But there are salons charging 500-1000 for similar treatments. I don't get the difference. I am having troubles managing my hair and budget is really tight. ☹️

Such a pity for all of us. I go to one salon, pay nearly 400 Dhs for a cut, leave happily. Next time same salon, same charges screwed up my hair. Enough of paying high prices for inconsistent service. I don't know why would people pay 100+ USD to get only a cut. I have started to hate Dubai

Aliza, formerly of Beauty Plus is your 'go to' lady for any kind of treatment like this. She does hair botox, keratin treatments, brazilian blowouts, rebonding and she's excellent. Butttt her prices have gone up sooooo high. What's happening in Dubai? Everywhere they are talking about recession and people increasing service charges of everything. Yes I know she is excellent but services starting from 1000++ Dhs is too much

Go to a reputable salon and get it fixed Reputable doesn't mean they won't do disaster. I find them more careless because they don't have to struggle for making a name any more. I can name all those salons charging such high prices to deliver disasters. Over my ten years here have been to all 4 I named and have never had any distasters I have sat in the chair and watched people with bad colours/cuts come in and have them corrected I can only go my own experience and that of my friends who go there too :-) I am not saying they are bad at coloring or cutting or highlighting. Chemical treatments such as perming and straightening treatments are not famous in Europeans countries, hence these hairdressers are not really good at that. Even though I have seen many filpinos, Indians, Koreans excellent with these treatments, I yet have to come across a European/Arab hairdresser who could be equally good. In my opinion, since these treatments are very much "Asian", this is why only Asians are expert in this. Just like Asians are not good doing blonde coloring because it's just not their thing. No offense intended. But to fix something, you should know how it is done and what went wrong. I would suggest OP to check with this Japanese salon in DIFC or Marina. I find them to be ethical enough to say, "they can't fix it".

Hi Ladies anyone else have issues with static hair? Mine is terrible, even when i brush it i can hear the static in it and every time i touch my car door i get such a shock off it...and even shopping trolleys  any ideas for something i can use to stop it? i remember in the UK there was the winter shampoo (i think by Pantene) that used to help with static hair but highly doubt we'd have anything like that here in this heat  It does happen with me too. I usually put some hair serum to fix it.

Hi Smartee. I have just had Brazilian Blowout done at Senses Salon, JLT - they used proper products, not cheaper copy. Contact 04-4572290 I paid 800 (negotiated discount with manageress) but my hair is only shoulder length - it is fine but there is lots of it... I was pleased with their service, knowledge and attention. They styled it with the hot irons so it turns under slightly at the ends, not just pulled straight! Only had it done on Monday but good so far. They are in Tiffany Tower, JLT, which can be a nightmare parking, but if you call them as you arrive they will come down with parking access too! I just had this brazilian blowout from senses salon JLT. They literally sold me this treatment. To clear i have very frizzy and curly hair. Somehow i came across reviews which were good about keratin for this salon. But no, my hair looked pretty when i left the salon because she blow dried after hair wash. But when i washed my hair the next day i started to have slight curls. Its not that easy as they say to just step out of shower dry your hair and you are ready. I have to properly blow dry my front hair. I dont have curls yet in my back hair but it wont last 5-6 months as they stated. Good luck with you but i think its like this everywhere. Hey sarah000000, It's very old thread if you check date  I went to same salon Beauty Plus Ladies salon. I loved the result for my hair. Hairdresser her self was so professional, she explained to me what I should expect from this treatment. Result was exactly what she told me. I get this treatment every now and then. Could not be more happier. I am sorry for your bad experience. And hey, yes price for me is 700 Dhs ever since.

It's sad to know many women here don't have pair of functional eyes or it could be just their age? I clearly mentioned that I am not the one scheduling things for her, she does things at her own that's why I am offended that why she doesn't arrange tasks in such a way that could facilitate her belief? I just asked her about few undone tasks and she told me, she Cudnt do it as she was resting after ironing and before doing dishes etc. I find it an excuse only. Btw, Thank you everyone who understood my point and gave me advice. I think so it's really time to let her go... I hope she finds a madam who can put up with her BS. It does get onto my nerves to listen such stories after a hectic day.

