits high and keep you moving. Do whatever but don't stop doing..... I quit from there because timings are not suiting my time table. I have attended 360 gym @J3 mall also... They had amazing body pump and Pilates. I am not sure what it is like now. If you wanna get in shape, CF is good option. And affordable too. Sorry, I am a self made, middle class lady, not rich enough to pay for "most expensive" gym and get insulted :biggrin:

To be honest, when I heard about this gym last year... I was tempted to try. When I called for inquiry about price I got a reply ," if you are asking about price, you probably cannot afford us" I was like, what he ****? What do you think? Who you are? I can afford or I cannot, I need to know price and that's how business is. Not every inquiry is a sale. Even the female co owner is similar in attitude. I was so offended and wrote review on Facebook. No one is interested to get fit at the cost of self respect. Silvest, sorry for being emotional.... But this just reminded me how much humiliated I felt after talking to this stupid gym guy.

You'll probably get loads of people saying "no don't do it" on here, but I for one have never had a problem with their Premier Service. DH and I had a premier account in the UK, so just carried on the same out here. Free withdrawals from any cash machine and free international transactions are a bonus. OK so the rates probably aren't as good as elsewhere, but if we do ever have a large amount to transfer, we go elsewhere. Thank You GE. We have tried local banks, my exprience was great with customer service but benefits are not as good. I was skeptical as many EW here did not recommend. Wish me luck

Any reviews for haircut? They have a cut and blowdry voucher in the body book, wonder if it's ok for a Sienna Miller kind of bob? Or can anyone recommend somewhere a bit cheaper than Slam/Salon Ink prices? Last time I went to Essential, but wasn't entirely happy. Plzzzzzz don't go to such salons for short hair cuts. I have not had good exprience. SLam and other similar salon are good for such haircuts but ridiculously expensive. 300+ Dhs for hair cut? I am now growing my hair so I don't need to cut it every few weeks. Why is it such salon? I checked the website and at least one of the hairdressers is trained at Vidal Sasson in London. But after having a few bad layering jobs, I do get your point ;-) Just such a shame it has to be so expensive. There just doesn't seem to be enough 'midrange' salons here. And Emirates get discount with Slam, so it sucks a bit paying full price when my Emirates friend get 20 % off ? edited by Silvstet on 07/05/2015 All the best ... That's what I thought of Essential salon, "British trained " hairdresser, good at botching hair. I checked with Slam , I was told 330 for hair cut and blow dry, when I asked price for only cut... I was told that they don't do cut without blow dry. Why do you blow dry a pixie haircut? S100 every 6 weeks for hair cut, I am not that Rich ? even with 20% off, I won't pay that much for a cut :sleepy:

If you are looking for all natural and to avoid chemicals in sunscreen, or any cosmetic there is a great resource at EWG where you can check out the chemical toxicity rating of any product. I recommend checking even if a product claims to be all natural as there is no legislation that prevents manufacturers from claiming cosmetics are natural or even organic when they may contain chemicals along with some plant based ingredients. There is also a guide to the best sunscreens that show which brands have low risk ratings, risk is measured on a scale of 1 to 10 with 10 being the most toxic. http://www.ewg.org/2014sunscreen/best-sunscreens/best-beach-sport-sunscreens/ Check a product here http://www.ewg.org/skindeep/ edited by chezmoi on 02/05/2015 Thanks a lot, will definitely check this website.

Hey all, and Happy new years ! So I had really bad tooth pain over the weekend, and I needed a dentist, after searching on here I saw many of you had recommended Dr. Madhu in Karama, so my husband took me there yesterday, after an x-ray he said I need a root canal, he did something for the time being which I think just a small filling or something, as he did not have time and we went for an emergency appointment - I was charged 300 AED. So he explained that I will need a root canal, and he said it will cost 1600 AED + 200 AED if there is a 4th Canal rather than 3. also I will need to pay for a crown after which starts from 800 AED. so total 2400-2700, plus the 300 we paid yesterday. Is this the ''going'' rate for a root canal? nearly 3000 AED for 1 root canal? I also read about some of you mentioning that its best to get a second opinion on root canals here as many dentists recommend it unnecessarily, but I guess that means I will need to pay for another check up/x-ray for the tooth? Can anyone recommend a dentist that can do a good job and isn't charging that much? :( edited by Figs on 04/01/2015 Hi figs, just wanted to know if you found some dentist who doesn't charge as much? Have you got root canal done it still living without it? I m looking for it too but all dentists are crazily expensive.

Thanks to all the kind ladies who replied. I have actually brought my father to UAE , he will stay with me for few months. Can anybody recommend any specialist (endocrinologist etc) who actually would care for clients and gives individual attention and care to patients??? I have taken him to some specialists and hated the way they deal clients. Hardly gives 5-10 mins, without trying to know history, medicines used. This is why I am asking recommendations of Someone who gives proper care. I don't mind if its is expensive etc. Thanks again !!! edited by smartee on 18/04/2015

Does anyone know a South African hairdresser named Tracey, She has left the salon I go to. She trained in the UK. Anyone heard of her, any idea which salon she is in now or her mob number. TIA Hi meerkat , I was also looking for her. She left essential and after that SLam, after that it was cut and above. I tried to look for her later on but I think it's stupid and useless. She seems to not care for clients... As when I asked for her person number, she refused to give. Sent message on fb and never got reply. Empress24, thanks for the uncalled advice. How can you assume my reasons for reporting a business? It's not necessarily competition , it's the way they are playing with the health of people. And I am not stupid enough to distinguish between the way ripe market works, or any exhibition works verses ladies/ppl working from home and running businesses from home. And I would definitely report them regardless of the outcome. I am not surprised on the thumbs down, seems like all the "SAHMs" are doing illegal business and they don't like idea of being reported. ?

Its good to know there are other women who choose not be have children if they don't feel like it. In my case my fear of bad Parenting, overcomes the fear of regretting later on. Fact that we can't "undo" this and there is no return option :P , my life will be finished then. I think, I will wait for some more time...if this fear subsides.

I never knew if I wanted children. I was waiting to feel 'ready'. That never happened. I decided to go ahead anyway, knowing that, I couldn't really see myself not being part of a traditional family later in life. I never could have imagined how much I would enjoy being a mother. It totally changed my life in the most wonderful way. If you are unsure, it is the greatest risk you will ever take. Those who have kids, can't explain to those who don't how it feels. You can't know what you're missing. It's very tricky business! This thing....exactly this thing when I hear from my friends, I fear may be I am going to regret my decision. Although, until now I never thought of becoming a mother. Specially, when my other half hates the idea of kids.

Morning ladies, can't find any recent threads on this, does anyone have any recommendations/ comments? Thanks I have tried all of these treatments. Botox and kera straight is over priced and over rated so I won't recommend these treatsments. Blowout is great for silky, shiny and straighter hair. My hair were not super straight but kind of natural straight with volume- and that's how I like it. Its expensive treatment and should last about 5-6 months if done properly and maintained properly. Price is about 1000+ Dhs and if you are lucky, you may find good deals online. (That's what I normally do).

I was told very late and now I am flying specially to take him to some specialists as he doesn't care much about his health. I don't know which route I should take, checking with a GP and then for Endocrinologist or directly go to Endocrinologist?. His diabetes is always controlled, and he is active person.....I believe it is diabetes related foot ulcer....but I wish its just normal wound.

My husband's company offers a payout for death in service, similar to what life assurance would be in the Uk (not to be confused with life INsurance). He's also insured for anything that happens to him accident-wise while in the course of his work duties or traveling for work etc. We have separate (paid for privately) policies for accidental death (road accident being the thing we fret most about) and also critical illness cover, mainly because the medical insurance wouldn't cover anything cancer-related or something else that would mean he couldn't work. Life insurance costs a fortune and our UK policy wouldn't cover us whilst living out here.. so that was another thing to fork out for... Must remember to get home contents insurance next! *sigh* Hi clare, sorry to go off topic, I am also looking for critical illness insurance, can you recommend any? Or if you can give info or any link what it covers etc? Thanks.

I did a package of 10 for the same reasons as mentioned. I didn't see any difference to be honest. Waste of money. And it's low impact. They don't want you to move too fast on the bike. Thanks SL. Thanks Silvstet, I better move my butt then going for hypoxi. Money saved is money earned ? I just made some money on EW...thanks ladies  edited by smartee on 03/03/2015

Any reviews plz? Did it reduce cellulite or inches? I tried it back in 2006 at the Aviation club, it only helped reduce inches as I was exercising daily and reducing my calories. It isn't a quick fix and you need to exercise and eat less too. I cannot comment on the cellulite as luckily don't suffer from it too much. Thank You SL, I am in healthy range or weight, just considering to do on my thighs because its bulkiest part ?. I would be happy even if it drops one inch as it claims "targeted area weight loss"