I have something wrong with me and it has destroyed me. And every time I feel upset or frustrated, I snap myself swiftly back in by reminding myself that I am so, so, so fortunate and I could have been born in a country where you are not even worth a half an hour rest if you did have a need for it. Sorry, but big deal. The woman is obviously trying to earn a living despite this shake. She hasn't asked for a day off. WTH to you! You're not human? Make a flipping schedule! 5pm Ironing 6pm Rest 6.30pm Prepare dinner 7pm Rest 7.40pm Eaat/washing up I could easily rest for half an hour between tasks and still have it all done. Get her iron levels and Vitamin D levels checked. Give her enough iron inner food. Make sure she is eating. Make a schedule. Well, first of all please go sip some water. Secondly, she has no issues at all currently , she thinks... She might get it in future, which is stupid and illogical. Thirdly, her schedule is upto her what she wants to do first, I just needs things to be done. She comes for 8 hrs and I can't afford to give her 3-4 breaks of half an hour to relax and cool down temperature which she can definitely manage otherwise as well. Last but not least, I haven't hired maid to baby sit her. As an adult, if she has problem she should tell and get it treated. Not making up stupid stories which has no sense. She is here for living just like any of us. How about j ask my boss to give me an hour of break every time I get panic because it might give me heart attack?

ok, just a second here. Starving yourself at 500calories for 2 days a week and then stuffing yourself with whatever you normally eat? hello???? lessons learned here are? I agree that Cleanse 9 is not an actual 'cleanse' for the simple reason our bodies do that job quite well...but you are at least having 1,000 calories a day, and on day 5 you can have your salad and protein at lunch and then at dinner...we are talking 2 cups of veg and 3 - 4 oz of protein at each meal.....so...and 2 litres of water, you do not stuff your face and you can have as many free veg and fruit as you like when you like...so basically, for 9 days you eat a good balanced diet of fruit, veg and protein.... so...which eating plan works better? I poo pooed it and finally tried it....it is not hokus pokus nor a scam and more than than starving for 2 days a week and stuffing yourself for 5? just a thought. As for losing 5kg in a week.. well, that would absolutely be water weight and not fat. And, exercise does play a part in diet...but diet is 80% and exercise is 20% but I can tell you, if you actually do cardio and weights your will change the shape of your body rather than being 20kg less but the same shape. ok...i am done. I have signed in only to reply to this post. I totally disagree with you on this. I have started following 5:2 intermittent fasting, lost almost 15 kilos and it's still helping me to maintain my weight without any gym/cardio workout. I know so many friends who found it much easier to eat only 500 calories on 2 days/week then calculating calories every day and restricting your self. Nobody asks you to stuff EXTRA calories on non fasting day. If you don't know, one of the rules of IF is , eat "Normal" on other 5 days. It doesn't say anywhere to "over eat" or STUFF your self. If you don't like it, that's an other thing. For me it makes more sense to eat only one meal, 2 days/week than worrying about calories every day ever meal. Also, it's very easy to skip meal and lunch on busy days. Most of us do have more than 2-3 busy days each week. So you actually have to do mindful eating at dinner time 2 times a week. Other days eat whatever you like. I did not do any workout to lose all this weight, I have eaten pizza, pasta whatever I liked BUT less, means less calories. I am not debating "health and fitness", for that obviously you need to work out and all. I am just talking about weight loss, you can lose even while enjoying food you love. I am a fan and I will always encourage everyone for adopting fasting 2 times a week. It also helps me with water retention after indulging in my favorite peri olives. To OP, honestly... You can lose quite good weight on Intermittent fasting. It's coming from a person who tried and tested, never felt better and more energetic than this. I am PCOS and insulin resistant too. It has changed my life and I feel amazing.

I really don't know why all the recommendations on this forum come for expensive, high end salons. All of them charge ridiculous amount of money for same brands and same procedure, that we can get at some smaller salons @ way less price. Why it's always pastels, roots, salon ink, Ted morgen or some other expensive salons? Why not some small salon in Bur Dubai or Satwa or Deira? may be because they can't afford to pay for these smart marketing people who can always recommend them. I am sorry, i refuse to pay 1500 Dhs for 2 hours of treatment. I am getting my hair done for almost 750 Dhs every 6 months, the difference is salon is not very fancy and there is only one person working there...Who does my hair. Exactly. Which is why I was very thankful for the recommendations of Aliza on this forum. She ONLY specialises in straightening treatments and is very good at it. She charged me 600 dhs for a Brazilian Blowout that would have cost over 1,000 dhs in the big salons. She was excellent and I won't be going anywhere else now. FairyDust  I go to her my self for my hair treatment. Sad that she doesn't cut hair and I still need to pay a fortune for a haircut. let me know if you find such hairdresser for haircut as well. I don't want to pay more than 150-200 Dhs for a hair cut.

My husband and his friends are planning to go to Moscow for 2 days only to watch Man Utd, can anyone tell me up to date details of the process how to apply for the visa and the costs involved. Or can anyone recommend a company that can apply for all 4 visas and do everything without costing the earth. My husband recently got it done by fly Dubai. You just need to buy tickets of fly Dubai and make hotel bookings. Submit it to Fly Dubai along with fee according to nationality. You get visa after 5 days. We checked before going for fly Dubai, most of travel agents charge higher than them. Btw fly Dubai fee were including travel insurance. When we did calculation... They had only charged 200 Dhs more than visa+travel insurance fee. I do highly recommend them because I have heard , applying visa through embassy by your self is really hassle. All the best

Smartee just treat yourself to a hairdo at SLAM and you won't regret it, mark Essentials down as a bad memory! I did that and I might not be able to do it too often. Although, I love everything about this salon But the prices. I am still on hunt to find a good and inexpensive salon for haircuts.:nerd: I've never had my hair cut in Dubai - how much did you pay and for what services (if you don't mind sharing). What would be a reasonable price for a hair cut? I'm very tempted to try SLaM but don't want to bite off more than I can chew price wise. Wash, cut and blow dry: something around 330 Dhs

I have the same girl every time for both cut and colour. Simple fact is they know that I always book with her and I wouldn't use anyone else. And yes it is Holly. GE, Both times I booked Holly, She introduced me to a new girl, sayin she will do the job. . I have nothing against her or yo... it's jsut that I am extremely unhappy and felt humiliated the way I was treated both these times. Dubai has too much competition, there should be no place for bad customer service.

I have only used Essential from your list and had decent result, my biggest problem was the customer service. Twice when I booked, I got a different girl than I booked. I didn't want to make a fuss, as I felt it would be rude to the hairdresser that I was given. And both times the stylist I booked was busy anyway. Once with the owners friend and the owner made such a fuss over her and not speaking to other clients. The owner/manager gives a bad vibe when she's in the salon, might be a reason for the high staff turnover. That happened with me.... I booked one hairdresser, when I went to salon.... I was introduced to the new hairdresser by the one I booked. She said, she believes this girl will do a good job....(what the ????) Out of courtesy to the new hairdresser.... I didn't say anything. I got such a bad hair cut by her, totally opposite of what I showed to her. Upon complaining, she said t will look the same after few days. (Really?). No apology, no nothing. I don't earn to pay for bad job to these rude hairdressers.

What does seasoned girl at Essentials do to your hair??? I am used to a pretty high end salon and I am terrified to get my hair colored here! I found them on the Wella site via my hair stylist in the U.S. Looking for someone who does balayage and Wella freelights, ideally. I don't want to try a new hairdresser every time and try to explain to her what exactly I want. I don't know how good or bad they are, I am not comfortable at all. Unfortunately, all these new girls I tried did not even do an average job. When i told at reception about my distaisfaction, I was treated very badly.

I don't recommend Essential Salon at all if, all the good hairdressers left from there and now they have new girls who seems just "out of training" and learning skills on you. Meteor Garden salon is using sub standard products and no hygiene for skin or nails. I tried only nails there once, at the same time saw result of hair color they were doing..... I ran and never went back there. Have not tried other salons so cannot say anything.

Heyy Bebeers, thanks for your care !!!! But you know what.... I actually didn't take anything at all and dropped already 1.5 kg. I did fastin today (no crabs no water weight) and had only hot water to drink. Until now...... I feel much lighter and checked my weight, I am almost there. For me in such prob. Sometimes drinking water helps but sometimes it doesn't. Today it did the trick when I took like warm water throughout the day..... hopefully all should be gone tomorrow. Thanks for everyone's help. Definitely will try some of these tips next time ???

hiii thanks everyone I tried vinegar, green tea etc......Nothing works quickly. As I said I have only water weight that I gained after eating olives (too much salt), it will go at it's own but I am feeling uncomfortable. Lemon water does help but slowly ? I think I should take SL's advice and use water pill for now.

To have a good hair treatment kera straight or blowout or keratin done in under 1000 Dhs? I have called all the recommended salons, they all are ridiculously expensive. Please give me more recommendations. Has anyone tried groupon deals? How was the experience ? I am scared to try after listening all the horror stories. I am so desperate with my extremely frizzy hair. Hiiii, I lovvvveeeeee the way Aliza at Beauty Plus Salon works. She is no nonsense hairdresser. Tell her your budget, seek her advice and go accordingly.....You will be surprised with fantastic results. Rates are very fair and definitely much cheaper than other salons. I am sure, You should be able to get Blowout treatment within your budget from Beauty Plus Salon.... unless your hair are extremely long or thick. Groupon deals are like gambling - you don't know what you are going to get  I won't recommend to use groupon for hair. ETA: if you can check their promos... You can get a bargain. One time I did blowout for 700 Dhs and the other time for 1000 Dhs. @Horizonmum2 Seems you havnt been to Beauty Plus for long, they do not offer any other services now :)

Anyone doing this? (not calling it a diet!). Post your meal/snack ideas for the "2" days here, total consumption on those days to be 500 calories. Today I've had an egg, 2 ryvita and a tomato/pepper/salsa type thing like shakshuka but without the cheese, 250 cals. How many hours is it til dinner.... I love ittttt On my fasting days, I start my date with a late coffee around 12 noon. Nescafé 3 in 1, 87 calories. Then nothing until evening. Around 8 pm I chose either a soup (cabbage, carrots, peas, mushroom and baby shrimps and egg whites ) with my fav spicy seasoning of vinegar and chillies about 200-300 calories. I eat as much as I want. Or I chose salmon fillet 80-100 grams, pan grilled with baked or steamed broccoli , add seasoning like thyme or rose merry. About 300-350 calories Or I go for lentil soup... Almost same amount of calories. I love how easy it is to follow... Normally I schedule my busiest days for fasting and it works fantastic.

I don't think we should accept the 'junk food revolution' at all! This promotes being unhealthy and I would strongly disagree that people are becoming more accepting of it - when chains like McD's are closing 100's of outlets across the US - people are in fact shunning the fast food culture. Having curves is fine, but I don't think being too curvacious to the point of being unhealthy should be encouraged, nor celebrated. Even though McDonald's are closing; new more sophisticated fast food outlets are opening up; like in Dubai there is Sheikh Shack for example. There was a celebrity in the UK that said, obese people should feel uncomfortable and not be able to buy nice clothes in any high street shop, as they feel they are normal when they can fit into nice clothes. I think it's far too easy and acceptable to be overweight in countries like the UK. Curvy is used a lot for obese people. Curvy shouldn't be the same as being fat. I don't think the woman in the article looks healthy, she looks a bit overweight, so not really a good role model. I have to disagree with you. I am already my ideal weight of being healthy.... But despite losing 15kgs, my busy size is still 36D .... Despite walking, eating healthy my bump is still 38, my waist is however 27 and this is the lowest I could every have because of my bone structure. Due to my "curves" I still am unable to fit into normal sizes, because small is "too small" for my busy and medium is very lose for my waist. I wear whatever fits on my bust and Due to this, I still look chubby or fat, when I am not. No matter how hard I try I always struggled to lose fat deposits from these parts. I am fit and have a strong stamina, it's kind of weird when ppl still call me "big" when I am not. I forgot to tell, I am just 155 cm. I am happy the way I am... Still trying to lose some more just to be more healthier.

Am looking to gift a facial treatment to my friend for her wedding. Suggest a good treatment micro derma abrasion is always a good one, skin looks tight and amazing afterwards. i went to a spa in the fairmont hotel for it, cant remember the name, the therapist was super sweet Yeahhhh... I also tried them. Have done dermabraison so many times, so from my exprience I can tell, therapist was really good and she was sweet enough to explain procedure before starting. Dermatologist normally charge a fortune to do dermabraison, most likely because they have "license" to over charge.

Sorry to all Dr Madhu fans, I just feel he is over rated here. They are charging way more then prices mentioned here. He, him self was just too busy to give me details of my issue and tried to over charge consultation fee, because examination of the tooth took more than 15 mins??? I loved how detailed and patient Dr.Anupam was... She took all the time to explain the procedure to me, I chose her after seeing few other dentist. She is excellent In her profession. Shopping this season isn't easy, I bought several tops, same design just different colours, from american eagle only to reach home and discover they have a quality control problem. Some tshirts were shorter than others, and some were wider. Similar problem with h&m shirts, as one colour was too tight and the other colour was a perfect fit. My all time prob  Sorry ladies, either I am very picky (which I am not) or shops here suck. I have been to 2 malls and did through search. Didn't find anything worth wearing.... I got a botox treatment for my hair a month ago, I am happy with it but can notice that the length of the hair which was dry is again a bit more frizzy. I had purchased the special shampoo and conditioner which costed together 400 AED. Do you have any recommendation of a shampoo and conditioner which would work and isnt so expensive. I don't know if such shampoos are available anywhere else, mostly have seen these at hair salons only. I get mine from Beauty Plus Salon in Satwa.... and Its not very expensive. For RG shampoo and conditioner price is 120 Dhs each. I have heard my friend gets some shampoo and conditioner from Carrefour that's sulfate free and sodium free... As per her, it works great. I just cudnt dare to use these commercial products anymore. Hope it helped.

Thanks everyone for reply. Seems like I am not the only one suffering. I have checked all the shops including sun and sand. May be my only option is buying online ?

I'm looking for a recommendation for a good gynaecologist that specialises in PCOS, (preferably not too far from JVC). I was diagnosed few months back after scans revealed many cysts and bloods showed insulin resistance. I feel like th Dr im seeing now just isn't bothered, I'm feeling really down trying to manage my symptoms including massive mood swings and she just doesn't seem concerned with anything other than getting my weight down (which btw I'm only about 5kg overweight so not a massive amount) I know th weight loss can help but when th previous 20kg or so hasn't, I can't see this last few making much of a difference. Thanks in advance! Hi kerrym, I was in same boat las year. Jumped to 3 gynecologists, they all were equally unconcerned and useless. The only thing helped was losing eight, taking care of diet and moving a lot. I am taking yaz and metaformin medicine, both have helped a lot. I don't have any more symptoms of uncomfortable mood swings .... Excepts the days when I eat too much of carbs. Reducing weigh does make difference and your best doctor will be your body. Listen to it when you eat clean and move a lot. Verses.... When you don't mvoe or eat unhealthy. You will get to know and can adjust your life accordingly. I hope you get some good doctor.... But I did not. And I am glad I learnt what my body tells me :)

I was looking to buy a running business. Checked a few... Really liked one, but I was not really sure and wanted my time to decide. I told them I will get back to them within a week to pay advance etc and close the deal. Now, when I contacted them to close the deal... The seller said, she has changed her mind and now selling the business on higher price. What the ****??? I know the business is good and profitable and all... Although, I didn't pay any advance... I am willing to pay what they asked For in the first meeting and they are refusing . Now the same business is advertised again with 50k increase in selling price. I don't really get how someone can do it

So even if you turn your water heater off and leave it a day or so to cool, it's still hot? Yes FD, it's already turned off .... But water is same temperature. Cowboy, my husband has weird sleeping and working hrs... Early hours , mostly he is sleeping. He has to take showers mid of day or early evening. It's driving us nuts
